Have to say i was hoping the games were going to Parnell Park but not a big deal i suppose. Double header with the hurlers on the 7th March is nice.

Why would they use the McHugh goal as the picture on that page? Madness.

None of the home games jump off the page really tbh, but we'll make the pilgrimage anyways. I'm drumming up a bit of support with the other lads for Killarney tho .. will bring the young lad so that should swing it. I've always found Killarney to be that bit more friendly to the GAA traveller than Tralee :)

Soft Dubs can't deal with life on the mean streets of Tralee

In fairness on what planet would any man chose to be in Tralee rather than Killarney.

Or the trek up the gap. Or a wet weekend in Fossa. Or a pint in the Nugget.

Or Dubs heckling from the terraces.

(After a less than impressive Kerry performance 2 years ago, when Kerry only scored something like 4 or 5 points all day.)

"Fecks sake Kerry...shure I've more points than that on me drivers license"

    :D:D:D

The backdrop to the stadium in Killarney is mind-blowing tbf

    It is.

And it's also in bonus territory that it's not in Tralee.

It has been a few years since I went to an O'Byrne Cup game. Are the tickets 15€?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,582 ✭✭✭TouchingVirus

Pretty sure they were €10 last year, was a full year ago so ymmv

    +1

plus a euro for the team sheet that stays the same for every game afterwards, its most useful for the first game:D

it for a good cause though

Well 4 days into the new year and an O'Byrne cup game against a poor Maynooth was never gonna inspire a gushing match report. It was a poor game all told against extremely limited opposition. The usual mish mash of early season football mistakes, poor passing and woeful shooting with Dean Rock being the main culprit. As with every season the problem area of midfield reared its head again. It was the one area Maynooth competed and held the upper hand until Shane Carthy moved there and exerted a little influence.

I thought O'Conghaile did ok in midfield tackled well and turned over a few balls. I think he's playing a good bit of football at wing forward for Lucan so it maybe asking a lot to slot straight in as a dynamic midfielder. Other notable performances came from Harry Dawson who showed well for ball and I thought Small from Kickhams was very assured at the back and used the ball effectively.

It was noticeable too that we played with 2 sweepers at times so it appears as though a bit of thought is going into the defensive side of things early on. Maynooth took to pulling everyone back 2nd half so it was difficult to gauge how the system will play out.

Onto Wednesday with Offaly hopefully showing a bit more ambition
