I thought that myself while walking past it the other day. I've never been inside but the building doesn't look sufficiently open for their kind of premises. I wouldn't mind at all if they did open there though.

It's a very deceptive building. It is HUUUUUGE inside, both upstairs and ground level, and with a monster of a basement too. The one criteria it doesn't meet though, is outside space. Now the Addison, there's a place that ticks all their boxes. I'd love to see them open there too, although it's almost TOO close!

    Is The Addison closed?

It seems to be still open, but on a smaller scale.

Wetherspoon has kicked Heineken out of its entire estate after the brewer refused to supply Heineken and Murphy's to its second Irish pub. Heineken asked for a personal guarantee from chief executive John Hutson to supply the second Irish pub. Wetherspoon will sell now Tom Crean's lager, instead of Heineken.

Hopefully they'll get an Irish stout in. ;)

The Three Tun Tavern has always had Crean's.

Heineken really aren't very clever. "Yeah, let's do a deal with Wetherspoon! [ink dries] Oh, Diageo didn't do a deal and are maintaining their brand equity. [sad face] No, Wetherspoon, we're not going to do a new deal with you! Ha! [900 fewer pubs sell Heineken] Oh. [double sad face]."

That is hilarious. Is Creans to replace Heineken across the entire estate? Surely they dont have the capacity in that little brewery in Dingle?

Franciscan Well owned by Molson Coors, could be a good deal for both parties.
This would mean Shandon Stout which is very good, Carling and Canadian replacing Heinken, Carling Cider for Strongbow all irrelevant to beer drinkers and then some excellent beers like Doom Bar, Worthington White Shield, Worthington Smooth and may even herald the return of Caffrey's.

    Small victories.

Thing to remember is that they don't need to replace Heineken across the UK, they already sell plenty of other fizzy yellow beers over there. All they need is a lager and a stout for the republic. Would be great if they got O'Hara's in.

unlike the uk where they have a history of local regional brewing unlike us i know its beginning to change. We essentially have two suppliers in ireland diageo and heineken irl. Thats it , it will be vey difficult for a pub to survive giving the irish pallet with neither one of the above suppliers.

I would love to be proved wrong.................

Galway Bay Brewery proves this is wrong, their pubs are busy, and growing in number.
