I had originally planned on going without Costa until the Jan wildcard and reassessing then. But this Aguero injury has thrown a spanner in the works.
    Same for myself, even with Hazard/JT I don't want a 3rd Chelsea player. I could get Yaya/Costa instead of Hazard/Aguero I suppose.

Of the alternatives (I have Rooney), as you say Dzeko is inconsistent, I don't want Siggy+Bony so won't get Bony, same logic with Giroud (have Alexis).

Lukaku is intriguing, nice fixtures up to wildcard (QPR, sou, STO, new, hull) but can again be inconsistent.

Benteke also has nice fixtures (wba, MU, swa, SUN, PAL, lei).

What sort of timeline would people allow Aguero to sit on a bench? If he's out for 1 game, 4 games? I reckon they'll be very careful with him, and probably be eased back in anyway, after last year's non-stop injuries.

The problem with not getting Costa though is that as of now he has 50% ownership and this will rise as more people sell Aguero for him. If he starts scoring well, then not having him could be very damaging. I don't want him but I'm not sure I want to risk going without him either.

If you don't want him it means you think others could score better and are probably much cheaper, why don't you back yourself instead of worrying about other peoples teams, every time Costa scores you'll have at least one other striker playing that could equal or better him.

Well I now have no goalkeeper either. Fml.

    Injury/suspension list now includes:

    Krul
    Chambers
    Fabregas
    Aguero

Have one FT and 0.4 in the bank.

I'll be keeping Fab and can't change Krul yet as can't field 11 next GW if I don't change Chambers or Aguero.

I'm keen to keep Agueri too, but not sure which leaves Chambers.

    He's 4.8M and 0.4 gives me 5.2 to spend

    Other defenders are:
    Moore, Wisdom, Cahill and Bertrand

    Thoughts?

    Chambers out.
    Jenkinson in.

Have three injured players on the bench and hope Aguero makes it and I'll have a full 11 on the pitch without any hits. That's a success in itself it would seem. Can see plenty of (-4) and (-8)s.

Not entirely sure how to proceed from here. I'm guaranteed to take a hit, maybe even two to sort the team out. If Aguero has an ACL injury then I'm tempted by:

    Aguero > Rooney
    Cesc > Hazard
Chambers > City coverage if I can afford it.

Ya. This is our exactly. I sold him a few weeks ago and have been praying ever since that he scores low. Two weeks ago in one of my PL where there are 360+ players there was a 73% Costa ownership. I have no choice but to get him now. That 73% ain't going down now

So last night I did Fab to Siggy

    Aguero out long term
    Fabianski suspended. No sub goalie.

    I'm looking at a minus 8.

If you think he's not worth 11m and you can spend it more effectively then you want everyone else to have him. His blanks and your differentials then shoot you up the rankings

Whatever about doing transfers on a Saturday, you really should not be buying players who haven't played yet, Siggy could have got injured or sent off today, i don't think either were close to going up/down in the table.

    Unlucky about the keeper

Think I will bring Rooney in this week depending on Aguero news and then decide between Jovetic and Dzeko the week after..... Jovetic being the preference if both fully fit

To Costa or not to Costa. That is the question.

Assuming Sergio is gone for the month he needs a replacement. Dzeko has broken my heart so I'll be steering clear for now. Carroll and Lukaku are both enticing but I've already got Mirallas.

There's Bentekers' audition now at 4 too. Plus Rooney and RVP tomorrow night. Carroll impressed me today but Swansea were poor. Costa's potential danger only grows again and is the default captain next GW.

    For now we wait.

I'm rooting for Benteke. When I played my very first season of FPL two seasons ago, he was an absolute hero for me, so I still have a soft spot for him. Re: Costa. I'm strongly considering binning him for the Xmas period. He's done sweet **** all for weeks now.

Looking at it from the other side then, if he hits form and everyone else has him, you will slide down the rankings. Is it not better to own the most popular players and look for differentials in other areas of your team?

Is there any news on the Aguero injury? Is he likely to be back soon?

I'd more agree with this, if for example you don't bring in costa, and use the money elsewhere, and then costa gets 2/3 goals, it will be hard to get him back, probably involve points hits and downgrading someone you don't want to.

The season is long, no need to have significant differentials at this stage.

I'll react in that case with a -4. I honestly don't think he'll be an essential pick over XMas with Drobga and Remy waiting.

Two blanks and two goals before that, it's not great but certainly not terrible. He has been overshadowed by other forwards though and his tendency to get booked and miss out on bonus points does hurt his scores. His stats are still a goal every 90 minutes though, that's pretty damn good!

Think it's Yaya time. If Silva is still out, and Aguero is now gone too, Toure could end up back in a more advanced role.

He's also on penalties now too!

I've hung onto him through his injury and suspension. I just think over Crimbo, he'll probably be benched/rotated a good bit. Remy and Drogba are both good for goals and for the 11mil he's cost... Not sure what I'll do with him tbh.

Be careful. I don't know the exact timing, but in January Yaya will be in Africa for a few weeks playing in the continent's major tournament.

Not sure what to do and I'm not in bad shape considering the injury/suspension list at the moment.

    Guzan (Given)

    Ivanovic, Hutton, Taylor, Moore, Dummett

    Sanchez, Chadli, Toure, Fabregas, Downing

    Bony, Kane, Aguero

Options I'm considering are Fabregas to Di Maria/Hazard and Aguero to Costa/Rooney. Toure gets an extended stay since Aguero is out and will be on set pieces/spot kick duties. Don't have any utd. cover, will wait and see how they get on against Southampton tomorrow night. My main rival has Costa and Hazard, so, it's going to be difficult to not get them both in but I don't want 3 Chelsea players spread across my team alongside everyone else. That said, if they maul Hull at the bridge next weekend I'll be kicking myself.

Obvious differential up front is Dzeko but he lacks consistency and may well get enough chances against Leicester to knock in a couple. Lukaku is another but again the consistency is lacking.

I think I'll avoid Costa which is risky and go Aguero and Fab to Dzeko and Yaya, I might go -4 and get Terry for Chambers which will leave me with Courtois, Terry and Hazard as my Chelsea cover or maybe even Kompany if he's back. I'll just bench Austin and play Boyd as I want to keep Austin until January.

With this rate of injuries and suspensions maybe fantasy football could be 7-aside after Christmas?!

3 red cards - Austin Chambers and Fabianski and Aguero injured sigh!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,735 ✭✭✭sheroman01

Will all depend on the length of Augero's injury. If he's out for a while, I'll bring Costa in for him. Have taken far too many 4pt hits this season and wanted to stop that this week but I need to sort out Fab now (already have Hazard too), so will probably bring in Sanchez for him.

I'm inclined to agree with ya! I know people are saying Yaya is playing deeper but he still has 3 goals in his last 4 games... Reads 10,10,2,10. Citys fixture list is handy too. Might pull the trigger on Aguero, Cesc -> Yaya, Costa.
Africa Cup of Nations isnt on until the 17th of Jan I think so six games between now and then and can downgrade Yaya to any player bar Alexis but I have him.
Also when he scores he nearly always gets 3bps. If he went on a run similar to last year he would be a huge differential!

EDIT: Ugggh he is on 4 yellows....balls...

Agero, Krul, Elliot, Duff injured. Chambers, Austin and Fabregas suspended.

I'll go ahead with my planned transfer (Krul to Pantimillion) but ti looks like I will have to take a big hit to get 11 players out next week. Probably do Fab to Hazard and Aguero to Costa for -8....
