    I feel the same. It didn't help when I was being told it wasnt any old chicken, it was free range! Hoping this year is a bit more traditional.

    Could probably taste more freedom on an american chicken.

    Nah to be honest my Xmas dinner is as follows:
    • Turkey with golden brown crispy skin that has been marinated in it's own meat juice (slow cooked)
    • Roosters shhpuds ;)
    • Roasted potatoes cooked in meat juice
    • Parsnip and carrots
    • Brussel sprouts (can't forget)
    • Bacon
    • Small bit of pork
    • Cauliflower cheese
    And the part to too it all of: *drum roll*
    Gravy mixed with the juice from all the meat :)

    Desert: trifle, cake or whatever sweets are about .

    My plan this year for the grocery shop is to go into town the weekend before Xmas and pick up some supplies from also and lidl.

    On Xmas eve morning, visit s bakery for tarts and a cake before accompanying my mother to a grocery shop which will hopefully be nearly done on my part.

    Turkey, ham, stuffing and gravy then I'm happy.My Mam tends to boil the **** out of veg so I polity avoid :D I'll go for desert if it's black Forrest or apple pie and cream...if not champagne will do.

    2pm for us, 2.30pm at a push. It's Christmas lunch.

    I always have to nap afterwards. Postprandial somnolence is a issue with me (if I eat a big lunch at work I fight to stay awake in front of my computer in the afternoon for example), but at night at least it feels like the right time to be sleepy! A big meal in the daytime on the other hand feels wrong in a way. But I wouldn't want to wait any later for me Christmas din dins!

    I know of people who have dinner well into the evening. 4pm, 5pm, 6pm or later!

    Dinner around 1pm to 2pm.

    Do most of the farm work before dinner, get dinner, have a rest, and then do any farm work that has to be done in the evening, be finished by 6pm.

    Normal Christmas dinner but I have to work around it. Just hope no cow or heifer decides to calve in the middle of mine....

    Mushy peas

    Lemon tart/cheese cake
    Some chocolate abomination from m & s
    Homemade apple crumble & cream
    Tea

    Washed down with lots and lots of red wine.

    My dogs get a mini version of the dinner all mashed up. They love their Xmas dinner :)

    One of my earliest memories of Christmas is having turkey and brussel sprouts at my grandparents. As I grew up, we always had turkey and brussel sprouts. Turkey and brussel sprouts were all the rage for a few years when I was in college. Then, through the Celtic tiger years we went all sophisticated and had turkey and brussel sprouts. Last year we had turkey and brussel sprouts. This year we were wondering what to have and settled on turkey and brussel sprouts, but agreed that next year we would definitely have turkey and brussel sprouts.After that, who knows. My favourite though is turkey with brussel sprouts.

    I've been told I'm making -
    Turkey
    Ham
    Sage and oniom stuffing
    Sausage stuffing
    Roasted carrots + parsnips
    Peas
    Sprouts
    Colcannon
    Mash
    Roasters
    Gravy
    Broccoli

    Then a Christmas cake that my gran is making, chocolate cake, Christmas pudding, and ice cream.

    Out of that, I'll probably eat some ham, turkey, carrots, parsnips and peas. :pac: feckin' hate Christmas dinner.

    After that, I'm going to my OH's mam's house to get drunk.

    Turkey (I prefer the tastier dark meat)
    Ham.
    Mashed spuds.
    Roast spuds.
    Sprouts (cooked in juice of the ham)
    Carrots.
    Peas.
    Stuffing.
    Gravy (optional, sometimes I do and sometimes i don't).

    Rarely have a dessert.
    Mug of tea.

    Not sure about the starter yet, probably little canapés, deviled eggs, crostini with lentil pate, things like that.

    For mains, I'm making filo pastry pie filled with roasted vegetables in thyme and parsley butter, with cheesy béchamel sauce.
    Fried stuffing croquettes
    Hazelback potatoes
    Brussels sprouts
    Red cabbage
    Peas (for the husband, who doesn't like brassicas)

    Desert is going to be a lebkuchen and chocolate mousse, and tons of various German and Austrian christmas biscuits.

    Ooh, that sounds like a good idea.

    I'm no good at making gravy from scratch but the bisto MUST be made with the water from the spuds and juices from the turkey.

    It be vegetarian or with mince meat (chili beef con carne/lasagne) instead of turkey/ham for the while! With added veg. Stuffing needs to be vegy but don't like Brussels sprouts ugh.

    Desserts could be anything more likely pudding and or mince pie.

    Just the standard stuff everyone lists here.

    As much as I love Christmas, I can take or leave the traditional dinner. I love the big sit down meal and all that but would prefer to have different types of food

    My wife feels the same as well but we still do a big traditional xmas dinner every year because my parents come for dinner and we don't want to disappoint them.

    Can't wait for Christmas dinner now!

    We'll have sausages and and brioche at about 11.30 after church. Then dinner at about 6 - I specifically said I didn't want it early this year. If we have it at 3 the toddler is likely to be napping and if he misses food we'll hear all about it!

    No starters in our house.

    We're not big Turkey fans so we were going to do two chickens but then my mum got a free Turkey so we'll have that after all.

    Potato dauphinoise
    Potato croquettes
    Mash
    Brussels sprout (I will eat just one to make my mum happy even though I'm in my 30s and should be past that!)
    Carrot and parsnip mash
    Cranberry sauce
    Gravy

    I'm making desserts this year - toblerone cheesecake and a roulade I think.

    Then a cheese/salami/nuts plate.

    I'm up the duff so off the booze but the others will have wine and a few of my family are into craft beers so they'll have some strange and Christmassy beer they've come across somewhere.

    Pate (mams homemade) and more bread.

    Turkey, ham, stuffing, roasties (homemade in mine, Aunt Bessie's in my mams!!!), mash, carrots and parsnip mash, sprouts, mushy peas if in mine, gravy, cranberry sauce.

    More pate.

    Dessert (choice of trifle/pudding/cheesecake).

    Tea/coffee, chocolates, mince pies (homemade by me)
