As for the advice ban - seriously? elfandsafety - the bane of the modern world.

    Absolutely - and strictly enforced.

Does this mean I can sue someone down the pub if I asked them and got a dodgy tum?

Not unless they wrote down their advice and signed their name ;)

Adding sausages to a casserole is a classic way of cooking them. For example, Cassoulet & Coddle.

When would be a respectable date/time to start the Christmas over indulgence?! :)

Did you open the box of celebrations already?

Lol no, had some prosecco yesterday and was eyeing up a box of minty matchsticks in my local shop earlier as every good home needs a few boxes of chocolates around the festve season! :)

Serious answer? Have treats spread throughout the holidays - instead of a all in a few days. I think it leads to less food-regret and generally better for you.

Prosecco, is that all? You'll be ggrrrraaand. :)

I personally don't start the Xmas indulgence til around the 22nd, 23rd of Dec but that's just always how it was done in my house growing up. My mother would endeavour to loose a few pounds in the month leading up to the 22nd/23rd of Dec. Her thinking was "I know I'll gain a few pounds over the Xmas, this just lessens the gain". I do it myself now too. Plus it makes the lovely Xmas food all the more sweet. But we keep going until the 6th of January and sometimes beyond depending on what is left! Some people would curtail it straight after New Year's Day.

Whatever feels right to you, do it! :pac:

With regard to whether boiled sausages taste nice, that's how they're cooked in coddle. They taste great but some people are put off by the pale appearance.

Yeah, I've had coddle made for me with pale sausages. Jaysus, I had to fry 'em up to brown them off. Gross!!! Ha!

We're into December now so it's "Sampling Season". I had the first chocolate from the Advent calendar this morning :)

We had mini Christmas and prosecco on Saturday! Now I'm in the odd December period where all my normal meals are leaning towards 'spinach and tomatoes' and walking everywhere becomes a necessity because I have a couple of indulgent/celebration type meals or drinks every week from now to the start of January (and not because I'm wildly popular and a huge big boast arriving in to say 'Darling! You won't believe how glamorous my life is! Balls every night from now to Christmas' or anything, it just falls this way with work and very spread out family events.)

Ho ho ho. I'm turning into Santa.

I've been gently easing myself into Christmas over indulgence for the last couple of weeks, the same amount of time I've been listening to Christmas music. Considering I've been talking about Christmas since October I think I held off on the over indulgence for long enough.

Fabulous! I'm not quite ready for that particular prime time, but work has been so crazy recently, with long hours and travel, that when I'm home I'm just making boring, old reliables - and presentation is low down my priority list!

Okay a quickie - is it possible to boil sausages as a way to cook them?

I remember asking my mother about boiling something once and still laugh when I think of her reply...

"Sure you can boil anything" :pac:

Tonight I made a chicken & tomato risotto. It was up there in my top 5 worst meals. A bit deflated as I put a fair bit of work into it but all I'm left with is a big pot of stoge. Herself is late tonight though so is going to the chipper on the way home..phew!

Made a tart with a hat yesterday - tender pieces of chicken, selection of mushrooms, a little carrot, thyme and parsley in a sauce made from creme fraiche loaded into a pie dish and topped with some shortcrust pastry that I found on a plate in the fridge. Baked until the pastry was golden and served with a few boiled spuds. Delicious ?!? Not really. Pastry was dessert shortcrust left over from an apple pie. Doh!

It really doesn't smell delicious. This tastes amazing though, if you like very savoury fishy things, and heed the warning on the box to 'use sparingly'. I wonder does fish food taste good too!!

How are we pronouncing 'clementine'? Rachel Allen is making a cake with them and she's saying 'clementeeeeen', (repeatedly) whereas I've only ever heard them called 'clementiiiiiine' ?

Erra don't mind that wan and her pronunciations!

Erra don't mind that wan and her pronunciations!

That would be my general policy but I'm perturbed now, apparently she's pronouncing it the British way and I'm pronouncing it the American way so I thought it best to check whether there's an Irish way!
