Black Friday on Amazon today, not much there for this forum though, but they do have decent prices on fire starters for the next while, if anyone has an order to bulk up

I think it depends where you are looking I found this Gerber-Diesel-Multi-Plier that looked like it could be a decent buy. I'm sure someone will say if its not. Tempted but I don't really need it.

Actually saw that after posting, but having never used a multi tool, I could not convince myself that it was a great item to have, have a cheapish also one in the Bob, but dint know about daily use of one of them.
I know a lot of people swear by them though

Multitools are a must-have. I use one in work daily and very often at home. It's just so handy to be able to use a blade or screwdriver or can opener in one go.

Bud, it would help greatly if you mentioned the name of the shop and where it is in Carlow and also what ,in particular , appealed to you.

Don't know if they still have them but they had brand new Swiss Army surplus Trangias for next to nothing, think I paid €14.50 for a brand new set.

iirc about picture number 8 in the stove link thread.

Its a cooking system using a meths burner I'll link to some pics.

Easiest thing to do is link to a google search https://www.google.ie/search?q=swiss+army+trangia for swiss army trangia and give the URL for the commercial trangia website http://www.trangia.se/english.

The similarity is in the brass meths burner but they aren't interchangeable between the army version and the commercial one.

I saw one of these in Tescos recently for €6 and took a chance:

    http://www.cnfoutdoors.co.uk/summit-12-led-lantern-with-dimmer-batteries

It came with batteries and even has a nice little compass on the top! It's surprisingly well-built considering the price and with an IP54 rating it's more than up to the task if used outdoors. I was very happy it.

Yes, I used it for the first time at the weekend when I had to do some plumbing repairs in a dark hot press and it was invaluable.

Bought a couple of things in Euro Giant today.

Roll up water bottle with mini carabina €1 hardly mil spec but still handy for making up small lightweight BOBs
50 Mixed Resealable pastic bags €1 3 sizes 50x88 78x135 and 128x195 (all mm) I find the very small ones handy for packing spare AA and AAA torch batteries
Pack of 4 piezo butane lighters €1.50 - been carrying one around for a couple of months and found no problems and the do refill, pick the transparent ones you can easily see how much gas is in them.

Aldi have a good few of their Christmas special items reduced by a reasonable amount. I picked up a couple of rich fruit cakes for €3.49 (were €5.99?) I doubt they will last that long but they had a sensible 2016 BBD.

Odd one but I noticed Lidl have very heavy duty steel frying pans for €16.99. The quality isn't exactly great but if you need a heavy duty frying pan you can stick on a camp fire or BBQ then this will do the job.

Link - will probably only work for a few days while the offer is on

To get the most out of this you will need a 14500 rechargeable battery as they are 3.7v your standard AA is only 1.5v
