Just for those of you uploading your own videos to youtube. If you're going to describe what happens, keep it to a minimum and try not to use words that describe road traffic offences. If the driver sees these videos, there are a number of ways they can go legal on you and for the sake of posting videos here, it's really not worth it. I just go with date and location for video names and an equally bland description to avoid problems such as having my videos removed/account closed by youtube or something more serious.

    .........

Can you please, to back up your assertion, post details of any Court case where this happened?

I'm sure you're right in theory, but has this ever happened in practice? Has a driver every 'gone legal' against a YouTube poster? Has anything worse that YouTube removing the video ever happened?

Yes, on numerous occasions. One example is the DCU student who was in Japan when he was erroneously accused by youtube commenters of doing a runner on a taxi here in Dublin.

Another is the guy who was directed by the Data Protection Commissioner to remove CCTV footage of his house being burgled for breaching the DPAs.

There are lots of other examples, but those are probably two that got a few headlines.

Edit: just to add, in the above case of the DCU student, I don't want to comment since the proceedings are to the best of my knowledge still ongoing but that is certainly a lot more serious than just having YouTube remove the video.

    Interesting,

Wonder would including the reg be grounds for slander?
It's probably not the best place to discuss this because my posts could become lengthy and irritating. It's just a simple suggestion to my fellow dashcam video posters that hopefully keeps things uncomplicated so that we can all continue to post videos and look at others'. :)
Can you please, to back up your assertion, post details of any Court case where this happened?
There are many other legal avenues that can be taken regarding youtube videos than dragging someone through court, so this would be little use.

Reading between the lines of your post, if you wish to challenge my legal knowledge, please do. I'd just ask for the sake of the mods that you do it over in the Legal Discussion forum instead.

No but including the reg and 'Bell end must have been drunk, on the phone or *an*ing' could very well be [defamation].

EDIT Sorry saw the reply above, I'll but out also. If someone wants to star a thread over in Legal Discussions it might be an interesting ride. :pac:

I was thinking of starting one before hullaballoo posted, after I was contacted by a member of AGS after a recent video I posted, may as well post it over in legal discussion!

    EDIT: Done: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=93218579#post93218579

And right on time here's a video..

A compilation of some clips I had..
I'm open to take a battering on some of my driving,
Bear in mind my camera has a 120 ° lense
    1. Mini using wrong roundabout lane
    2. Car stops before toll gate
    3. Car runs red light very late
    4. Cars parked on left and right, impatient taxi.
    5. Barely visible ped
    6. I overtake on the left, (never adjusted my speed)
    7. Is 300 crashed and looks abandoned

On a side note my camera has saved my ass however I can't show it here (legal mumbo jumbo)

Does anyone else love a good parking challenge? Yes, that is a nice big free space on the right, but where's the fun in that :pac:

hullaballoo a car reg # does not identify someone. The examples you listed were where the person was named.

See thread over in legal discussions. I've already put my 2 cents in on this comment over there.

I got them sensors from deal extreme so wouldn't trust them with a Lamborghini behind me, luckily it was my own van behind ;) sure they read 0.0 every time I put it in reverse!

    A few from the M50
Clip 1. Car in lane 1 goes into lane 2 to overtake some cars and then cuts across to take the exit
Clip 2. Comes back across the ghost island
Clip 3. Comes back across the ghost island
Clip 4. Car in lane 3 of the slip road lanes cuts across to lane 1

Now what if I told you there are two cyclists in that clip? :)

A dash cam would have been nice tonight. I watched a 308 undertake on the hard shoulder of the motorway. No idea why as the overtaking lane was clear

Some people literally don't know it's a problem. To be fair in some cases foreigners wouldn't know, but many Irish drivers simply don't understand despite having passed a driving test here or not as the case may be.

It was an 08 Pug with a Wicklow reg. I didn't see the driver, not that it made a difference. It was at motorway speed and there was literally no need for the maneuver. It was near the M9 turn off on the M7. There were road works signs and I was expecting the car would clip one.

Sorry I didn't actually see the hard shoulder bit, I was referring to under taking in general, people seem utterly clueless. Obviously in this case some more than others.

In this case yes but I'd never plead innocent to going up the inside if someone was being a pain and hogging the over taking lane. But jesus going up the hard shoulder is a whole different ballgame

Especially considering the amount of people who think it's a great place to park for an auld chin wag on the phone.

    1. Loads of people (mostly women) have asked me how to use that roundabout, they simply cant grasp it but for the first one I think she may have been ok if she was going right at the 2nd which she wasnt so was in the wrong lane.
