I would like to see IW to cease trading and water to remain controlled by government/local auth
I just wonder which tax the government is going to raise/introduce to raise at least 250,000,000 € needed to pay out the 100€ rebate they now promise.

Just get on with it, make people pay reasonable water charges based on consumption which include the cost to make improvement to the infrastructure.

This solution of making people pay to Irish Water and then getting money back from the Department of Social protection is just as stupid as the initial setup of Irish Water.

It’s a waste of money and an impractical solution, not to mention it makes nearly every household in the country a customer of the Department. But maybe that is the goal of labour, hire more public servants to deal with the claims, a job creation program for friends & relatives.

I travelled to Dublin to march in the last protest, I wouldnt join the protest now if it was passing my door, the thugs have taken over as usual and I for one don't want to have anything to do with them, thanks for spoiling a peaceful movement that could have really brought a change of mindset by government!

I'm sure we'll see plenty of posts like these closer to the date from "concerned citizens".

Please do not let a few people stop you from protesting. There are tens of thousands of us who peacefully protest. By not staying on our side, you stand on the side of the cronies.

With all they have done to us on, can you blame people for being angry? You can only push people so far. By the way,I am NOT condoning bad behaviour.

Please understand that the media are skewing the facts. ESPECIALLY the Irish Independent (owned by Denis O'Brien, who owns IW) and RTE (owned by the state).

For people looking for evidence of police brutality, just watch this video

You're not going to see this kind of stuff in the news now, are you? You're only going to see one side and they will skew it to the hilt.

Please remain on our side. We are all together in this. We must not allow our water supply to be sold to god knows who!

I would expect a knock on the door from the Guards if I were you. I doubt they will take that post lightly and will probably want to speak to your cousin about where he is getting his information from. This is a very serious allegation and will need to be followed up.

They could look up his name in a phone book or something to find where he lives.

He said he lives in Belgium but was also claiming that he would be out protesting in support of the Irish water charges.

    Something is amiss?

You implied that you work for IW in the last thread. You mentioned their intranet and how you couldn't link to a page on it.

You're touched in the head pal. Stop digging a hole for yourself.

Btw, have Gardai been round to chat to you yet about what your cousin said?

No point in watching the news for information on the Revolution. Why would RTE or any of the Denis O'Brien owned media outlets want to show people rejecting a government who fails them?

No, they're much more interested in fear-mongering and yet again dividing society. Why? So we fight with each other instead of fighting back against them.

Every time you judge your fellow man for wanting to make a difference, you stand on the side of the cronies in government and banking!

While being for water charges I don’t agree with you, there was no need for an immediate arrest which just would have create possibly violence, the Gardaí did a good job there, they protected the peace.

The residents had their 15 seconds of fame.

Now once IW come back and the residents still obstruct than it’s a different matter, than action must be taken, but in this climate right now, it’s fair to give residents the space to vent and make a symbolic stand.

It can’t continue for ever and further obstructions need to dealt with under the appropriate authority, otherwise it’s unfair to those who pay their bills.

No I do not say the people should be allowed to break the law, I simply advocate giving people a chance to vent their anger peacefully.
