    I'm surprised that this is even being debated! Nidge is quite obviously dead. One of Nidge or Fran was going and the producers decided that Fran would live to fight another day.

    I'm friends with one of the cast members and he has just put up a status that could be interpreted as saying that the show is over for good.

    If not, I can see the main players next season as being Fran, Patrick and Terrence. I'm not sure how they'd tie the three in together though.

    Glad they didn't kill Fran off, although he might need a soft chair for probably the rest of his life and not be too keen on a game of pool any time soon.

    Looks like Nidge is dead, hard to know what direction the series will take now if he is and who will take over.

    I liked Siobhan it's a pity they seem to have got rid of her.

    Trish looked well in that dress.

    I know its only a TV show, but it's interesting how many people think that Fran's scene is a good excuse for a bad pun. I don't remember any jokes when Siobhan was raped. Strange double standard.

    Get used to it people, its over, críochnaithe.

    Siobhán was mortally wounded, Nidge was shot in the heart, dead, Fran permanently disabled or likely to die of the injuries.

    Theres nobody left worth hanging another series on, we're supposed to deduce that crappy life goes on for the few people left. Trish loses the high life but has her boys, Elmo for a long stretch, Aido trying to avoid the inevitable gear habit etc etc.

    World keeps turning...

    So...

    - Fran escaping from prison turned to be pointless

    - Showing Tommy all season in the coma turned out to be pointless.

    - Going to Spain turned out to be pointless.

    - And after all the big rigmarole made of Git's finger, that whole thing turned out to be pointless as well! (unless Nidge survives).

    Great series all the same, but seems budget constraints kinda fcuked it up a bit though.

    Really think people are kidding themselves if they think this isn't the end.

    Nidge is dead, Fran is locked up for at least 10 years on 2 firearms charges and Elmo is locked up too. There is no story to carry on, Aidos character isn't strong enough to take over.

    Just couldnt think of any. Besides Fran is a warped sadist, what happened him is appropriate to the drama

    Agree it makes sense for it to be over.

    But should have been way clearer - was a half arsed finish.

    Well was a great ending - if doubt wasn't there.

    What is it about hitmen in Love/Hate? Why do they not aim for the head???

    It's either because Carolan wants to leave open the possibility of their returning, or else the RTE Special Effects Dept. doesn't exist. Either way, it's all a bit lame.

    His character and his portrayal of that character was proper z list stuff compared to what followed in later series, same for John Boy.....there's no comparison

    Anyone who thinks Nidge will survive is off their head. No way he is surviving that. Fran's f**ked too. I'm assuming he bled to death, either way, he's not getting out of jail for at least 10 years.

    I know people will criticise tonight's episode and I understand why. But f**k me, it had me glued to the TV and fully entertained tonight and throughout the series. That's the job of the show. It's entertainment, not a documentary.

    Hats off to all involved in Love/Hate. I presume that this is the end and it's been absolutely fantastic.

    1. Why not just go shoot him in the head? You are there, you have time, just a bullet in the head to be sure. Otherwise I wouldn't count him as dead just yet.

    2. Everyone going on about the Fran scene...basically take right from the Sopranos, only a bit more graphic. Although if you have ever watched Oz, you might understand why I wasn't overly shocked about this scene.

    3. Everyone saying it has to end, its over blah blah, this was exactly the same thing that was said when Darren died, I'm fairly sure they can come up with other stories.
