I don't like posting in here as a woman right now so I haven't been.

Of your 700 odd posts, 600+ of them have been in AH, and you're only back here a month. Doesn't seem like you have an issue posting here tbh.

Id imagine theres a lot of women who post in After Hours who haven't noticed any major issues.

Id be more curious to see what they think seeing as they are women and these views are meant to be aimed at them as well.

Oh indeed I do as I already stated. As I said before, I like posting in here but it's unpleasant for a female poster in the last while.

I blame the sexy street harassment thread!
We where all grand before that!

What a great name for a.thread that was though.

I feel it's inconceivable that you'd be aware of your own feelings. :pac:

I hadn't noticed it to be honest. I like girls/women in general. Obviously there are a few I wouldn't be a fan of but that's the same with blokes. I've always gotten on a lot better with women for some reason.

In the past I have tried to get discussions going on female masturbation but was immediately shot down. Presumably the mods thought I was some male troll. As a woman, I find it difficult to discuss this issue with other women, so I thought it would be easier under the veil of anonymity. But boards.ie is obviously not the place to discuss it, because the idea that women could possibly masturbate is ABSOLUTELY PREPOSTEROUS...

Now wait for the abuse this comment gets...

Oh contraire, I would love for you to tell me all about it...

Nah I'm just saying I have an issue with the misogyny for the laugh. OBVIOUSLY The Zohan knows how I feel more than I do myself. Sure, what would I know about how I feel.

I couldn't be arsed. Do you genuinely believe it'd be hard for me to find examples? Really? Really O'Reilly?

    That's a very defeatist attitude!

the likes angela scanlon makes me misogynistic, so many women are like that these days..pretentious, fake, think they're hilarious..At the back of it all the bull**** they know they can use they're sex appeal/looks to get what they want.

That therapy not working out for you mate? Perhaps the self administered aversion therapy of constantly exposing yourself to the stimuli of women typing opinions and you building up a good head of general disgust at them is back firing a bit?

All i know is in nearly every thread i post in on here plenty of women reply and are part of it. There not a dying breed in here and id imagine a lot of them dont have any issues with this forum or the site.

There on here just to get from it what they want to never mind anything else.

I'm more of a misanthrope myself

We should unite or is that untie

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 247 ✭✭liz lemoncello

Have talked to lots of girls in real life who had no issue with talking about it in the presence of lads and received no problems for it so not sure why you'd have trouble doing the same in private with only girl friends

Not my post that is being responded to here, but I'll hazard a guess: everyone is different?

In any case, with all due respect to ewinslet, is there not a forum better suited than AH to the discussion of female masturbation?

Well, I for one stopped following this thread http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057321846 earlier today as I was sick to the stomach from the generalisations and band-wagon jumping about women having a "cvnt gene". I only pop in here to AH till I can take no more, but like others I think it's got worse recently.

when I first started here there'd be the classic comments along the lines of "make me a sandwich/get back in the kitchen" "there's no women on the internet hardy har har" "Pics or gtfo" etc etc. Found them mildly irritating at the time, never imagined that seven years later I'd be missing them and flooded with nostalgia in the face of:

1: Suspended sentences for sexual assault being somehow held up as a damning indictment of the prejudice against males in the justice system.

2: Posters warning other men not to get married because if it doesn't work out a woman will take your house, your kids, and your fcuking soul. Because that's what we do.

3: The inexorable draw that a thread on why feminism is still relevant has on mostly male posters, flocking in to tell us that no we don't, no, we're wrong. Not just "some aspects of feminism" or "radical feminism", but all of it.

4: Men putting us somewhere on the spectrum between deluded idiots and two-faced liars whenever the subject of what we find attractive in a man comes up.

Obviously not all men, etc etc. Also I'm not a big fan of most internet feminism, but the backlash against it (which in certain respects is very valid) has brought some real slimey little sh1ts crawling out from under their rocks. The mood on here sometimes can definitely be very misogynistic but it's just a reflection of what's going on online more generally.

I don't bother posting in AH that often but reading through threads I haven't noticed anything more than the odd joke which while not very funny most of the time I wouldn't consider it offensive or malicious.

I hadn't noticed any more than usual in recent times tbh, but that's not to say there hasn't been more posted

But you defended him when I suppposedly attacked him?

Your comment seemed pretty pointless, why bother telling him something he already knows.

You can remain willfully ignorant to it all if you want but it doesn't mean it's not true.

You have a terrible of habit of making assumptions when you post (eg. "willfully"). There are perhaps some isolated cases of misogyny, but as I said before it is not a big problem, certainly not in the way you or the OP make out.

Sorry milord I'll try to do all your work for you next time I promise you won't have to research anything yourself!

You want him to read every single post on boards.ie and divine which ones are, in your opinion, misogynistic?

Me personally i find it hard to post in AH at times because i have no interest in getting into a lot of the topics.

They dont really offend me its more i know they will be either boring or total train wrecks. For example the thread you mentioned in fairness before that even gets going you know the path it will go down so thats why i didnt bother with it.

This is what i mean by avoiding things in AH.

I post in here a lot and but it doesn't mean I don't find the misogynistic undertones unpleasant. I avoid certain threads and stick with the more light-hearted ones but the ones to avoid are more becoming more prolific in the last while.

Why ignore the women (and men) who DO have an issue with it? Look at those who thanked the posts on the first page. That's a fair whack of the regular female posters. Why should our POV be discounted because some women don't agree with us?

Ha! Clearly :P Sorry, got an English fella. It may have something to do with me overusing the word. "Dude" any better? My kids prefer it...?
