Aaah... okay.. I think I'll stick with my €710 2ltr and dream about owning a 1.2ltr post-08 diesel some day... :P:o

I know it's a comment that's always often looked down upon (on boards), but I can't justify tax over €710. I think that's my personal limit for motortax.

Out of curiousity... anyone know what the tax is, off hand, on a Focus.. erm.. is it RS? or ST? (the 2.5ltr petrol one)? (post-08)

Also, does anyone know what the difference is in the bonnets on them? (some have a normal plain bonnet, others have a more aggressive boy racer bonnet.. that i actually like the look of).

I'd probably never, ever own one, but its been in my head for the last couple of weeks that I'd like one at some point..:o

Don't know exactly but at a performance 2.5T they will be over your €710 KKV :)

I've come across more checkpoints in the last few weeks than I have in the previous two years...

The RS is the one to get but their expensive as they are the top spec focus. I don't really follow those cars but I rekon it would be the RS with the fancy bonnet but alot of ST owners may have put that bonnet on theirs.

Spent the last half an hour trying to cut the nails on my right hand with my left hand with a scissors while watching top gear.... productive night... :pac: (It's actually impossible to do! I lost my clippers :()

Yeah, i decided to stop being so lazy and do a quick donedeal check. I'm not too clued into Focus' (focuses? not sure what the plural is!) but i think you're right, in what you are saying.

Strangely enough.. looking at this ad it's apparently €710 on the dot!? :D

Although maybe it's too good to be true.. This one says €1,214.. so.. :o

If I had €30k to splash on a car I'd be tempted to get one. In reality I wouldn't really have to worry about the tax as I'd only have to pay 3months anyway. I live in Drogheda. By the time the 3 months rolled around it'd have been stolen and burned out, I'm sure.

    That's a crap reality if true :(
We can have cars unlocked, left around the yard everywhere etc and nothing will come to them out here in the sticks :D

I even leave the keys in the ignition a lot of the time, even if the car is parked across the road :o

Same as me I often went to bed with key left in ignition, car unlocked, wallet left in car etc... and it would be still there untouched in the morning.

Well when I'm at home home, in Mayo I'd leave the keys in the ignition. Live down a small quiet road, only neighbours really pass in their cars.

Only a couple of weeks ago some chap was lifting the camera back pack out of my boot. Thank god he dropped it when I gave chase.

Drogheda's a great little town in many ways, but it's jam packed with thoroughbred scumbags too. If I had an RS it'd be gone fairly swiftly I'd say. Although truth be told, I'd imagine that it'd be damaged out of jealousy/spite before it was ever stolen. I'd give it a week, max, before it was keyed. (maybe im being too pessimistic, but that'd be my genuine expectation).

Truth be told, unless I had a garage to keep it in, or an area it's locked up away from sight, i just wouldn't buy one living in this town. You'd only be inviting heartache on your door. :( My 30k would probably be spent on a Fiesta instead, and a holiday or two.

Same here. Keys left in ignition overnight no problem.

Quiet place, middle of nowhere. :D

    Why not?

No hassle with looking for them in da house - just one of a number of reasons. :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,845 ✭✭✭Noccy_Mondy

I wouldn't leave them in overnight now or anything, just during daytime, if I'll be using the car later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,193 ✭✭✭Cleveland Hot Pocket

Same here, wouldnt do it overnight but I've often left the keys in the ignition if im going out again in a while.

    True, but:

    - nobody knows where I live.

    - it's hidden behind a house.

    - it's not a kind of car you'd love to steal.

    - how would insurance company prove I left them keys in?

Driving down the M1 today, Yaris camping in the overtaking lane at 110 kph. Sat behind said Yaris for 1-2 min's, indicated a few times nothing. A Mondeo comes up behind me fast, so I pull in-no point sitting there as well as the dumbass in Yaris obviously wants to stay in the overtaking lane.

So the Mondeo sits on the Yaris' bumper for a good 2-3 minutes-obviously in a rush-the Yaris still won't move. Next he puts on blue lights-still sitting right behind, and still the Yaris won't move out of the way. This goes on for another 2 minutes. Eventually the siren goes on, after 1-2 minutes the Yaris finally pulls over, at this stage its the three lane section. Thought the Cop would floor it and go, but no. To my absolute delight he pulled them over!

The cop did not look impressed either, hopefully he tore them a new one. I do a lot of mileage and often gets stuck behind these inconsiderate tossers, its great to see a Guard pull someone for this.

    Well done that Guard :D

There was some serious rain fell the whole way to cork this morning really bad traffic too a 1 hour 50 minute journey that turned into 3 hours. Ah sure at least the car got a wash :pac: on a serious note I cleaned it yesterday morning reasonably well then drove to waterford and there was dust dirt on the road and it got covered in it. So after this morning journey most of it got washed off not bad I suppose. It always seems impossible to keep a car clean over the winter or maybe it's just the roads I travel.

Was driving from Dundrum to Swords about half one, mother of god the queues to get into the shopping centre caused tailbacks all the way to the M50

The car decided to frighten me on the drive home, with the engine temperature sitting very low and not getting to it's normal temp until I was at the Finglas exit of the M50

Bizarrely it's not getting up to the right temp in it's normal time.
