No I'm being entirely serious. All the recent football games are far better and are constantly improving, how could you argue against it?

At least in comparison in the days when playing GOAL on the NES, or ISS on the snes. It looks comical now.

looks are not everything, game play is king....loved sensible soccer myself..

That's largely because a lot of offences were being committed back then and not being reported, there's a good reason for paedo hysteria now, and it was because of what was happening back in those days that was causing it.

And thats partly the reason so few men are joining the priesthood now.

That particular career doesn't have the same perks it had in the last century.

The paedos now have to resort to snatching kids off the street.

That could be because the actual religion is daft to the majority of rational people to begin with.

I’ve just come to realise how awful it was to be a kid in the 80s/90s. Cartoons were crap, music was awful (in both decades), cheesy movies, computer games and consoles were played were also embarrassing, everything about being a child totally sucked then.

Part of the reason why I think this is largely due to the amount of remakes Hollywood are making from the 80s and 90s now and how much better they are. Everything they’re creating now is far better than the horribly sh1ttty originals back in the 80s/90s, Transformers, Turtles, Thundercats, Karate Kid etc, all horrible from the 80s and kids these days are clearly growing up with much better forms of them no doubt.

It makes me be ashamed of being a child from that generation looking back at it, I’m jealous of the kids now, everything they have is far better. Chart music from this decade is at its best ever, record sales to back it up before anyone argues otherwise, (Happy could will go down as the best selling song ever). Kids have it so great now, I’m jealous I wish I was one at this time!

I’m trying to banish my memories from those two crappy decades, I hate them so much. Anyone else agree?

I disagree with the OP entirely. I am, however, following this thread because it's great for nostalgia!

That's when you had books handed down to you that had no outer covers.

At least way back then you didn't know what the xmas no. 1 would be, nowadays it's some stupid karaoke cover being pawned off on X Factor.

I think remakes are about broad base appeal between the adults nostalgia for their youth and the bs pg rating trying to bring in the kids. I'm a sucka for it, i'm gonna go see the turtles film.

Captain caveman was a deadly cartoon. How can you say 80s and 90s cartoons were crap? Have you looked at the modern tom and Jerry? Pure ****e they show nowadays. Don't get me started on that regular show

In terms of music (and this isn't something most people would agree with), I actually think the 90s was a great time to grow up. When I was 5-7ish, I and most people I knew liked S Club 7. Bands like them, steps, B'witched, whoever else, were great for kids, I think. Fairly tame songs, nice upbeat tunes about 'reaching for the stars'.. There doesn't seemed to be any music aimed at kids anymore, it's a shame really.

 Ever read the lyrics to "C'est La Vie" and thought about what they meant? B*Witched were NOT suitable for kids!

If you don't appreciate Animaniacs then there is no hope for you. You may as well be put down right now.

loved the 80's, great music, proper bands( Metallica early stuff, ACDC, Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd even the bad music was good fun ), first music videos. Video Games were great, we had arcades, we even had fishing in ireland believe it or not and community spirit. Tv wise, the A Team, Knight Rider, Airwolf, Quantem Leep, then Star Trek Next Gen in the 90's.

I reckon the 80's was one of the best decades, times were tough but there was a lot less consumerism and keeping up with the jones's crap that exists now.

The only thing that disappoints me about living in rural ireland in the 80's was it was impossible to get books on computer programming and the likes. and getting new computer games usually ment mail order from the uk and wait 3-4 weeks for delivery whilst getting ripped off with sterling postal order in An Post.

Ignoring idiots who comment "far right" because they don't even know what it means
