That was some episode. In fairness the one that followed was excellent too although ill never forget that shocking scene with Darren. I was unable to speak for a whole five minutes. The finale was brilliant too and in particular the shootout in Nidges housing estate. Fúck it that whole series was fantastic

Of the gangsters of the original cast, only Nidge and Elmo remain (How long can both survive?)

John Boy, Hughie, Robbie (Darrens brother), Darren, Lizzie, Stumpy, Git, Dano, Lizzies brothers (Ray and Paddy) and Wayne (Cat Killer) are all gone.

I must also point out that Tommy is pretty much fúcked id say.

Depends on the actors wishes though. If he wants to move on id say theyll have to write him out just as they did with Aiden Gillen and Robert Sheehan

    Awwwwwwwwww :(

Wow, Elmo (Lawrence Kinlan) has had to deal with unbelievable tragedy

In fairness if people are going to be on a pc and try watch this - it is not going to work.

    Very fast pace.

I tend to watch each episode twice - in fact watching it for a 3rd time now - can write on 3rd time :D

Killing off Nidge won't happen. His character is too popular.

Over time this show has proved that they are not afraid to kill off big characters.

If it makes you feel better i reckon he might stay on for Season 6 but will be in prison. I think that could be the final season. At that point the whole life cycle of your average drug kingpin will have been covered.

    Good acting there by Patrick

    On the headstone comment.

Not just the writing the acting.

Re: rewatching old episodes on a tablet. I was planning on watching again from season two on.

Its not on any of the Netflixs.

The links for, at least, season 2 are dead on Pr*m*w*r* and also S*l*rm*v*e.

Ive no idea how to get Hulu and dont like the sound of ads every 5 minutes on it.

And torrents are out as I want to stream to the tablet.

    Grrr!

He will die in last episode of last series. (Next year ?)

Looks like fran might die in this series. Paul Williams said in a recent interview that he believes either fran or nidge is going to get killed.

I really like Nidge but it is hard to see how he will develop further

Yes. Even what appears to be a minor scene can lead to major storylines. Also of course we must remember there are stories from earlier series (2, 3 and 4 mainly) revived.

In that moment where Nidge offered Patrick the money im sensing that Patrick now feels that Nidge isnt in the same position of power and that he is very much under Terrence and Paulies thumb. Terrence and Paulie in turn seem to prefer calm waters. Bit like the Carlton Crew in Melbourne really. They would rather go about their business drawing little attention to themselves. Patrick is smart and has grabbed the occasion to put more pressure on Nidge

I think Fran is on borrowed time - he could do a lot of damage to Nidge - The bone to pick...line had to be brought up for some reason and Siobhan had to overhear for some reason - now it may not mean much to her out of context but it was her hubby that killed the rira rapist - and in doing this ultimately Nidge losing his head and rendering tommy comatose (eventually)

Series 3 really stood out and the fallout is still intrinsic to the plot. I think Tommy being in a coma is a waste of a good actor tbh - but I think if he dies Siobhan will have even more reason to pin things on Nidge - if he pulls through she will be in a very awkward position - only if Tommy regains some of his character pre beating.

I would like to see Siobhan become a stronger female lead - most of the women bar Lizzie (who was a little too psychotic) seem to just fulfil background roles. I suppose that's how it is in these sort of mob scenarios but it is fiction so it would be nice to put a few unexpected twists in - This weeks opener had some moments, but it seemed scattered - hopefully it's just a setup for a better series.

I thought the script wasn't very tight - e.g. Nidge was warned I don't know how many times by the bloke in Spain that he couldn't mess up and probably wouldn't last long in any case. Yes, we heard you the first time.

Very watchable of course, but hoping for an improvement from here on.

I thought the same, it was a bit much alright.

Why do people always play the "oh you just don't understand the complex storyline" card when people point out ropey writing?

From last season Paddy fled for his life after Nidge tries to have him killed, now all of a sudden he comes back and not only attempts to kill Nidge, but then flat refuses a truce and cash and starts handing out death threats?

Also he started the sitdown by saying "I just wanna knock this on the head", Nidge puts his foot in his mouth once and suddenly he wants a war? It's just bizarre, and pretending you are understanding some complex story mechanics which explains all this even more bizarre

    agreed :o

The first episode in series 3 has been by far the best episode so far.

I agree, I loved the way it ended with the musical interlude as they went for a cup of tea, brilliant. It all went to crap when they brought Da guards into it!!
I can see all these wannabe chase writers in RTE brainstorming in a room, ya sure, it's like the wire meets sopranos!! all real covert stuff, tough veteran cop recruits slick flying squad to take down the baddies!!

whatever, yes season 3 was very good I thought. now the show is, while worth a watch for conclusion purposes, diluted beyond measure. THUS far anyway.

But why is the Traveller lad insistent on doing away with Nidge ?

Surely he would have just accepted the 10k ?

On a re watch, Patrick is also insulted that they think he can be bought off, that they think the money matters that much to him that he will forget what has happened. He wanted respect and the entire sit down he felt disrespected. This will escalate.

Some other ramblings on the rewatch, Terence will get a sore face from doing the crazy eyes constantly, the nephew has a constant dumb expression on his face too which I know is going to annoy me.

The woman Patrick talks to at the site is definitely not his mother, a sister maybe? Calls her Kitty, which obviously wouldn't do if she was his mother.

Really not sure about this new bodyguard they have set Nidge up with, there may be a sting in the tail there. I think this will be Frans last season, he will try to kill Nidge and one of them will go. They may cop out of it and just have one of them locked up but I think Fran is on his way out.

I am curious to see if Nidge will attempt to double cross Terence at some point, it is a possibility given Nidge's history and ruthlessness when he feels cornered. It was a good start to the season, I still like how the Spain part was done, given the time constraints of the season it linked in and advanced 3 different stories very well imo, some will like and some won't I suppose. Not a big deal really.

The GPS tracker is still on the car I assume, or else it was a little bit pointless tbh, may as well just had a couple of guys tailing him, alternating so he didn't cop on to it.

Travellers would tell you to shove your money if they thought you had disrespected their son.

Why they needed a GPS tracker to track a guy moving openly around a small part of a small city defeats me anyway.

I wondered about this storyline myself, why did terence loan nidge the money if he was so adamant that he was gonna get whacked soon, i cant help thinking theres an ulterior motive here

Is everyone aware of the Love/Hate forum request? I think it would be much handier to have a forum for this than just one thread for all the little questions and stuff

Terence probably is setting Nidge up. Use him, get him into trouble, get him to do his dirty work, ultimately aims to get Nidge killed/arrested and Terence has one rival less. Nidge clearly knows Terence well and it has been said on various occasions in the series Nidge would head to Spain if things got too much in Dublin (esp. series 3 finale). So, Terence does not want a rival in his patch!

Last season Nidge spent half his time looking for a tail.

Some people here need to relax a bit and just enjoy the show. Trying to pick holes with every single thing. At the end of the day it's fiction. Weird unpredictable things happen in real life too. Being as pedantic as some are in this thread, you could pick apart the Wire, Sopranos, even early seasons of Love\Hate and make them look bad

Good post. For me it seems as Terence is the boss of bosses so he could have Nidge dead and buried whenever he felt like it.

He also seems to be much smarter than Nidge.

The weasel is in big trouble!
