A friend of mine and I used to run one where you picked 2-6-6-6 formation, no budget but you had to pick 1 player to cover every club. We had our own scoring system, very similar to Fpl as it happens. It was all on excel back in the day when our excel skills were crap. We used to do the player scores for the week individually and then compare. We had a transfer window too around Xmas, 4 in, 4 out. It was madness really, had over 150 teams one season!!

I still have the excel files somewhere too!

I probably played the same one. What was the prize?

Sorry, in work so only ducking in and out. First prize £10,000. Second prize £0!

Because you couldn't really make any transfers the leading teams were obviously very similar so the team which came second had 11 of the same players as mine. I thought I'd lost it when Blackburn Rovers got a clean sheet on the final day of the FF season (they'd split it in two - one up to Christmas and the other one after) as he had Colin Hendry. Lo and behold, Colin Hendry had missed the game because he was at a training camp with Scotland (!).

Di Maria and Clyne the only rises.

About 30 drops. Notables are Bojan, Drogba, Mario, Yaya, Debuchy, Hazard, Naismith, Eto'o, Chester.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that Rikand was simply joking. Of course there's some kind of system and formula in place, we just don't have all the information. Even if it's just that every 83 hours somebody hits a big shiny "randomiser" button changing everything. I mean Ulloa obviously got his 2nd rise before the 83 hours were up :pac:

It certainly made things interesting for about 10 posts though didnt it :)

Somehow Ivanovic is not rising... Strange. I guess he was not in many WC teams this past week considering his price tag and Chelsea late results...

Any idea if Rooney will drop?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 903 ✭✭✭JIdontknow

Rooney doesn't seem like he's going to drop tonight, around 50% towards one. From what I can see seems players likd ulloa, pelle, costa maybe ivanovic will rise soon though.

Falcao dropping was great - was able to get him and silva for Rooney and Ramsey. Was 0.1 short yesterday

Bertrand and Sterling rise. Cazorla and Giroud fall.

Surprised as the Sterling rise, given he was fairly anonymous on Saturday!

Ah forgot that... even though I was watching the game!

Costa now 11.1m and ADM 10m
If people don't have either of these by this stage they'll soon find them very difficult to buy.

Ramsey dropped again. Prices really falling fast this season

People jumping off Naismith very fast.

I'm keeping him a few weeks yet, price plummet or not.

Seems to be a disproportionate amount of drops compared with rises. By the time the January wildcard rolls around there'll be 5/6 players with huge prices, but more than a few bargains too.

Adm now more expensive than hazard happy with that as I'll be making that swap in a few weeks.

Glad I swapped Ramsey out for Silva before he dropped, wouldn't have been able to do it otherwise! It's at the stage where you can't really wait to do the transfers anymore, have to jump on it straight away.

Yeah I was a big advocate of waiting till Friday to make transfers but you really can't this week. Price rises/falls happening so much this year means you really lose out.

Even if there's 3/4 times this year when your Sunday transfer in gets croked on a Wed, it seems to be worth the gamble.

thus being to the advantage of savvier players.

Brought him in on WC so can move if he limps out.
On another note, none of the price prediction sites had Dzeko near a rise last night.

Di Maria and Costa were predicted, while Dzeko and Baines were not. Its still very hit and miss. I have cntinued to monitor but havent had a chance to post...

Last night Dzeko, Baines, Costa and ADM went up.

The predictions were as follows on FISO and FPLS

On Sunday night the risers were Bertrand and Sterling. FPLS were bang on on Sterling and way of on Bertrand. FISO had both to rise but FISO is polluted with predicted risers that they clearly have wrong but and keeping on the list so its hard to know what to trust.

Gah, think I may have to pull out the wildcard this week, price drops are going to limit my options at this rate.

    Considering the points differential between

Aguero+Sigurdsson vs Dzeko+Silva. This would be much easier if Aguero got himself injured :|. Thoughts anyone?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,274 ✭✭✭✭FHFC

Saturday night we had Downing, Ulloa, Pelle, Heaton and Ivanovic (at last).

FPLS had three of the 5 right (near enough) and close with Downing. Nowhere on Pelle.

FISO had 4 out of 5 and close with Downing, but again messed up by too many incorrectly predicted rises.

At least when FPLS is wrong on a rise it seems to recalibrate, where as FISO still show Shawcross etc hitting 170% so it muddies the waters.

Meanwhile, up to last night we now have a total of 556 price drops to 96 rises this season.

Total gains of 9.6m v losses of 55.6m so value overall is down by 46m.

Thats a further nett devaluation of 7.3m since I did a similar analysis (See post in team value thread) a week ago.

And yes, it is indeed a slow day at work.... ;)

That's amazing. I'd love to see a comparison with last year, I'm sure it's very different.

Looking a few teams in by private league, a lot of them haven't gained much value at all, and in fact, some of them are under £100m (not as serious players in fairness).

Isgrove the cheapest player (relative to position) in the game at £4.3M, might be useful to one or two who need to free up an extra 0.1 to strengthen elsewhere. i wouldn't be confident of him getting much game time, however
