€348 for the OPO after Parcel Motel, and dont forget that gets you the 64 GB internal storage model, so knock off the cost of a large SD card aswell, also you'll have it in your hand in 2-3 days from ordering. Also the OPO is already a major success so expect it to be heavily supported for a couple of years to come. And most importantly its the finest piece of electronics Ive ever held :D

You should budget for customs after that. Which is about 60-80 euro on a phone that price.

It can be got cheaper if bought from inside the EU, although price at the beginning is about 30-40 euro more.

Its all about the risk of customs.

Personally, if you're going to spend 250, i'd look at a nexus 5.

hardly. sure the OPO is €360 via parcel motel give or take a few euro. This is substantially less for what looks like a superb phone. Might get one myself too now after reading more about them.

Can get it sent to Germany then onto here for 323.

Hmmm I thought it was under 300 using the invite system.

The Nubia is still a better bet than the MI3 in my opinion

I cannot see anything with that phone that would make me want to buy it for 35 euro less than OPO and that is not including shipping or customs charges.

What is the draw to that phone?

    It has -

    - pretty bad battery
    - only 16gb rom

That's just a rebranded Gionee Elife S5.5 which has been out for a good while. Nothing special about it really, main selling points are the amoled display and design/thinness

You do have to pay customs, but many of the HK/China sellers mark down the value and have been getting away with it, with no guarantees.

To 'avoid' charges you need to buy from a EU supplier or warehouse, and pay a bit more upfront.

Ya I thought so. The phone was shipped from coolicool's Dutch warehouse.
I don't mind paying the taxes but I hope they haven't seized it for another reason. Time will tell.

Looking for a cheap (under 50 euros) China Android for a kid...

Will need to play Simpsons Tapped out - maybe minecraft.

What should I look out for?

thinking of this one for €45 euros

Do you think it will be up to the task - cannot find any reviews - but the processor and ram look decent for the price

    Processor: MTK6589T, 1.0GHz
    Memory / RAM: 512MB
    Flash Memory / ROM: 4GB

you'll struggle to find a phone under 100 that'll plat those games. perhaps look for a tablet. you'll need at least 1gb of ram to make the thing usable though. 512mb just doesn't work with anything anymore

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,549 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

Definitely stay away from anything with 512mb RAM, that was shyte even back in the day...

Buy cheap buy twice applies to these cheap phones aswell unfortunately, €50 is a bit too much of a stretch, like asking in motors for a €400 car, you'll get something but it wont be pretty and most likely wont be up to the job. Anything under 90-100 will probably only have 512 mb RAM so pointless getting it for gaming applications.

you won't get anything capable of gaming at that price. gaming is one of the hardest things for a phone to do. most phones under 100 wouldn't even have mali-400. you'll need to significantly up your budget :)

I was really interested in buying a mi4 but I see the 4g version is not available til December 2014. I can't wait that long. Is there any other Android from China with 4g, 3gb RAM, similar processor, 64gb memory on the market now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,766 ✭✭✭RossieMan

The one plus one fits exactly what you're after.

original Lenovo phone Android 4.4.2 MTK6592 Octa Core Real 2GB Ram 16GB Rom 5.5"HD 1920*1080p screen 13mp Camera 3G Smartphone

Is this thing worth buying? Just need a smartphone with dual sim. Not for gaming. Not too bothered about 4g. Do I need a TF card or is it as easy to pick one up locally if needed. 77.50 euro

have you a link to the seller? seems far to low of a price for it to be real.
