    Chopped the tail right down on my street triple and fair bit of road muck gets thrown up now- don't know if I'd be 100% recommending it done on such a similar 'short' bike, if you get me

    Yeah, I did notice that the ones with the tail tidies look tiny ;)

    I have plans for some givi cases for it, they're hard but look like soft cases and I need the lights sticking out the back so they can be seen.

    The VFR is in getting treated to new discs, pads seals the hole shabang and I was kindly given an 1190 adventure as a spare.

    Very impressed with it and I think it is on the short list for my next bike,.

    The Hack of the thing....is that the one with the triangle front on it!!!! If it is its a horrible looking machine, might be the bizzo to drive all the same. Drop up later on and giz a blast on it.

    I fitted the new mirrors. Still need a bit of adjustment but im very happy with the wider viewing angle :)

    Fixed my choke cable after the bike was in a front fork work and came back all shagged. now the bird is back to normal levels of drinkin petrol!

    Not a patch on some of the work being done on-thread, but took a socket wrench to a motorbike for the first time ever today, to stick the bag guards on the Marauder's back fairings. Picked up a set of bags from JP on pearse street, as well as putting my eye on a few yokes for when the learner permit goes in the bin.

    Well it wasn't so much what I did today as to what I found today!..

    I was undecided about a training cycle or wash the motorbike, I decided the motorbike needed a clean and look what I found!..

    Disc is getting a bit worn down on my own yoke. I'll be keeping a close eye on it now.

    I'll order a new disc on Monday, thankfully its not a front disc or I'd be stuck for work this evening and tomorrow.

    If you are getting a new disc might aswell throw on new pads to boot.

    Its right through, but not from edge to edge (if that makes sense).

    Its right through, but not from edge to edge (if that makes sense).

    I rode it to work last night, silly I know but with some advice (got a bollocking from the lads ~ biker bar) I've decided to wise thing to do is park her up until I pick up a disc during the week.

    I've no idea how it happened tbh, never seen it on a bike before.

    Do you have linked brakes on your bike? Good few beemers have it

    Here's a little price camparison on the disc;

    Cost from Joe Duffy, BMW N2 was €237 plus VAT.. Cost from Hong Kong via Ebay is €50 delivered.

    I'll check Global in Santry when she's open tomorrow, but damn thats some cash saved!.

    When I had my beemer Joe Duffy were looking for €90 each for a set of pads. 3 sets needed. Can't remember how much I paid online, about €80 for the lot.

    A set of handlebar grips was the best. They wanted €270 for them! They insisted the heating elements were built in and the entire wiring loom for them was connected directly into that, so that was one part that had to be replaced. They said it was a big enough job replacing them for the wiring, and were charging €130 an hour! So assuming a "big enough job" was 2 hours, that would have cost €530 for a pair of grips! So got a nice set for about €6 and fitted them myself, took 20 minutes.
    The scary thing is, some people pay these prices.

    Thank god I do all the work myself but there are people out there that wouldn't be that handy and would have to pay someone to do it for them

    Do I my own work, but fabricating a disc is beyond my abilities :o

    But yes I get what you're saying, some poor sod's would have no choice but to go to a main dealer and get arse raped.

    Had a busy day with the bike today. Started with whipping off the fairings and changing the oil & filters.

    Next up was some protection for the months ahead so applied ACF50. I recommend anyone using this to apply with a cloth! I sprayed it at first, a small bit certainly goes a long way!

    Next was the fun bit, install of a Yoshi R55 slip on. It sounds fantastic, and of course I left the baffle out :cool:

    Then with the fairings all back on, i took out the clay bar and gave them a going over. Then sealed all plastics and then stuck on a coat of wax.

    The finished result ....

    I fitted an inline fuel filter. I ran the bike for 10 mins and still didnt notice any fuel pass through. There seems to be a vapor inside alright, is this normal?

    I also bought new over braided fuel line as the ends of the original was cracking. Think it worked out at £10 for 3 foot of it incl del

    Your fuel filter needs to go in between your fuel tap (nozzle on the bottom of your fuel tank) and fuel pump... or if it's gavity fed (no fuel pump) then between the tap and your carb's.

    :oDont tell me that. The are 2 hoses coming from the tank petcock. A larger one near the bottom and a smaller one i fitted the inline fuel filter onto. Think I better dig out the parts manual:eek:
