I have driven past the bloke and I have sent him a few texts but its taking the piss at this stage. How much did it cost you to get the letter signed by a solicitor?

Only cost me €10 to have it signed. She was telling me she gets more business signing those forms than nearly anything else!
The garage were happy to just confirm my chassis number, stamp and send me on my way.

I was trying to chase the lad about my car for months, some people just love to be awkward I think.

    They're recruiting atm.

You start off doing 30hrs / wk Thurs - Sun evening shifts, I.e. the shifts nobody wants for the first six months. Gets easier after that and full time hours. Start on €17 / hr I think.

Lad I work with is going for it too.

Tbh i have two applications in with two tour operators in the uk for European coach driver. .. would rather do that and see about 18 different countries rather than dublin, only i know dublin bus would be very secure and a guaranteed job !

But sure we see how she goes !

17 an hour? Didn't think it was that high. If you were a truck driver it could be something to look at, some of them seem to be on very crap wages. I'd say there'd be plenty of overtime as well in there?

Good benefits, pension, vhi probably and good job security.

Got a good quote on the Yaris that includes Driving Other cars so I'll be finally moving ahead on my E39 search. Going to the CU tomorrow about a small loan and hopefully the new car will be around soon :)

Time to make a buying thread :pac:

I got caught up watching that. And was really disapointed when it cut off.

That doesn't mean driving other cars you own. Maybe you knew that and I picked you up wrong.

Yeah, it'll be going into the dads name and then I'm going to fully transfer in February/March when the sister takes the Yaris.

Well, operation "moving out" was pure success. I am tired, but I am sorted.

On motoring topic: I think I got middle life crisis, but instead of an convertible, I want a big ask estate! :D
I really liking Mercs E class estates, specially older ones. Volvo V70 with full leather sounds something I would love too.
I checked a few clk and those just went to stupid low prices. Why on earth is that? Or people mark them as too dare to tax? I would love clk again!

Anyone used Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance here? How are they for wear? Managed to do this to a back tyre yesterday and may as well get two in the morning.

Wheels goosed too so needed that like a kick in the nads.

How the hell did you do that?! I never sow tyre to go cracking like that.

Haven't a clue what happened it. Thought I'd heard something a quarter of a mile back but went back to look and the road was clean. Front wheel escaped it whatever it was.

82 year old neighbour passed his theory test this evening. 38 out of 40. The man was over the moon, nearly reduced to tears. The independence means so much to him. Onwards and upwards :)

Probably does, but he has decades of driving experience behind him, just let things lapse unfortunately.

In which case you'd think he'd be able to pass the feckin theory test. If a 16/17 year old can pass it with no experiance, then someone with lifetime experience should be able to.

Also shadowheart, what about an 850R?

I have 2 on my 159, dry grip is a bit strange I don't know how to explain it they never let go but feel sort of 'floaty' wet grip is excellent. They are also wearing very well.

Now here is the best bit, while they were on the front I was getting 100km extra out of a tank of fuel! I know a couple of other people that have them and they have reported similar fuel savings.

I would have bought another 2 to replace my ****e Hankooks but none of my tyre guy's suppliers had them. Ended up getting bridgestones instead.

Btw the 2 I have were supplied by G Dalton at a very reasonable price ;)

Saw that efficiency rating and never paid it any heed, it's the noise levels that are appealing as the contis are terribly noisy. Good they're wearing well, probably go with them so.

Inside the wheel is where the worst of the damage is. New one ordered anyway:(

Congrats on the move ShadowHearth! I got the 2.5 Turbo petrol V70. Same engine as the Ford focus ST (with less compression!). About 13k cheaper than the diesel version!! Did the math and it's cheaper for the amount of years I will have it. Lots of thump, handles surprisingly well, stealth mode on the motorway, wife loves it, we holiday around Ireland with lots of gear (surf, kitesurf, kids, dog, bikes etc...) We cycle or use our old city car for commutes. The comfort is second to none and we can pitch a tent. If the weather is brutal we all fit in the back in sleeping bags!

Lots of clever stuff in the car; emergency strobe brake lights, a clip to hold your parking disc/ticket on the windscreen, key blades that pop out of your key fob with a delayed locking mechanism so you can throw your fob back in to the car and head off mountain biking in the rain, pneumatic dog guard, or collapsible net to separate the boot area from the cabin, both can be mounted behind the driver and front passenger seats to make it (basically a luxury van), aero roof bars that don't really affect fuel efficiency, first aid kit and extras in the hidden boot compartment and a sheetload of safety features...

We looked at the XC70, but the motor tax was almost the same, it's heavier on fuel and slower.

Subaru Impreza WRX is ugly, but cool in a weird way (and quick quick quick!) Certainly the ultimate modern all round police car.
