Wheeler Dealers is back tonight for those who missed all the ads for it like me!

I watched a few episodes at friends house while having a few drinks last week. The more I watch it, the more annoying it is.
I know it is fake and all, but it is annoying to see them spending 200£ on polishing one trim part, then not include 15 items in final cost and then sell a car for profit...

Congrats on the move ShadowHearth! I got the 2.5 Turbo petrol V70. Same engine as the Ford focus ST (with less compression!). About 13k cheaper than the diesel version!! Did the math and it's cheaper for the amount of years I will have it. Lots of thump, handles surprisingly well, stealth mode on the motorway, wife loves it, we holiday around Ireland with lots of gear (surf, kitesurf, kids, dog, bikes etc...) We cycle or use our old city car for commutes. The comfort is second to none and we can pitch a tent. If the weather is brutal we all fit in the back in sleeping bags!

Lots of clever stuff in the car; emergency strobe brake lights, a clip to hold your parking disc/ticket on the windscreen, key blades that pop out of your key fob with a delayed locking mechanism so you can throw your fob back in to the car and head off mountain biking in the rain, pneumatic dog guard, or collapsible net to separate the boot area from the cabin, both can be mounted behind the driver and front passenger seats to make it (basically a luxury van), aero roof bars that don't really affect fuel efficiency, first aid kit and extras in the hidden boot compartment and a sheetload of safety features...

We looked at the XC70, but the motor tax was almost the same, it's heavier on fuel and slower.

Subaru Impreza WRX is ugly, but cool in a weird way (and quick quick quick!) Certainly the ultimate modern all round police car.

Ironically I don't have anything that would make me get estate. I just like the esthetics of them. Plus extra space is always handy.

WRX estates look class up to hawkeye models. I don't like those at all. Classics, bugeyes and blobeyes look very cool and unique in estate shape.

They were ventus primes I think, didn't last pissing time and wet grip wasn't great (I also had a sidewall puncture on one and a blowout on the other)

Having said that, I know people who swear by them.
Let me know how u get on.

Same here! I think BMW make awful looking saloons, but the estate versions are cool. They all seem to age better too (no matter who makes them). I was dying for an excuse to get an estate. Wife was horrified at getting a "hearse" but she's converted now.

I think Volvo entered the 850T in the touring car scene got me hooked.

I guess! As they get older, rarer they will be more unique. When I said they were ugly, I meant it, but I still like them.

Saw that efficiency rating and never paid it any heed, it's the noise levels that are appealing as the contis are terribly noisy. Good they're wearing well, probably go with them so.
    (

They are quieter than the bridgestones and the hankooks. ( tyre noise is quite bad in a 159)
I had a set of semperit something or others which were very quiet, but they weren't great for grip.

I think they're around the same price as Bridgestone but they're a lot quieter with way better over all grip but especially wet grip. I doubt I'll ever buy another brand again.

A lot quieter has me sold already. I know your car is a lot faster than mine but If they have better grip than bridgestones, they must be made of glue:P

I had Bridgestone RE040 RFT's on mine when I got it and I despised them. Yes, they were RFT's but the Goodyears are basically the best tyre I've ever had on a car followed by Kumho Ecsta SPT's which I had on the MPS. They also have excellent grip and are priced well.

Oh yeah! I never thought about different sizes costing more or less. 205/45/16 which is my cars tyre size.

Hope you like changing them often. 9,000km on the last set and they were border line legal.

No good then, scratchy is very fond of front tires:mad:
I'm hoping my poly bushes might help that.

Another +1 for Goodyear F1's they are on another level in terms of grip but will only last 9 months to a year.

Today I drove the Pacific Coast Highway from San Francisco to Los Angeles, taking in Big Sur along the way. One of the best drives I've ever done, just stunning, would recommend it to anyone to add to their bucket list. Saw amazing scenery, loads of elephant seals, and even saw a group of five whales feeding and breaching along the coast.

Total distance covered was around 750km, left the garage in SF at 0955 and arrived in LA at 2130.

Savage drive, especially the twisties between Carmel and Big Sur.

You weren't exactly taking it handy Donal. I did it over two days and it still felt a bit rushed.
