The person who released the photos has been found.

Some gobshíte called "Laura Mendez ‏@ISTANDWITHJLAW" set up a Twitter for the sole purpose of this (at least thats what it looks like).

From what I understand, if you have it, iCloud automatically backups your pics even after you delete them, unless you go to Settings and ask it not to.

Thats a dangerous "standard" setting to say the least.

A bit like how easy it was for the News Of The World to hack into people's phones because the users never changed their voicemail from the one that every phone network uses (until you change it yourself).

I think this is only the beginning of "Cloud Leaks" and the end of how much trust people have in cloud storage . We're not just talking bold pics either, expect government documents and more to surface this way.

It may not even have been that. There's reports now that they believe it was simply a program that cycled through the most common passwords.

I think Facebook does something like this too. They keep pictures for up to 3 years, you can delete a picture but if someone types in the exact url they can see it. Never tested it to check.

Bryan Hamade. It's all over twitter.

By the sounds of it he tried to make a few quid pretending to have more for sale. I doubt the hacker would be that stupid

You used to be able to view private photos through the full url too

This guy is linked to a reddit user who apparently was first to post the pics. He used the same username on another site which his real name is connected to.

Also in a censored screen-cap that he posted showing a folder containing more unreleased pics, he neglected to censor out his home network which identified him and a few people he works with. Add to it that his linkedin says he has a lot of experience as a server admin, this could have possibly given him access to the servers that the pics were stolen from.

It's fairly convincing, although him forgetting to block out his network in the screen cap was one hell of an oversight

I guess it's true what they say about fapping too much.

It appears to be Hamade, although it's hard to prove because everything is getting taken down. He's fcuked. I wonder if he's still in the US.

I can't link to the "proof" because it's slightly NSFW but the leaker posted a screenshot of his computer showing the files waiting to be released, without obscuring the sidebar of other unrelated drive names. An old reddit post of Hamade's with a screenshot has the same drive names and he's a sysadmin so it's not a huge stretch.

That's a pretty idiotic way of getting caught.

But I guess if he didn't want his screenshots getting him in trouble and a complete loss of privacy and freedom, he shouldn't have posted them online. Right, guys? Hurr hurr.

That's something I could never get my head around with regards to brute forcing. You also need the Login ID.

Jessica Brown Findlay seems to have taken some of the worst of it, given the content of the videos released.

I remember reading an article where she said she regretted a topless scene in the film 'Albatross' too.

Something is not adding up about that at all. Anyone who put this kind of planning into something isnt that stupid.

For something where you don't have the login id's it would be next to impossible to brute force both the login id and the password. You can log into an Apple account using an email address or an Apple ID tho, so all it would take is finding the person in questions personal email address. People often aren't very careful with their email addresses, but at the same time this guy would have had to find a lot of them so I'm fairly skeptical this was a brute force attack.

Yea agreed. Reports coming out now that these pics have been circulating on the deep web since last week. Seems there is more to this.

I love how the news is blaming Apple iCloud. You can't even upload videos to the back up.

F*cking Reddit. Everytime I'm on that site they seem to be freaking out over the NSA and the government spying on them. They are all over this though. Hypocritical f*cks.

Another rumour going around is that the AppleId's were obtained at the Emmy's on their wifi network

Using these they could use a brute force on that users' iCloud account.

What are the chances that all these female celebrities would have nude photos stored. I wouldn't have thought many people do that.

Anyways, I think the whole thing is disgusting. These poor women have been humiliated by a hacker who in my book is a vile individual.

They thought they were deleted though, at least in some cases. I'd say there are plenty of us that have taken photos we wouldn't want the wider world to see

It's a return to water-colours and wax sealed scrolls lads.

I knew this internet thing wouldn't last.

    Bye.

I guess they're in jobs that mean they're almost constantly travelling and as a result, they don't get to see their partners as often as "normal" people.

Naked pics could be a way to try and keep up some kind of intimacy.

This has made me realise how out-of-date my cultural references have become, because I haven't got a clue who any of these people are.

McKayla Maroney's photos are reportedly proven fakes. (Olympic gymnast). If they ARE real then Hamade is in much worse trouble since they were taken when she was 17.

    True. Good point.
But lets all be honest. Who here hasn't sent a nude picture? :P
These women may be rich and famous. But thats the only seperating factors from everyone else. Perfectly normal to send your boyfriend, girlfriend, etc dirty pictures of yourself :pac:

But I would have thought that if you are famous you are very cautious about what you do.
