Whatever about getting to see a whole load of celebrities naked, its fairly worrying that there's been such a large data breach. Goes to show that nothings safe on the internet, even private pictures that had been thought deleted

OK, the original thread was closed due to the amount of links posted. As per the charter, links to pornographic images are not allowed. Apologies for not putting a closing post at the end

There is no such thing as 100% safe on the internet... someone will always find a hole to exploit if determined.

hilarious that after the leaks 4chan went and created #leakforjlaw on twitter for girls to show 'solidarity' and publish their own nude pics and a load of people fell for it :D

There's already a thread discussing the fallout here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=92006526#post92006526

Why would you store sensitive material on a piece of hardware that you cannot physically access when ever you want to? I understand that the companies that maintain the banks of memory (cloud) have security systems but there are people out there who live and breath to break these systems.

And this thread will get locked.
Why tho? Like ok, I get it on one hand. Boards.ie wants to cover themselves. But as long as no one posts pictures what's the problem.

This thread probably won't last pissing time either.
John Charles McQuaid wouldn't have shut this sh1t down quicker than Boards.

You don't really understand cloud storage do you? You can access it from anywhere. It's basically just like gmail/hotmail etc, except instead of emails it's documents etc. You can log in from anywhere with your username and password!

Someone hacked a load of celeb accounts, it happens all the time. You just need to have better security and FFS DON'T USE PUBLIC WIFI.

That's all the mods post on their private forum. If you post without a nudie pic, you get demodded instantly.

No wonder that Irish guy in Downton was so sad when his wife died.

Getting demodded sounds a bit kinky. Me like.

I heard one guy actually fapped himself into such a befuddlement, that he somehow ended up taking a piss in his son's bedroom.

But seriously, the picture of Victoria Justice wearing the Marvel T Shirt showing off her vagina is the hottest thing I have ever seen.

Yeah, it's a shame that her photos are the fake ones -

The Lawrence / Upton / Dunst shots and most of the others are the real deal though.

I understand it well enough. What I'm saying is that you cannot access the physical hardware. You don't know what backup systems they have in place. You upload 1 file and the system could automatically archive a copy somewhere. The point is you just don't know and once its out, its out. What does the fine print on cloud data storage read? Bad/different example: didn't bebo sell (or try to) off people's user info years ago. I bet when people uploaded photo's when it was popular they didn't realize there was a fine print. Anyway, personally I believe if the info is that sensitive you should not store it on any device that you cannot physically pick up.

The amount of people stupid enough to put their faith in this cloud BS is worrying. If you want to back up sensitive date, put it on an encrypted HD. Not some hackable cloud joke.

This is my personal favourite of the leaks.

Except they're real. She just said they were fake and they've been proven to be her.

Would you recommend saving to physical drives that when stolen can never be recovered?

It's a little hard to take her "They're fake" seriously when the others all appear to be real... I'm sure some neck-beard will be along shortly to analyze the pixelation of the image and "verify" it's authenticity

Am I right in guessing this is going to boil down to people not knowing about Apples backup features and leaving default passwords set on their accounts? i.e. a social media version of the voicemail "hacking"...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,318 ✭✭✭✭Menas

The only way to avoid pics like these getting in to the public domain is not to take them in the first place.

I wonder if this is linked to what Snowden said about the NSA having access to lot of personal celeb pictures. The person who published the pics said he is not a hacker, but a collector.

The pics are all over the internet now, mirrored and squirrelled away in every dark recess of the web. I really do feel sorry for those whose pics have been published so far, and those that will get published later.
Lots of lawyers will earn a bucket from this. PR men will be losing hair over this...and Apple will be sh1ting themselves.

Somebody already has, they analysed actual pictures she posted before and compared the background and clothes and what not, even down to the lightswitch

It's a little more than that. iCloud uses your Apple ID and password. There is no default password. I'm guessing it's as a result of using public WIFI that tracks and records passwords.
