Excellent listen! The quote at the end summed him up to a tee: "I unfortunately have given my life to Shelbourne Football Club, some people might say it is my life".

    Saying nothing.

I'm guessing it means we need more people with the heart of Ollie but a bit more a of head unlike Kelleher and past versions of him! End of the day we're suffering for it and always will be, we could have done the Rovers/Cork/Derry route and went down the Administration/Examinership route!

The speculation as to why Shels did or didn't opt for that route have been done to death here, plus I'm - and I'm sure most people - not that bothered.

Nor am I interested in getting into a row about somebody that's passed away and held dear but those cute hoor articles (he did X, Y, Z but sure he was a character) are just rosy hindsight and very Irish. You got a good few years out of it but now you're yo-yoing between the divisions as a result.

Us 3 years ago excluded, the league might not be achieving what it did in the money splashing days but a lot of clubs are relatively more stable now. I'll take that over somebody cracking the CL group stages.

It's all down to Tolka but sure you probably already know!

Ollie had a plan, a ridiculous plan as we all found out but it was the determination, etc... most people look at. As I posted above the quote at the end of the Newstalk documentary summed him up to a tee: "I unfortunately have given my life to Shelbourne Football Club, some people might say it is my life". I still remember his removal and how Shelbourne orientated it was.

In all fairness the League is in half a good state, it's only a matter of time before the sh1t hits the fan at Pats (how long can Kelleher prop their finances with their abysmal attendances), if Longford do a bottle job they're f*cked, I'd be shocked if Cobh are in the League next season, Athlone could be screwed, and God knows what else.

Can't speak for the rest of the clubs you mentioned but I know for a fact we(longford) are very stable, all our debts paid off,own our ground, currently building a new pitch behind the wall for underage etc

    Pitchgate update:
    CLUB STATEMENT
Bohemian FC is pleased to confirm that an expert inspection of the pitch at Dalymount Park has assessed it as playable and presenting no safety hazard to players.
The inspection took place on Tuesday 19 August, the day after the referee cancelled a match between Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers on the grounds that the pitch was unsafe for players. The report received today presents expert opinion that the pitch was safe.
A small repaired area behind one penalty spot had been identified by the referee as a particular issue. Agricultural scientist Pat Supple reported to Bohemian FC “that the area in question did not constitute a hazard of such seriousness that it would cause serious injury to players”.
He concluded: “It is my opinion that the pitch was playable and that it did not constitute a safety hazard to players”.
This report also concluded that there may have been “a breakdown in communication between the referee and the groundsman through no fault on either side”, when they spoke on Monday evening before the referee made his decision.
A consultant preparing a further report for the Football Association of Ireland has indicated to club officials that he did not consider the pitch unsafe.

    Pitchgate update:

A breakdown of communication has to be someones fault. That line reads like a cop out to be honest. Don't want to blame the ref but don't want to admit any mishandling either.

We'd likely get fined if we so much as hinted at it to be fair.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Good sideline for agricultural scientists. I wonder could sports experts therefore make a few quid advising farmers on crops and the like

Any idea the wages? Few hundred at the last two home games according to Foot.ie. Surely they've pushed the boat out for Cousins for one last chance to get yous up?

So the bohs appointed(?) agricultural scientist finds in favour of Bohs?

The only opinion that really matters is the referee.

I think if the FAI were to look into issuing a fine (which Gavin said they weren't looking at), then an independent appraisal of the pitch and its match-worthiness could be relevant to any dispute of such a fine. That said, it's very unlikely to come to that.

I wouldn't know specifics on wages just know that they are not extravagant in any way, few hundred at most, rice might be an exception but the chairman is a very successful business man in his own personal life and the club as a whole is in a far better state than when he took over. He wouldn't be one to spend what we don't have, which might be a problem if hopefully we do get promoted!but what a nice problem that will be to have!

Last paragraph says a consultant preparing a report for the FAI indicated it was ok as well

I'd be amazed if a fine is issued by the FAI.

Might be of interest to some here

Offer accepted by CCFC for Brian Lenihan. Don't know from who though.

Had hoped to get the rest of the season from him but not surprised either. The kid is a real talent and I wish him all the best whoever he goes to.

Ya, a middling Championship team would be about right to start with. Some of our more vociferous dribblers think he would slot straight into the Premiership and we should be DEMANDING €1m+ for him, but thats not living in the real world.

Apparently its in the region of 200k + add-ons.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,115 ✭✭✭kksaints

What will Cork get for him? Around €250k and a few add ons?

Yeah, I think Enda Stevens could have eventually done a lot better in England if he wasn't dumped right in with a struggling EPL side and had found his feet at a lower level first.

The Bohs "party people" - are they troublemakers or are they just a gang of flag and banner makers?

They down in Cork already? They're the ultras and not the hooligans anyway if you're talking about the NBB

After the game a few weeks ago I wouldn't be surprised if theres trouble tonight, and thats not putting the blame on anyone, both Bohs and Corks 'mobs' went at each other that night.
