Kinda worried about him myself with their opening fixtures but my hope was that he'd save more than he conceded and pick me up a few points that way. Also considered Krul for the same value but he has huge ownership and if a few drop him after the first couple of weeks his value will drop.

That's crazy thinking imo.
There's a reason why Krul at 4.5 has high ownership compared to Schmeichel.
It'll take ~10% of owners to transfer Krul out for him to drop... The same for Schmeichel.

Have ye lads checked out their fixtures? Apart from a brief reprieve in gw6/7, their fixtures aren't exactly kind in terms of clean sheet potential. i'd be looking at considering them for gw16!

Not getting the Lovren love at all. At that price there are plenty of options that can get the odd goal, assist and even clean sheets. Liverpool have a lot of new faces at the back. I'd wait and see how they manage the difficult early fixtures. They certainly weren't great last year and that's all we can go on for now.

Also putting Ashley Young in seems very optimistic. He performed well in pre-season but they were high scoring exhibition games. Far from the real thing. On top of that the wing backs in LVG's system in the WC didn't contribute much in the way of goals or assists so the potential there is limited.

I had Mannone in for Eliot but apart from week 1 I wouldn't really play him until Week 10. So I've gone bare minimum budget there. It freed up a valuable 0.5 for midfield.
Chambers is a short term punt that could add value. Bruce looks the best of the £4M options fixtures wise but his place is far from secure. Hopefully I won't need him anyway.
The extra 0.5 I saved on Eliot allowed me to take a punt on Hoilett as my cheapie in Mid. He plays as a no. 10 and has been very impressive any time I've seen him and is very highly rated.
My main gamble is on Dzeko up front but I think he will play every game but perhaps not the full 90 minutes. He'll get goals though.

I've no Arsenal attacking players but can't see where to squeeze them in. I'll watch their opening fixtures and react if I need to. I've gone with mostly proven players. No need to take a risk on an unknown quantity at this early stage.

Can anyone see any glaring weaknesses or areas I could improve further?

This is my team for the start of the Premier League Fantasy Football League. I join a few friendly leagues and a VERY competitive league with my friends each year. I have also joined the Boards league.
I think I am very (very) over-spent on midfield/attack. Who would you drop in order to increase my defense options. I would hope my team value would increase and then I can trade those players and have enough to upgrade defense at a later time.

Incredible Hulk I'd ditch Rosicky, won't start and even if he's on as a sub he rarely get's an assist or goal.

Anyway here's my team for tomorrow, have gone cheap and cheerful at the back, Chambers will be gotten rid of once Mertesecker is fit but at the moment he's a no-brainer imo.

Originally had Sturridge - Costa and a 6m striker up front but I think Costa is a risk as an unknown quantity so I changed to 3 proven though not overly prolific goalscorers:

Any advice for changes welcome, have 1.5m in the bank still.

I'm an Everton fan - apparently Lakaku is a big doubt for tomorrow or at least not match fit. Also Everton have a tough opening 6 games.

Not sure about dzeko but wanted some man city cover, may put giroud there instead in light of crystal palace losing their manager. Chambers probably only temp but arsenal have 2 injuries at CB. Think Ireland could be a dark horse as playing behind the striker and seems to have had a good pre season. Dont have alot of money for defence but think I did well as believe they are all starters bar chambers.

If your unsure about a simple swap, you could wait until GW2 or 3 and look at highlights of how Eriksen played, etc. before putting him in.

@Jesper - literally none of the 4mill CB's are certs. Upgrade a couple to 4.5 if you can.

@last poster - Why Ireland? Not assured to start. You could downgrade to a 4.5 or around the ball park of 5.5 with him.
