Everyone has their guilty pleasures and Hook was of mine. I know people think it's terrible, but I grew up with it. I loved thar film!

RIP to a truly unique man that can never be replaced.

Good Morning Vietnam was a personal favorite. I felt it was him at his very best.

It's sad in itself that he's gone, but even sadder the way what he went. To commit suicide after suffering from depression is a shocking way to go after giving many people so many laughs and happiness.

RIP Robin Williams, you were one of the good ones...

So so sad about this. I keep welling up and I'm not that kind of person at all.
Absolutely loved him as an actor and thought his stand-up was just brilliant.
    RIP. He'll be so missed.

Absolutely so sad about this. He was a BRILLIANT actor - every movie that I saw him in I enjoyed. R.I.P Mr Williiams, you will be missed.

Misfortunate man. Rest in peace Robin, nanu-nanu.

I think he was part of everyone's childhood. Patch Adams was a favorite of mine as a child and Good Morning Vietnam as an adult. A unique talent.

    RIP Mr Williams

Some deaths really shock one..... and when I just opened internet this minute I saw that Robin had died and literally cried out OH NO! I cannot believe it. From Mork and Mindy (my first crush was Robin) to the comedies but also the dramas...my GOD! what a talent. What Dreams May Come. Patch Adams. The Fisher King. All for different reasons have stuck in my mind.
A great artist, and a good human being.

He really was. In more serious roles like Awakenings or One Hour Photo, he really showed there was more to him than comedy.

    I'm so utterly sad today.

very sad news, just goes to show you how awful depression can be.
A genius of a man, if you've never heard his stand up stuff then do yourself a favour and check it out.

so often we hear of a famous persons death and we pause think about it and how tragic it is and how great they were, and then its forgotten, but this death is different its like loosing someone you know, a kind distant uncle who you only saw once a year, rest in peace Robin.

Normally when some famous celebrity dies, I might be interested for a brief moment and then move on to the next article in the newspaper.
But this morning I am really saddened by the death of Robin Wliiams. He was such a vulnerable actor, you could feel the sadness behind the laughter. He was an authentic person.
I loved the Dead Poets Society - I was one of those schoolboys who wanted to suck the marrow out of life (and never really made it). He was brilliant in Mrs Doubtfire - made me understand the pain of separated Dads. I also loved Good Will Hunting, Awakenings, One Hour Photo, the Fisher King and Moscow on the Hudson. Feels part of my life really.
I didn't like his standup - always looked like he was trying too hard and it didn't feel like he was being true to himself.
By all accounts a lovely, sweet man. So sad that he couldn't make it. Some are not made for this world. RIP Robin - Nanu Nanu.

Tragic alright, but if any one posts that yesterday was the day the laughter died, I'm closing my account.

This times a million.I'm genuinely gutted by this.what a lovely, lovely man he seemed to be.he was a great dad and very kind to his ex wife as she was dying of cancer.it'll be awhile before I can watch any of his films again.you get a feeling for how he was as a real person watching them.

Sad news, but not a great actor imo and his stand-up stopped being funny a few decades ago.

Propensity for all his roles to descend into mawkish sentimentality.

Absolutely awful news to wake up to. A big part of my childhood is darker now. RIP, Robin. Thank you for the memories.

I always loved him in Awakenings. Again, not normally a poster in these threads but when I was snoozing and the news came on the radio I jumped with the shock. And was just so saddened to hear suicide. He was a part of our childhood for many of us, hopefully he's at peace now.

Couldn't believe I woke up to this today. It is weird, like so many of you I will say RIP when a celebrity passes but not feel anything. I feel this. Robin Williams was a voice and a face I grew up with. The world is a darker place without him, but his legacy will live on.

He was a huge talent who will be much missed. I was more a fan of his serious work, One Hour Photo will remain one of the creepiest films I ever saw for his performance alone, Awakenings is an amazing movie, Dead Poets Society...and that's before you even touch his comic roles...what a loss :( RIP.
