My current selection leaves me with a glorious 1mil in the bank and i'm not sure what to do with it at all! Perhaps i'll just swim in a bath of cash until after GW1 and see what i want to do with it then! Feeling somewhat worried that i'm not pumping the full £100mil into my squad but i'm quite happy with the team now :)

*Insert template FSA team here* + Sturridge (who not many around here seem to be going for)

I see very few people have Aguero, is he not fit enough yet or not likely to start. I have him along with Rooney and Nugent. i had Rooney and Sturridge but changed. Is Sturridge or Aguero the better option?

he has been injury plagued, bit of a gamble as to how long he stays fit

Highly unlikely Aguero is going to be fit for the start of the season

I think Hoilett is one of the best candidates for a 5th mid, who would be your alternative?

Someone for £4.5m - I explained my thinking in the other thread dedicated to £4.5m midfielders. That extra £0.5m is much more valuable elsewhere imo. As for Hoilett, hes a better choice than Matic but thats not saying a lot. Personally I wouldn't even consider them, you can get more points per million spent elsewhere in your team.

I had to bring dzeko into my team the lack of city cover was to be honest scaring me. Also kind of worried about having no liverpool players in my line up , its either couthino or eriksen and at the moment I haven't decided who to go with.

Sturridge is just way too expensive and weakens my midfield and defense trying to fit him in.

Ugh, I feel like Studge will get at least a goal against Southampton, but I will probably go Costa and use the 1m elsewhere. Main reason being that unless Studge gets a hattrick all of the casuals will transfer him out before Man City A and he'll lose value.

Sturridge needs to score double digits against Southampton to justify having him in GW1. With them selling half their team over the summer this is definitely possible.

I agree he is expensive but i've managed to get a team i'm happy overall with and still have £1mil in the bank, its having money left over that concerns me though!

I can definitely see goals in this game, big holes in Southampton's defence now not to mention on the rest of the pitch.

How do you figure this? I'd happily take a guaranteed 1 goal from him right now before the games kick off and he will have done a job for the week! Can easily transfer him out for pretty much anyone the following week if needed but can see him creeping one in against City too being that he is going to be the lone striker now and should pretty much be involved in most attacking chances.

Would anybody go for Lukaku at 9.0?

I've Lukaku in there. I'm hoping he'll go all out to prove Mourinho wrong in the first few games.

He isn't fit and likely to miss first game and eased into second game I reckon, not really an early selection for me.

Thanks for the heads up. Didn't realise he wasn't fit for this weekend. Now I've to go mess around with my team....again frown.png

I will figure out a way to accommodate the "3 Pronged Attack of Destruction" (Rooney, Costa, Studge) and it will be glorious! :D

Ok so now I'm very much toying with this....

    2cy1nr6.jpg

The forward line is utterly glorious and I don't think the defence suffers an awful lot, just no Chelsea coverage.

Instead of having 3 heavy hitting mids and Siggy, I have 2 and more importantly the 3 best options up front. If one of the front 3 isn't working out then I can easily downgrade and bring in a mid.

QPR and Chelsea rotate so Hoilett and Matic could play every 2nd week or whoever the best fit is. I'm still trying to see if there's a better combo of those 3 mids but for now that's where I'm at.

If you go DDG 4.0 gk and Dunne over your 2 gks and evans you will have an extra 1.0 for your midfield with much the same coverage. If hoillett keeps his place he will be a great option. Im considering the 3 big guns up front option also.

    Draft #1.

    318014.png

I'd like some United defensive cover in De Gea but that will probably be at the expense of Bony. I just realised I have three Swansea players. That will have to change. Damn.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Which one of these two options would you be inclined to go with?

    Chambers, Sigurdsson, Sturridge

    or

    Debuchy, Erikson, 8.5 mil striker

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 320 ✭✭AlanDeGenerous

The latter. Surely Chambers won't be starting ahead of Mertesacker and Koscielny.

He'll be starting for the first week ahead of Mert.

    Cheers mate.

Regarding your team, I think you might have more success going with Taylor over O'Shea for the first part of the season given the fixtures and how well he rotates with Stoke. The home games they offer are superb.

The thing is I really rate Sunderland under Poyet. He did a superb job last year. I'm a big fan of Pulis as a manager and he did a great job but Poyet's was even better. Di Canio had left Sunderland in a terrible shambles.

That's why I am willing to go with a Sunderland defender over Taylor I think. Will have a look at the fixtures and see though.

    Henderson vs Siggy?

Assuming Siggy does end up on the wings, who would you choose? Looking at Henderson myself as I've no Liverpool coverage at all.

Oh I know it is, but sometimes it's interesting to pick apart the template that forms in here.

I disagree on Hoilett though, less than I would have before the weekend though due to Mutch signing. Himself and Austin have been linking up very well in pre-season playing just behind him, centrally. If Austin is a "good" 3rd forward option then Hoillet is a "good" 4th mid option at 5.0.

Matic highlights the sacrifice I'd be making though.

As a Blackburn fan I know more about Hoilett than most. He's a quality player and big things were expected of him. Three seasons ago he got 7 goals in 34 games in a struggling Blackburn team.

He even got singled out on MoTD a few times that season for how well he was playing. He also got 5 goals in 24 games the year before.

12 goals in 58 games over two seasons is a decent return from a 5 mil mid for me.

I thought about him but haven't gone with him because I'm not sure how Redknapp has been utilising him.

    Latest Draft

    De Gea £5.5 / Myhill £4.0

    Clyne £5.0 / Ferdinand £4.5 / Cameron £4.5 / Chambers £4.5 / Jagielka £5.5

    Ramsey £9.0 / Fábregas £9.0 / Mata £9.0 / Eriksen £8.0 / El Ahmadi £4.5

    Rooney £10.5 / Diego Costa £10.5 / Jelavic £6.0

I will be playing De Gea all season unless MU defence is poor
Chambers is a bit of a gamble but I strongly believe he will get game time .
Not so confident with El Ahmadi ( suggestions )
    Its either Jelavic or Long

Would like some feed back with player suggestions if poss .

    Solid Team,

I worry about the De Gea non playing back up. If you could find the extra .5 for Krul you would have more peace of mind. Maybe Jelavic for Bojan who has cracking fixtures and form

Sorry to butt in here - But I had Krul and dropped him. There is very very few occasions where I can see myself choosing Krul over DeGea over the course of the season.

Probably an easy one but interested in thoughts:

    1) Evans - Henderson - Bojan

    or

    2) Chambers - Albrighton - Jovetic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,700 ✭✭✭Danger781

    Definitely option one for me

    Same strikeforce as me ;)

Think you'd be better going Nasri to Sterling and Henderson to Sigurdsson

I think Naughton is a better punt at 4.5m than Chambers. Rumors that Koscielny might miss Palace and with Per already out, I wouldn't say we're guaranteed to keep a cleanie.

Also, Rooney is running away with the captaincy poll on FFS currently so Giroud(c) is a bit of a risk
