Good showing from Westwood, really would like him to be in the final pairing on the last day.

At the risk of adding to the Rory-fest, McIlroy looks very relaxed in his interview.
Love the "doesn't get better than that...".
    Cocky so and so. :D
    He'll be hard to beat.

I think he was allowed to be cocky looking at that stat...

    Driving average - 327 yards
    Driving accuracy - 85.7%

    Stunningly good.

For Rory not to win this he'll have to have a bad round and a half. He can drop a shot but he's usually the type of guy who responds with 4 birdies on the bounce.

    Very well played!

Good showing from Westwood, really would like him to be in the final pairing on the last day.

Westwood's only chance of winning a major is shooting a low score early on a sunday before he realises he's in contention and the field fail to reach his target.

I thought he might have drawn from his experience at augusta in 2010 when he lead the open last year, but again of all things his long game let him down.

I know some people don't seem overly fond of him (maybe because of his twitter outbursts) but I actually really like him and would love to see him win one.

The thing with Westwood is that even when he was at his best he never managed to get it done. When he is this out of form (today aside) is he really going to have the confidence and game to keep up with McIlroy and Stenson in particular. I don't see it.

It's an odd looking leaderboard really, of the top 10 you'd really only expect the above as well as Furyk to be in contention come Sunday. Plenty of quality among the -2s and -1s who you would expect to shoot low tomorrow to get into the mix for the weekend.

I see like Donald collapsed again with 5 to play. I m afraid another guy who won't win a major..

Read your post this morning and smiled. Nice bit of prediction there. While I was watching it, I got the impression that Rory just got a bit angry with himself and changed mode from 'out with the lads for a nice round' to 'push it up a gear and start scoring'.

If he can turn it on at will like that, it really doesn't bode well for the rest of the field. Great to watch though; was glued to it.

Bubba was not in good form; hardly ever smiled and had a demeanour that nearly seemed like he'd rather be anywhere else. Stenson is looking strong, but I get the feeling that Westwood might not be able to keep the momentum through the weekend.

Can't give a logical explanation for this opinion but I havea serious dislike for Westwood...

Westwood gets a lot of stick from the British press, so he can be a bit prickly. But he's popular among the other players and that's usually a sign that he's a good guy under it all. He does have a sense of humour which always helps, so no, I don't share your feeling.

On the other hand I'm finding Bubba a real pain in the proverbial.

Felt bad for Jason Dufner. He looks like he's in serious trouble. He was shaking his left hand as if he was losing the feeling in it which is downright worrying. He probably shouldn't have played but being the holder probably felt he had to.

Funny, I have always liked Westwood, but I don't think he is going to win a major now.....and neither is Luke Donald, who I also like.

Rory's form is stunning. It's very hard to see him being beaten here.

    Yes correct , 5 hours

Thought Luke Donald might have been getting back to some form but that finish was a kick in the behind. Disappointing as he's a player I like, I'd be happy to see him win a major but his chances are getting slim as the years pass

I think his score made him look better than he actually played, he made 3 putts that I can remember from outside 30 feet. Maybe 5 years ago he had the game to sneak a major but he has just lost it now, too short off the tee and has now lost his accuracy too.

I don't know about the accuracy, when he hit that tree he called it before it hit ;)

But his distance is hurting him badly. However Valhalla has some holes that don't reward distance and make you play a lower club where there's a split fairway. He didn't really take advantage at those, so the longer holes hurt him. He may have it in him to play a better round today.

Rory on red button at 1.30 for those with sky. Missing tonights action, things shouldn't be planned on major weekends.

    Is this on radio anywhere?
Can't get Sky Go etc, but more than happy with a radio stream.

Must say watching Donald play with Sergio and Fowler at the Open, I was struck by how outclassed he was from tee to green by both of them. His short game is incredible; he might win a major hosted on an extremely difficult US Open type course (a la Merion, where he had a good run), but cant see him doing much this week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,248 ✭✭✭qwabercd

To be fair to Donald though, he is horribly out of form. We've seen the likes of stenson, scott, westwood etc lose it for a few years and get it back.

His main problems are he's not as accurate of the tee and his wedge play is not what it was. But he has shown himself capable of mixing it with the big boys, he was world number one not too long ago after all. Albeit it was probably during a spell when some of the other big players weren't quite on top of their games like they are now.

On a side note, his approach shot that went into the water yesterday made an exceptionally loud splash!

It says "due to rain", on the the PGA website, surely there is electrical activity and not just rain though.

Few people on Twitter saying it should be a restart as only 20 minutes of play happened in horrendous conditions.

Should never have started by sounds of it
