We all know that Rory has a great chance here, but after that final day in the Bridgestone, you have to fancy him for this. He is playing well, and has the nerves for the final day. I'd love to see him do it.

Apparently he went out there straight away and will be playing it all week. He hasn't played the course before from what they were saying. It'd be an amazing achievement if he did win, couldn't back agInst him in this form though.

Gmac has had 4 top tens in a row and given what's at stake in the ryder cup i'd be expecting big things this week from him. Certainly a top 10.

If he did, it would be amazing. Three wins in a row and two of them Majors. Valhalla would be more suited to him than Firestone being a lot more open. He's learning how to compete in these competitions; always keeping in touch with the leaders and taking as many opportunities as possible to make birdie.

Hard to see who else could match him in his current form. Only Garcia has been able to stay close to his pace. However, I'd like to see a good showing from Lowry whose form is on an upward curve also.

Don't forget about my Rickie just yet :)

He's had 3 Top 5 finishes in the Majors so far this year which I think is pretty amazing in itself. He was a bit behind yesterday but still claimed another T10.
As long as it's not a birdie fest, then I'd have Rickie up there alongside Sergio as the main challengers.

The major Apps just keep getting better and better. Something good has come out of Augusta with their penchant for over-embellishing their event.
See Ogilvy qualified last night with his win in the Barracuda.

Can't see how Scott is going to take all this Rorymania lying down. Having lost his world no. 1 status and finished poorly last night, no better boy in the face of adversity. My pick this week flying under the radar.

Yeah, I think Scott has a way of keeping himself in contention no matter what. I just think that he has trouble when he tries to chase and pushes too hard. If he gets out in front, he could well stay there though. Rickie likewise but he just seems to fall at the last hurdle. No more deserving guy though, always seems to be very cool on the course.

With the way Rory and Sergio have been playing in recent weeks I can't see past the pair of them. They seem to be just a bit ahead of everybody else right now, well I suppose Fowler is there too.

I think yesterdays defeat will knock alot out of Sergio to the point that I dont expect him to be a major factor this weekend.

    I think the most amazing part in that article is this;
That year (1963) Nicklaus, using a persimmon driver and wound golf ball, hit a winning drive of 341 yards, 17 inches

Wow!! That's over 50 years ago.

Yes why I put it up.

We don't know conditions. But still impressive.

Bubba is one pain in the arse.

    Padraig legend.

Good chance of making the cut, he's been playing some great golf lately. His putting has been particularly impressive. I'd say the course will be too long for him to be a contender though. Its nice to see the over 50s doing so well these days.

McIlroy in form looks almost unbeatable.
Garcia will never win a Major imo.
After the way Mickelson finished last week, you'd fancy him to play well but I think it all depends on how Rory plays. If he turns up in his recent form, the field are playing for second.

Yeah unfair on the alternate, and if he's as hurt as he made out on Sunday, thee's no way in hell he can play.

He has been playing his practice round today and apparently has showed no sign of any injury worries and is hitting the ball relatively far so I would imagine he will be teeing it up tomorrow. Also... really don't think he was pretending or making his injury out to be worse than it was on Sunday gone.

Well then he deserves an Oscar. He could barely get into his car. A long lens camera captured him struggling to walk up the steps on his jet shortly after. Supposed he was continuing on the show for the pilots.

He wasn't faking an injury... but I guess we shall have to disagree on that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,733 ✭✭✭SnowDrifts

So Tiger has just confirmed he will be playing. I'd imagine a player who gave a sh*t about other players would have gave Mr Huh a call a few days ago to inform him that they would most likely be playing..... I doubt he got that call from Tiger.

What difference would that make Snow? Huh is first alternative regardless not just to Tiger so would be hanging close by regardless I assume.

Because Tiger got an extension on the deadline so basically he had until his tee time to make up his mind. Just thought it might be a little unfair for Huh not knowing until the last minute.

Yeah an injury extension that can be applied by any injured player not just Tiger as seems to be widely reported.

I was just wondering isnt Huh still on standbye in case anyone pulled out today or would they now go with 155 if someone bailed now?

Im sure Huh is professional enough to accept Tiger making a late call. Might not be so pleased of course if he seems him pulling up after a few holes tomorrow.

Hope Tiger isnt too near Padraig on the range tomorrow, might be the odd grimace when he's doin the happy Gilmore!!!

Huh gives a rat's ass about an unknown alternate....

    TIGER'S PLAYIN'

Best news of the week. Makes it worthwhile tuning in tomorrow.

    Biggest draw ever in golf.
The man who spread the word around the world.
    Made golf cool.
    Had kids Just Doin It.
Brought so much money into the tour funds the rest of the pros should be kissing the fairway he walks on.
A coloured man rulz the country club.
Broke so many records its probably a record itself (yes, I know there's one still missing. For the moment...).
Hell, courses had to be TIGERPROOFED. I dont think Nicklausproofed is even a word!!!!
The Tiger Slam - that's FOUR majors in a row !!!!
He won a US open by 15 (yes FIFTEEN, shots) !!!!
That's three capitalised exclamation mark facts in a row !!!!
He slowed down time on the 16th at the Masters so that Nike could get extra publicity from a championship winning super shot - not even Einstein could do that. The boffins at Cern cant even figure out how he did it.
He won the US Open with a broken leg.
Tiger will jump Snead for the highest number of PGA victories ever.

Golf just wont know what's hit it when he is gone.

Be glad he is there. Watch him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,029 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

I reckon Tiger could regret playing in this, particularly if he's constantly hitting out of heavy rough.

I've seen quotes from Graham Delaet saying it took him a full year to fully recover from the same injury as Tiger, so maybe he'd be better off resting up until the end of the year.

I wouldn't question Tiger faking his injuries at all.
What I would question is his recovery time... Remarkable.

He's fine. Wasnt the operated injury. Just another bone in his back. Which his physio popped back in. As you do. Raring to go. Expecting to win.

Was honestly thinking it could be another point.
But all these subsequent injuries tend to be compensation for original.

But any back injury. Hard to believe he is fit.
