    Thoughts?

I tried my hardest to fit Sanchez in there for Ramsey, but just couldn't swing it without making my defence even worse. May try and squeeze another .5 out of somewhere to get De Gea in though.

I'd go speroni to a 4 mil keeper and play krul every week. Apart from the first week Newcastle have great fixtures over the first 8. Then either Shaw to Evans or silva to nasri to give u the money for sanchez.

I can see that everyone is going for a strong midfield this season.

Strange considering it was a no brainer to have 3 top strikers last year.
Suarez going can't have changed things that much.... this from a man that has Zamora in his first draft :o

I'm sticking to the tried and tested 3-4-3. Jelavic being my choice as a cheap striker.

so will mariappa start? going for 3-4-3 myself, assuming that the bonus points aren't as ridiculous as last year

There is no obvious replacement for Suarez this season, and there was none last season, too as he was banned from playing for few weeks iirc.

The recent transfers of midfielders (or FPL midfielders) made it easy to pick the likes of Sanchez/Fabregas instead of the forwards.

Aguero injured, Suarez gone, Costa might be an option but most players prefer not to have Chelsea strikers for many reasons.

I will try to get 1-2 players from newly promoted teams and another 2 from Hull who have relatively easy start of the season after what we can call an amazing display last season.

Me too I always prefer to have 3 attackers and am considering dzeko sturridge rooney as my 3.

These are not cheap options. The only doubt I have is Rooney - I will wait for their first match to see where and how he plays. Dzeko is a bargain of the year.

343 for me too, Rooney dzeko giroud. Bit skimpier in the middle, but still decent enough. I reckon I have my team mostly set in stone, barring any major transfers.

That would be my ideal front line but, unlike you, I feel balance is necessary which is why I want a good backline. For me at least two top defenders is a must.

I would just go with Shaw and Terry but I feel Debuchy will be good value at 5.5. Davies could be too at 5 million but I just haven't room for him.

Team in full, if anyone is interested...
    ----DDG----
    Debuchy-JT-Davies
    Hazard-Mata-Eriksen-Siggurdson
    Rooney Dzeko Giroud

    Subs: Myhill, Wisdom, Albrighton, O'Shea.

Gk: playing DeGea every week, so sub doesn't matter.

Def: Terry + Debuchy + rotate the other 3 based on fixtures. Might swap Davies for Ward, after week 1.

Mid: not convinced on siggy, could stick Kevin Nolan in before gw 1. The other 3 should be in everyone's team, imo.

Fwd: the three best value players this year. Not convinced on Costa, and I can easily downgrade to one of the new boys if they hit the ground running.

No players new to the league, and only 3 at new teams, so should be settled from the start.

    Opinions welcome.

If you can put a team together with that front line that doesn't look desperate elsewhere i'd love to see it!

I have Rooney and Sturridge (plus 6mil option) up front and even at that my defence is suffering!

Aside from the fact that brazilian fart porn 02 is a superior movie, I think that your midfield is too weak. You're going to be heavily reliant on clean sheets (dodgy) or 5.0/6.0 midfielders delivering the goods (also dodgy). Downgrade a Dorrans to a 4.5 and a defender so that Puncheon/Siggurdson can become an Erikssen or better, imo.

Jelavic or Long? Both 6.0, who is more appealing? I prefer Long but I'm open to suggestions...

    Jelavic.

He's in my team now alright but the Irish in me wants Long.

    current team:

    Mannone/Krul

    Luis/Shaw/Davies/Mariappa/Wisdom

    Hazard/Mata/Silva/Eriksen/Albrighton

    Jelavic/Rooney/Dzeko

Not 100% about Eriksen over Sigurdsson.

    A) Evans, Sigurdsson, Giroud

    B) Shaw, Eriksen, Jelavic

    Stressed already...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 475 ✭✭Rosco79

Recut no. 17, not sure whether its improving.....

    Speroni, Green
Evans, F Luis, Davies, Coloccini, Targett
    Fab, Sanchez, Mata, Sig, Albrigton
    Rooney, Dzeko, Remy

Remy in on assumption he pitches up at Newcastle....

    Any opinions?

Not sure that Shaw is a great idea to start with given Van Gaals comments today on fitness also Eriksen seems to be quiet so far in pre season.

Has a few weeks till start of season and he hasn't been injured so I can't imagine he's too badly off. Tempted to go for Evans though as he's 0.5 less but offers no attacking thread really. Eriksen is on set-pieces, can't see much better value than him for the players <£9m. Sigurdson is tempting me but Spurs should well outscore Swansea and so I think Eriksen may prove to be worth the £2m extra, plus Swansea are away to United in their first game so if Sigurdson does look good I can always downgrade but can't see him getting much at OT

I'm going with Jelavic. He hangs up front whereas Long drops off.

    Krul
    Davies enrique o shea
    sanchez hazard siggy de jong
    rooney sturridge Dzeko
    Taylor(swa) Wisdom Marney Given,
Happy with krul as newcastle have great first 8 fixtures. Then Ill rotate my cheap defenders again all have decent first 8 fixtures. I plan to wildcard by then so thats as far ahead as Im thinking.

This is my 352 attempt, and pretty close to what I'd expect to end up at. What do yous reckon?

    316384.jpg

    Keepers.
Noting comments elsewhere re Chelsea keeper situation I'm still thinking of going with whichever of the two Mourinho plays for the PL. Think it gives option to go with more attack minded defenders without paying 6.5 for Terry.

    Defence.
Have sacrificed the standard Debuchy Arsenal cover to max out on midfield. Still have Chelsea, Spurs and Man U and would hope to have confirmed three viable 4m starters by start of season. If Vermaelen signs for United at 5m would be hard to overlook and would allow upgrading the cheapies.

    Midfield
Very happy with this 5. Tempting to save the 1m on Hazard to Fab but worth keeping Haz to start, can make the change if Fab starts well or Jose falls out with Eden. Eriksen no longers looks must have, but will be watched very closely and may have to be purchased yet. Or Lamela!

    Forwards
Rooney has to be there for the start I think. Tempted by Pelle, but going with the sensible Dzeko option. If Pelle impresses can switch freeing up 1m. Bojan seems the best option for certainty of starting if required, and Stoke rotate with Swansea so he may come in for Siggy as required. And you never know, his willingness to go to Stoke shows he's hungry perhaps, and given a run in the team could do well.
