Why do the prods hate the Ivory Coast?

The 'prods' as you put it dont.

Some Ignorant self proclaimed unionists hate all flags except their own including upside down irish ones.

Your comment is a shakes head one btw.

Makes you look as ignorant as them.

If you haven't been living under a brick, you might've noticed that the tricolour, even with the best intentions, is a representation of Irishness. The Union Jack, with it's Scottish and all input, is British.

What the North needs is a flag that represents Northern Irish - as something like 70% of folk up there, pick that nationality if given the option on forms etc.

Diehards like that idiot who drowned have no interest in a new fleg though.
They'll still only see the Tricolour or the Union Jack as the legitimate official fleg.

Does the Republic tri-colour not already stand for peace between Gaels and the followers of William of Orange, hence the white between the green and orange? It's a nice idea. :pac:

I can't muster any sympathy. This sh*t in the north has been going on all of my lifetime and I'm sick to death of hearing about it. They could move on with their lives but they just can't let go of the bigotry and hatred, frankly fcuk em, the country could do with a lot less of these morons.

Is it fitting to bring up the technicalities of our flag up there?

It's hard to feel sympathy for someone dying during a mindless act fueled by his own bitterness and hatred. A needless waste of life!

I wonder what his last thoughts/feelings were as he went under?
    Fear/Hatred/Regret/Something else?
Whatever your allegiance I can't imagine drowning is particularly pleasant activity.

The flag issue up here is getting put of hand.
I do feel intimidated walking in areas with the kerb stones painted red/blue/white and union flags flying everywhere.
Honestly, at least where I am, there are very very few tricolors flying, so much more union flags. (And I live in a mixed area, well, "mixed" if you ignore the "peace" wall)

Someone mentioned "why not get some new flags that are for everyone"
I don't think more flags will help as people will stick to the older ones.
I know there have been several attempts to desgin flegs to represent all of the people here in the North.
I remember seeing a news article with new flag suggestions last year, trying to find it at the moment, but all were rejected :/

    This suggestion showing causeway
    Whole list of suggestions
    Flax flowers and both colours

Hass suggested a new flag but was told "He asked: “What might a process to design and validate a new Northern Ireland flag look like? What role might such a flag play in civic life?”
But DUP deputy leader Nigel Dodds responded that his party stands “four-square behind the Union Flag as the flag of our country – the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland”.
He added: “Our approach to the Haass discussions will be to ensure the Union Flag is treated with respect as the national flag.”"

    Source
I don't know what Dodds is rabbiting on about, N.Ireland has NO national flag. Only part of UK that does not have a national flag, motto or coat of arms.

Personally I think we should have a new neutral flag.
N.Irelands national flower is the flax flower (or shamrock but not going to suggest that on grounds of it needing to be neutral).
I might make a new thread on N.Ireland's need for a new flag.

I am afraid it the posts and replys on this thread really highlight the fractured nature of society in general when some are making jokes and taking delight about another person from the other side dying.

You need to understand that for the majority of normal people there are no sides. We don't laugh at him because he was from "the other side", we laugh at him because he was an idiot.

Also used to wind each other up. Same with pretty much everything both sides do up there is try and wind the other side up.

Everyone of those flags is mankeh, and whoever thought red hands and stars of david were ever gonna fly should be taken out shot (given that its norn iron maybe only in their knees)

I don't really like any of those suggestions either to be honest, so thats why I think we should get a proper discussion going politically up here about a decent looking flag.
Some of those suggestions are far too political.

remove all flags, clean all kerbs and fines for any political nonsense.

the source of the ere would eventually dry up.

    But it will never happen.
You seen what happened when the fleg was off the city hall for less than 365 days a year.

In all seriousness if it were the opposite way around (down here, union jack) - we'd have people saying
"really tragic, pointless death. Unwanted English imperialism again causes loss of life - why should he choose to turn the other cheek, etc."

We didn't get such lol'ing for the other drownings here this summer - no matter how stupid the circumstance.

Sure they're retardedly jingoistic with rediculous nationalism in the North, but people on the thread don't sound much better crowing about it!

And, fwiw, a Darwin award wouldn't be applicable if he already has children.

People would be saying the same thing, I am unsure what location has to do with it ??
