The Union Jack, with it's Scottish and all input, is British. What the North needs is a flag that represents Northern Irish - as something like 70% of folk up there, pick that nationality if given the option on forms etc.

Honestly, at least where I am, there are very very few tricolors flying, so much more union flags. (And I live in a mixed area, well, "mixed" if you ignore the "peace" wall) Someone mentioned "why not get some new flags that are for everyone" I don't think more flags will help as people will stick to the older ones. I know there have been several attempts to desgin flegs to represent all of the people here in the North. I remember seeing a news article with new flag suggestions last year, trying to find it at the moment, but all were rejected This suggestion showing causewayWhole list of suggestionsFlax flowers and both colours Hass suggested a new flag but was told "He asked: “What might a process to design and validate a new Northern Ireland flag look like? What role might such a flag play in civic life?” But DUP deputy leader Nigel Dodds responded that his party stands “four-square behind the Union Flag as the flag of our country – the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland”. He added: “Our approach to the Haass discussions will be to ensure the Union Flag is treated with respect as the national flag.”"Source I don't know what Dodds is rabbiting on about, N.Ireland has NO national flag. Only part of UK that does not have a national flag, motto or coat of arms. Personally I think we should have a new neutral flag. N.Irelands national flower is the flax flower (or shamrock but not going to suggest that on grounds of it needing to be neutral). I might make a new thread on N.Ireland's need for a new flag.

Unwanted English imperialism again causes loss of life - why should he choose to turn the other cheek, etc." We didn't get such lol'ing for the other drownings here this summer - no matter how stupid the circumstance. Sure they're retardedly jingoistic with rediculous nationalism in the North, but people on the thread don't sound much better crowing about it! And, fwiw, a Darwin award wouldn't be applicable if he already has children.
