Something I've noticed on the Vincent Browne thread is that people make comments not necessarily about a woman's attractiveness, but about her demeanour. Clare Daly, for instance, often gets criticised for appearing too serious. I don't think I've ever seen similar comments being levelled towards male politicians. Politicians, when talking about serious matters, are allowed to look serious... unless they're women, in which case they have a duty to smile and look pretty.

    All the time.

And they are often the ones that claim there is no sexism at all!

Speaking as a divorced man, I can testify that judges, (and everyone else), just assume that the man is responsible for the breakup of the relationship and is therefore not trustworthy. Hence, men usually get a raw deal in the family law courts.

My lord but Dearbhail McDonald is a magnificent woman. The eyes, the voice, the curves, the brains, the bolshiness, the sense of fun.

Cant say that about Tom McGurk!

She's also a very good presenter. Imagine how incoherent this would be if Vincent was interviewing Margaretta D'Arcy.
