Brake fluid changed. Not by me, got my mechanic to do it. The absolute state of the old fluid that came out. It looked like tar. God only knows how long its been in there! All I need to do now is replace the fuel filter and I'll be at inspection 2.

My brakes are so much better than before. The difference in feel and bite is staggering. Just shows how shocking the old fluid was to result in that much of a difference when it was flushed.

Just dipped the golf for oil 9k km since I got it last dipped it and it hasn't burned a drop. I mean the level hasn't moved at all still sitting just under the max mark. It's fair going as even the octavia burns a bit of oil since new.

How i felt today for 40 minutes when my car died on the headford road roundabout blocking half the traffic waiting to get towed to my mechanic.

So this is your first car being a car?

Was that the S60 you bought recently?

Sorry to hear that, especially that every time I think of a change I think of S60.

    What ?
The astra didn't burn much still about 1/2 litre between services. Focus over a litre between service. Just suprised as to the fact it's burning literally nothing even the octavia burns over 1/2 a litre between services and that's fairly new. I had dipped the golf a few weeks ago but only realised today it's been 9k km since it was serviced.

Sorry to here that I know from experience it's a sh!t situation to be in. Them everyone flashing you and blowing you doesn't help as if you were deliberately broken down.

I never get this. I had it once before when a car broke down. Do people really think you're doing it on purpose.

I get used to that now. Every first drive in something in a car has involved a break down. The Wolseley, MG, Saab...

People don't mind so much when you're in an old car though, I find.

    Something is not right there:D

The sellers should review the ads before they place them online. They really should.

That's a **** one man. Know the feeling well from my low mileage one owner from new polo. Broke down twice going over the bridge in celbridge. Anyone who knows it, knows how **** a place that is to brake down. :pac:
Although I'd hate the head fort road roundabout.

Didn't they get rid of that roundabout? If it's the same one we're on about (Galway), when I was learning to drive I went on it thinking "ohh what's this one like", not knowing there were lights on it. Que the beeps and flashes :pac: Never have I gone near it again, I, to this day purposely avoid it - even though it's been changed to lights.

W00t. 12l/100km. Probably even better since about 50 of those 250km was driven in city traffic. And another 20 - 40 done 'pressing on' along some back roads. And a little bit of a dabble up to a fairly quick speed on the M11.

Best I've ever seen from th RX.

Drives like yesterday remind me why I bought the thing. Happy on back roads. Cruises great at speed and has enough power to make safe overtakes without having too much to get me in trouble on loose roads.

There is one further out towards headford again, near the ford Motorpark place, was basically driving from one workplace to another to cover breaks.

Guess what, that **** didn't get covered :pac:

That bridge is one bad place to break down, i'd hate it, along with roundabouts and crossroads

    I've been offered a phase 1 Renault 25 Monaco.

Do I need to think about this?

Yep all of the above. Works fine and is fully roadworthy.

I'm mad to be questioning this aren't I?

Its amazing what some time, a plunger, 2500 grit sandpaper and Meguiars ultimate compound can do. I got sick of looking at it, its still going to need to be repainted and there was one small dent I could not get out which will need to be filled but its a hell of a lot better than it was. The edges have no paint left on them so there nothing I could do with that.
