It must be 70 litre tank is it. I never let mine run down so It doesn't cost too much to fill up then. Normally fill when it gets to 1/4 tank. Plus I can't deal with driving around with the light on freaks me out don't know why probably down to the focus and it's weird cutting out when diesel level got anyway low.

Yep 70 litres! I just try get as much out of it as i can, I don't mind the light because I have a rough range thing on my computer so i kinda know myself when to fill it
When I'm in kildare I always go to mcloughlins, I'd swear I could pick every checkout girl out in a line I'm there that much recently.

Newbridge/Kildare people are the worst for asking questions like you said. The best one I usually get in the truck is "Jaysus ya don't get many of them in petrol". Once I responded, well 90%+ were!

Yep i know them in there, I always go to maxol

All teh hot wimminz work there

I walk past a mk7 golf every morning going to work. 132 highline with every added extra I can see leather seats and all that that light blue really nice car. The one thing that caught my eye is how wrecked the body is. Literally at least one a week I walk past it there is another mark. Currently 4 corners of bumper hit on more than one occasion all severally marked no paint left. Boot all dented in along with centre or rear bumper. Passenger doors have a severe enough scrape about a metre long back to metal. Bottom of the front bumper damaged the whole way long. Marks on driver door. Only in the last few days really deep dent on passenger rear wheel arch. The term not a straight panel is so applicable. Such a nice car hard to believe how wrecked the body is.

That's strange, because you'd think that since they've gone to the effort to get all the extras, they're into their cars, therefore minding like it like a baby, obviously not, hmm......

Lads, can I get your views / opinions on the 2006-2007 Toyota Rav4 1.8 petrol for it's reliability, mpg and boot space?
    Calling KKV.....

Can't really comment on it, to be honest. The 2006 Rav is different to the one I had (I had a 2004). I'm pretty sure in 2005 the one I had stopped being made and was replaced with the newer model (which looks worse, in my opinion, but everyone's opinion is different).

If it helps, though, the 2004 Rav4 was very spacious. It had fully removable rear seats, so your cargo space was akin to that of a van. I had a leather interior, which was very, very comfortable, and the overall ride comfort of the car was fairly good, too. Mine was a 1.8 petrol which means no four wheel drive (though I didn't want 4wd anyway - i'd never use it).

Despite that, it was still competent at light 'off roading' around beaches, sand/grass dunes, and getting up onto footpaths and other awkward areas. The high seating position was great.

Reliability wise, I had it for a year and I got it serviced twice (one of those was a DIY effort as I wanted to learn how to do it myself). The brake pads needed changing, too. I did 25,000km in that year, and it never asked for anything else, nor did it show signs of asking for anything else.

MPG... I did two calculations, and both worked out about 22-24pmpg. Nothing to write home about. Not a cheap car to run, and if I were buying one again I'd buy diesel (but thats a lot to do with my 25,000km aswell). Obviously if you're not doing high mileage then your petrol costs wouldn't be feck all, anyway.

MPG was the only place that car fell down. Even the noise from the exhaust was class. Almost growls at you. biggrin.png

But as I say, they swapped it over to a different model altogether for 2006-2007. Im sure the basics of it are still the same, but I can't comment on the 06/07 with any level of authority at all. Never even sat in one.

    Hope that's of some help.

Has the exact same issue in the C5, it's so common. Although my car was only blowing air to match the temperature outside (so horrible in the winter, roasting in the summer). In your case, it's either the flaps that need replacing or you made need a reduction motor changed. Hopefully it's the latter because my whole dash came out to get to the flaps to find out the matrix itself was damaged. Thankfully I know the mechanic who did me a deal. It is worth the drive to Longford to get it fixed on the spot because it really helps to have someone doing the job who has the parts and who has done it loads of times. Is yours dual climate control or single zone?

Yes please, opinions on the Rav4 1.8 petrol for it's reliability, mpg and boot space? :)

My one is dual control, yeah, and only blowing warm air on the driver side.

I have been doing some extensive reading and apparently there is a fix that means you can cut in at the side of the heaterbox and not have to remove the dash altogether.

I got contact info for a chap in Cookstown, in NI. He fixes a fair few of them and apparently charges (roughly) £160 (note: pound sterling).

I've yet to actually contact him myself, and he hasn't been active on the Pegueot Forums I found him on in a while (2013!) so I'm just kinda hoping he's still at it!

I'll report back when I find out. Otherwise it's off to Longford to spend €450 :o

My heart sank this evening when I went to wash my car.

NO paint-work damaged but some one/thing had hit/scrope the front left of my new car as their is obvious (to me) rubber damage done and also along my driver door :(

My car was so shiny at times my heart would skip a beat when I saw shaddows as thought it was dented, so let her go a lickle dirty for past 9-days to give my heart a break,
and then this evening I saw those rubber marks/streaks.
It could be accidental, but two streaks at front-left and one down my driver-side, so could be on purpose. Exact same size-streaks, exact same cause of damage

Been 9-days since I last washed her so could've happened anytime in those days.

Will be keeping closer eye on her from here though,

It's crap alright to find out that something's happened to your car, not knowing how or when, only seeing it when it comes to washing it - has happened me before too :(

It's not a rental or lease car if that's what you mean or I highly doubt it. I did spot someone in it once and I'd say she was in here 60s. Still 32k plus euro is a lot to spend on a car to have it in this condition.

I'm familiar with this alright, it's the spline that the heater flap rotates on which snaps. Technically a BIC pen could sort the issue out so it's good you have someone in the know to do it. It's especially nice that you won't have to go to Longford! :)

And here's what happens when you let IPA near a Collinite bottle:

The awkward moment reading about a crashed car thread on here then walking into a parked car which sends me stumbling and eventually falling as a result. Herpy derpy

Feeling very clumsy this last while :o

The most annoying thing about that golf (to me) is the essay on the inlet manifold!

So the light issue was sorted out, then went on to the oil switch....I think I'll leave that for another day :pac:

Starter has to come out and a whole load more so tomorrow shall be allocated for that

Just because there is 20 speakers on each side doesn't mean they will sound better. Someone didn't do their homework before completing this "project".

The car is ruined, who would want that car:confused:

Had a first ever positive experience of the main dealer - battery died, was late for work and called them to see if they can jump start the car (taxi costs 20 euro each way, and would have to wait 30 minutes to get one anyway).

They arrived in 10 minutes, and didn't charge me at all. My jaw dropped - she said on the phone it was free of charge, but I couldn't believe it:eek:

New battery fitted, feel sorry for not buying it from them, but money is tight at the moment. Will give them a business when I get the chance, they are not all that bad.

    Dunleas of Kilcullen (Kia dealer).

Very nice people, definitely worth a mention.

Doesn't happen too often these days (I initially asked what the charge was so i can go to an ATM - they genuinely didn't want any money:eek:).

Sent them compliments by email just now, that is all I can do.
