I was actually on that just before you posted, great minds.

    I can't see the harm.

    An apology.

No one who is a millionaire should ever get an apology?
Strange focus on his fiscal success or genre of music than on humanity.

FFS! He wasnt coming here to do a charity gig! He was coming here for the filthy lucre$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$! It was s business arrangement that hasn't worked out!You are naive and vulnerable enough to have swallowed hook line and sinker the old "I love me fans I do" patter. If he loves you so much and its got nothing to do with the money then why doesn't he take the financial hit and play the three gigs!?

a few vocal extremists who want to ruin things for fellow residents and thousands of people in the country

    Extremists?

Ah jaysus your a gas man altogether. That's straight out of the George W Bush playbook. You'll be calling them the Axis of Evil next.

You're thinly veiled threat was thinly veiled.
    Don't backtrack.

Saying I wouldn't park in the area if I was a resident, is a thinly veiled threat? Are you fcuking serious?

Like I said already, that's like my suggesting people close their windows at night, is really me threatening to burgle houses.

The only person backtracking here is you.

You quoted the line "Kick the wing mirrors of cars" and when asked to quote the post where that was said, you cannot. Obviously, as you were, and are, just stirring.

If I was Mr Brooks, I would be talking to my lawyers, about recovering my expected losses from the clowns that organized this event before getting permission, and naming the GAA, and the incompetent clowns in the city council. Then prepare for the launch of his tour in some country that appreciate's his financial contribution to there economy.

Why would he name DCC in his lawsuit?! They did their job. Just because you don't like the desicion they made, it doesn't mean their incompetent. Do you not get that?

Do you realise that tickets for ALL concerts and events are sold subject to licence?

Don't bull**** me, you and I both know what you meant. You're just sickened because I called you out on it.
I would ask anyone here to read your post again for themselves and tell me what they think.

    1) Find me any other major stadium that's hosted 5 consecutive gigs in a row? Go on, I'll wait.

    Wembley, Madison Square Garden.

I'd love to see this decision reversed somehow and the residents get nothing, then the ridiculous agreement that allowed for this crap to happen changed to allow unlimited gigs in the countries premier stadium.

    Try harder.

AFAIK at the time croke park was redeveloped it was limited to three concerts a year with all others to get planning permission

the only reason brookes is playing hardball on the five or none is to avoid having to pay back for two of the concerts...as 1 concert would not leave enough to cover running costs for three
so if all five were to be cancelled it would insurance payout....not out of some love for irish country music fans....DCC and the residents don't deserve a lot of the critism thrown at them over this

MSG is an indoor venue, one, and two the theater for concerts inside holds less than 6,000 people. Far stretch from the 80,000 available at Croke Park

Wembley held 4 nights for Take That, across 5 calendar days, but never played 5 consecutive concerts. Technically, not even 4. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wembley_Stadium#Concerts

Even Woodstock was only 3 days. Does Garth Brooks think he is bigger than Woodstock?!

It is the GAA's stadium and the property of the GAA. Not the public. If you want a premier, public, national concert venue, I suggest you petition for one, and build one and zone one that doesn't require licensing as is the case for a sports stadium which is zoned for sporting events - not concerts.

Michael Jackson did 5 nights in a row at Wembley.

MSG is an Arena, who cares, do they not have residents or is it just that the moaning is saved for stadiums alone?

They applied for 5, 3 were approved. Instead of taking the decision onboard it was ultimatum time and blattering on about "the people of Ireland".

EOTR still can't grasp the difference between submitting an application and submitting an application that actually meets the requirements of the awarding body. It's been a couple of days now and
Reality still isn't sinking in. Hilarious stuff.

I mean who gives a fcuk about a concert hall. This is really about something that is wanting to be used for something it isn't really zoned for, or have full license to do. A concert hall is zoned and has full license for music. A sports stadium for sports. A church for worship. If you want to turn a church into a pub, you have some forms to fill out.

No he didn't, but abba did do 6 nights 35 years ago so apologies. 1 example.

Even if you are arguing about the old Wembley stadium:

    http://ts3.mm.bing.net/th?id=HN.607988823236742710&pid=1.7

Has a much, much different acoustic profile. Croke Park, meanwhile, is far from closed off.

    Time for a recap.

The GAA wanted to build a new Stadium.

This Stadium obviously has an effect on locals and they want to hold more concerts in it.

They do a deal with the locals for three concerts/ events in addition to GAA a year.

The GAA and various promoters flout this agreement on occasions over the years.

The GAA and the promoters throw their biggest dice for 2014 - 9 events (3 ID, 5GB and 1 American Football) - three times what was agreed.

The locals decide they have enough.

DCC actually go easy on the promoters and the GAA by allowing 7 events (3 GB, 31D and the American Football)

GB and 160,000 get pi55ed off.

GB in turn decides to pi55 off the other 240,000.

Instead of thanking DCC for allowing 3 concerts (all above what was agreed) GB and his fans blame the residents

And referring to many posts, some residents do of course want the concerts, but an agreement is an agreement after all.

Also, adverse to some posts above, the world at large does not give a sh1t

But the whole thing is a Load of sh1t!!

This decision as things stand cant be appealed.

    Where do we go now

The Goalposts along with a few sidelines will unfortunately probably be moved due to frantic behind the scenes activity!!! as a result 5 gigs will go ahead. It is one thing being dictated to by the US government but now we are being dictated to by a US line dancer.

Mind you, you might have guessed that I'm on the residents side, but at the same time it is a crying shame that the position has arisen in the first place where people (yes including the culchies) have bought tickets, hotel rooms etc and now the City's economy may not benefit - but blame the causers of the debacle, not those who are merely wanting to have the original planning agreement upheld.

    Good Night

Why don't the GAA just buy the houses that are really close to Croke Park and know them down?
