Will you ever give it a rest, seriously..

You're acting like Garth Brooks wants to rip off the Irish public or something.

The man could have played these gigs at Madison Square Garden if he wanted to. He has played to almost a million people in Central park. He was not short of venues and fans eager for his comeback, but.. he chose Croke Park, as it is the venue in which he has always maintained has the best audience.

This is not something he has just made up in an effort to sell tickets here, he has being saying it for many many years and in his box-set 'The Entertainer', one of the discs is even dedicated solely and exclusively to those Croke park shows which he played back in '97 and also to the Irish fans as a whole but hey, sure why not pretend that he is somehow spoofing us, if it helps your oh so bloody obvious agenda here, which is clearly to paint the guy in as poor a light as possible, just so you can excuse your nonsense opinion that the guy just blowing smoke up our arse just so he can make as much money as he can.
Will he cancel the other 3 dates if all 5 aren't given? And is he right to do it?

The only agenda here is the regulations and the law, and greedy fatboy Brookes is not bigger than either of them, this is not 1997 it is 2014 and we have learned to our cost how much it can cost us, the taxpayer, to allow a few greedy fat pricks to be above both regulation and the law.

No, the City Manager made it clear that it was his desicion alone. Christy Burke confirmed that.

Excuse my ignorance....but is this stage setup so extravagant that it could not be moved to another venue ( Btw I don't care if the gigs to ahead or not).

Is he recording the show....and the equipment is specifically for croke park?

I heard some one say that the first few gigs would be test runs.

Yep, he's such a pro that it takes 5 nights to get it right.

    B0llox. He wants the money!

Bollox yourself. You have no idea what you are talking about.

The guy could get a far bigger pay day for this comeback concert than traipsing all the way across the fcuking planet to play here.

He also is renowned for cutting his financial nose off to spite his face and lose millions upon milions in the process, just because he wants things his way or no way. Which is why I think that it will be 5 gigs or no gigs. This is a stubborn guy here, who has a history of making decisions and sticking with them, no matter how much money he would lose out on, but yet again, why let the truth get in the way of these idiotic nonsensical rants about him only being interested in money.

    Want proof of that?

Go and buy one of his songs (with him singing) on either YouTube, iTunes or Spotify and then come back here and tell us how much money you made for the guy.

A money grabber he most certainly is not.

Well that's an interesting way of looking at it alright.

Myself, well, I believe that he is doing nobody but himself a favour here and it's most definitely about the money, loadsamoney.

In fact I was thinking of proposing a new SI unit of measurement. To be known as a 'Brooks' and used as a measure of how much money is required to pay off a country's national debt. For example it will take approx 10,000 Brooks to pay off our current national debt.

You can't buy tunes on YouTube.
Also, there's no god damn way he'd buy one of GB'S tunes anyway!
If the five gigs are cancelled are you still gonna come up gunning for the wing mirrors around Croker btw?

In 1993, Garth Brooks, who had criticized music stores which sold used CDs since it led to a loss in royalty payments, persuaded Capitol Records not to ship his August 1993 album In Pieces to stores which engaged in this practice. This led to several anti-trust lawsuits against the record label and ended with Capitol shipping the CDs to the stores after all.

He's not a money grabber, he's just looking to get PAID. More power to him but he's got to abide by the law of the land like the rest of us.

The cheapest available tickets were €65.50, hardly doing it out of love at those prices either but that's for each person to make their own minds up on.

A very honourable man is Christy, listening to interviews with him you would be sure he had nothing to do with DCC. He should resign as mayor if he won't stand by the council that made him mayor.

Where? Where would he get 400,000 people in 5 days and 90% of the gate?
He also is renowned for cutting his financial nose off to spite his face and lose millions upon milions in the process,
Like paying his ex $125 million?

And this stubbornness May mean that no-one gets to see him.

You don't actually believe the whole "Only listen to my music in album form" do you? The reason he hasn't released his music digitally? They won't give him a big enough cut.

It's gas how pointing out that these people chose to live beside an 80,000 seater stadium draws the ire of the anti-concert side.

    Because it's the salient point.

You chose to live there and you're shocked / annoyed when they put events on?

The residents are holding out for a payoff.

Any chance of directing us to a link for this assertion. Or is it like the inside of Dougal's head where reality ceases?

Mr Keegan should look to have all those comments regarding the decision retracted as they are casting serious doubts about his ability to do his job. We've even had Kenny questioning this decision, incredible stuff really.

The only person with a full view of all the facts is being pillared and his decision making called into question over 2 concerts.

    1) Find me any other major stadium that's hosted 5 consecutive gigs in a row? Go on, I'll wait.

    2) Payoff? the licenses have been refused, What can a payoff do?

Residents objected, county council denied 2 days, Garth brooks says it's 5 or nothing, residents sh1t themselves and try to back paddle, council tells them to F off.

Would it be possible to see how many residents are long standing in the area, and those that bought in the boom times for cheap houses.

So because some neighbours don't agree with his desicio, this means he's not doing his job properly? So his job consists of doing what some neighbours want? Wow!
