the GAA should on all terms refuse to do as such, the residents aren't entitled to any binding agreement from the GAA, the objections at the licence application is enough for them. only the planning agreement should be binding which it is and the GAA sticks to it

If the promoters have your attitude you can expect more cancelled events in the years to come.

no they didn't, the promotors got away with it, they have a precedent of 7 concerts in one year now
Nah, GB aint playing at all now!:p

What the residents faced here if the GAA and promoters got away with this was life altering however.

it wasn't, 5 is only 2 more then 3, the GAA and promoters didn't have to get away with anything as there was nothing to get away with, they did what was required of them

I agree, the gaa and mr aiken taught they would bully a license for the event and they all saw only dollar signs,Peter aiken said tonight he mite call it all off, more like brook's will do that,it would not be fair to hold three concerts and sweep the other 160000 fans under the carpet.from the start it should have been obvious that croke park was too small for this event, brooks in sure will sue aiken for breach of contract.

How about 3 concerts a year, and

    No free GAA tickets
    No free concert tickets
No money towards any community projects

    ?

I know a fella who is a trucker that delivers stuff into the place where I work, he is one of the people who live near CP and gets free tickets.

Sells them on for a tidy profit, but of course you won't hear about that, the residents don't care that they have ruined the plans of thousands of people.

Oh give me a break. People are going round the houses here in an effort to make the residents look reasonable when they have been anything but.

Helicopters are used on All Ireland day for news reports. The fact that it has been specifically stipulated here that they are not to be used and the reason given for it is that they would cause disruption, means that an objection was put in regarding them.
they can still use them though, no evidence to say their wasn't one in the area all ready flying around

Why are people being so abusive?
How is this not being moderated?

    So what would they lose?

Better suggestion is that 3 concerts a year are allowed with 10% of the gross tickets sales being given to community projects.:)

They did everything but have a license before promoting the event and there was the problem, they broke the law from the start.

Ha ha.. okay so on one side if the people get their way, it's power to the people
If the other people get their way, it's mob rule

    Gotcha.

Is this practice not done the world over. Subject to licence and all that.

That may very well be the case, but given the potential objection by the residents which was evident from early on, it was probably a bit....well "previous" as we say in Dubland!

What law would that be ? Selling tickets subject to licence is not illegal is it ?

I hope you remember that when your brain surgeon hasn't slept properly 5 nights running before he operates on you.

I don't even know what's going to keep them awake. Most people at the concert will be on the beer in town by 12 I know I will, you would swear it's an all night concert.

People are having more trouble sleeping with the heat than people around croke park would have during these concerts.

It's like people moving out to the country and then complaining that a farmer is working in the field late at night keeping them awake.

The GAA have knocked a good bit out of it already. All they need now is to canvass away till they get an acceptance from the powers that be of six concerts a year as they have now. It will come as sure as rugby/soccer came.

with 10% of the gross tickets sales being given to community projects.:)

I'd say the chances of that happening after today is slim to absolute zero

Ever time I read comments like this, I feel a little happier that the residents got their deserved win

I'm glad you're smug, I hope you feel the residents quiet couple of days are worth the cost the economy.

This post from Gigs & Events sums up what most of the 70k (well less probably 28k of them now that two are pulled) that are/were coming to Ireland from overseas for those are feeling -
Please pull the other shows. It would not be fair to the residents. I no longer want to inconvenience them nor support the Irish economy. I will just spend my tourism Euros where myself and other obnoxious Garth and/or concert fans are welcome.

But if the residents wanted the rule of law they would want ALL the GB concerts cancelled. The ruling states only three in one year. Smacks of having cake and eating it..
3 before having to apply for an events licence, so they can have more as long as the licences are granted

have a read of section 230 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 and then come back to us.

I am pretty certain that residents get an allocation of free tickets for matches and gigs....Am SURE GAA contribute to community projects.

which they should refuse to pay, the GAA don't have to pay any and would be right not to pay any fines for having extra gigs, croke park is a large venue known world wide and should be used to its full potential so i would support the GAA refusing to pay any fines for using it

So you're encouraging law breaking to get what you want?

they broke the law - it's clear black and white, yet you choose to ignore it.
Earlier on you said that it was the councils decision, so why not attack them?

these concerts will end around 10 11, when most people go to bed anyway

The concert finishes at about 11 but the noise goes on for hours after that
