What's the attire for ist? Don't want to show up looking like odd one out! Although I've a while to wait yet

at my last ones there were people wearing tracksuits .. Suits and then the majority were just smart casual .. Jeans/dressy top etc .. Or jeans and a shirt for fellas :)

Don't think it matters at all what you wear to IST! I wore jeans and a hoodie, I doubt anyone even notices. It's only ac when they are looking at you.

Anyone with GCSE Maths & English could pass the IST (if there was no time limit and you completed at home).

It's all about working under pressure. Classroom conditions with very strict timings  Getting your brain to do the right things under these conditions can be tough.

Also it makes no difference if you scrape a pass or get 100%, they don't count IST scores further down the line. They could but at the minute they don't.
The actual pass mark has been known to change so obviously you'll want to be as high up there as you can go :)

    You could try this :)

Seriously though,at any exam I ever attended the students were dressing as comfortably as possible. Just dress to blend in with the locals.

Ah no! I was pretty confident for the IST, well use to these tests and thought if I scored pretty high it would stand to me. It's the part I'm least dreading

That's much better than ours lmao!!!

I just wore a pair of smart/casual trousers, kitten heeled Mary Janes and a fine knit jumper, handbag to match the shoes obviously :P sorry guys, it has to be done

Re IST dress code; wear whatever you'd normally wear that day. I'll be at work so I'll be in a shirt and tie. If I was off it would be jeans and t-shirt :)

On IST day you are literally just a number.
If you turned up in your Nazi fancy dress with obscenities tattooed on your face then you might draw attention from Deloitte lol

You should see the one I have!!!! My best friend was marrying a PC so we all dressed in cop outfits and stuck her in a robbers outfit. Best nights banter I had in along while!!! Of course I couldn't do traditional cop outfit, went as SWAT, wishful thinking lol

Is it true your IST score doesn't count and it's pass/fail?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,263 ✭✭✭DesertCreat_15

Well it counts in the sense that you will get your AC sooner - I think-

It'll be used to calculate merit order when it comes to placing those with the same AC score.

Last campaign, some candidates sat some of the first ACs with IST scores in the 50s, with higher scores sitting it later. Doesn't look like it has a bearing on your AC date, unless they change that this campaign.

I don't think that was the case last time. I scored fairly high and had a late AC!

Is the mock exam provided on the joinpsni website the exact same as the real test or are there differences?

Last time there was a passage, underline 20 spelling and grammar mistakes, then several small passages with the T/F/CT and then an A4 sheet cramped with info and they gave you multiple choice questions based on the info provided. Pretty much like the mock one but lots more of it.
