As this is the food & drink forum - I enjoyed quite a few Junker beers this afternoon at a local Rugby 7s tournament. Having a Moscow Mule with lots of ice (26C here right now) then away home to make a fish curry. No photos as I am having difficulty focusing myself right now never mind using a camera. :pac:

I hate you both. I am in my Mam's place, being antisocial and swearing at R Studio, and I've just been offered a glass of 'juice'. Juice of what I do not know and I am particularly scared of the crusty bits

You don't want a glass, no? It goes 'glooop....gloop' if you move the jug.

On the plus side - there are a lot of kitkats here.

Aww, did StripedBoxers' mistake cut deeper than you admitted earlier Gloomtastic?

I've had lots of gender surprises here.
    I don't mention them, though. 😉

KitKat juice would be the best drink ever.

Long live the metrosexual food people!

That juice my mam made was crunchy :( Turns out 'making juice' was just blending celery and various bits of fruit and thruning it into a jug. Not good, not good.

Went to Bison for lunch yesterday, place is awesome, food is awesome.

We each got a combo plate (we weren't in a sharing mood)...:o

We had sausage, chicken, pulled pork and ribs, onion rings, chips and coleslaw. Everything was devoured. It was so so delicious. We're already planning our next trip there.

They gave us this delicious chipotle mayo which was delicious. We'd never had anything with chipotle before and for some reason I thought it would be super spicy but this wasn't, this was delicious. I must have a look for a recipe and try make something similar.

Bison is my favourite place to eat. The staff are fantastic and besides the meat they have amazing brownies.

Has anybody here eaten in Odessa? Will be going to Dublin for Garth Brooks next month and should be there for around midday and was told that this place is good for brunch - thanks :-)

I've never had brunch in Odessa, but I went for dinner a few weeks ago not expecting much and had a really nice pasta dish, lots of fresh veg, so I'd certainly recommend the food... Tables were on top of one another though!

Thanks! Any recommendations for a place with a really good brunch apart from there so?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 412 ✭✭fiddlechic

    Odessa is great.
    But also consider San Lorenzos.
Northside: Wuff or Oscars (bit more ordinary but very good).

Went to Beshoffs in Howth for brunch this morning - worst service ever! My favourite bit though ......

Me: 'Can I have some butter for my toast please?'
Waitress: 'Oh. I don't have butter with toast!'

We unfortunately had no room for desert, but I will make sure to leave room next time.

We did to go Cocoa Atelier on Drury Street for Macaroons though, delicious they were. Expensive, but nice for an odd treat.

I personally am not dying about Odessa but I may give it another go seeing as it's a couple of years since I've been.

Here are some links for some ideas. What are you hoping to eat? There's everything from Mexican to a fry up in the places listed:

Looked up San Lorenzos menu - sounds good! Might try either there or Odessa!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone :-)

I've been obsessing over San Lorenzos all day. It's definitely on my list of places to try soon. If you look them up on Twitter or Facebook they have some photos of the food. It looks amazing.

    Go to San Lorenzo's.

Get the French toast with bacon.

    Win life.

Whitefriar Grill (but reserve in advance, they're jammers for brunch) or in the No Name Bar, upstairs from L'Gueleton (where, you can also have the same brunch but it's a bit dark in there for my brunch tastes, upstairs is bright and sunny and smells like the mint & lime they're cutting for mojitos). Brioche French toast with caramelised banana and bacon or, if they have it, the braised beef sandwich. And fries with hollandaise

OMG whitefriar grill sounds lovely also Miss Flitworth! Eeeek, decisions decisions!

Reminds me of when I was in a pub in the UK a few years ago and my friend and I ordered tea after our meal. The lad behind the bar looked both terrified and bemused by our request but we didn't think much of it. So, he served us our tea and we sat down, did our milk and sugar routine and then realised something was... off about the tea. Turns out he'd given us some kind of herbal tea. He had obviously never made tea before! We just thought it was hilarious, to be honest. :D And they of course gave us the normal breakfast tea or whatever then.

Forgot about WhiteFriar Grill. Also very lovely.
