    Thinking of a 3.2 brera

    Thoughts?

What about a 3.2 gt? You still have the good old busso with them in one of its best forms.

The brera 3.2, has the gm block which is horrible (well probably not horrible, but horrible for what it signified). It's also incredibly slow, but looks jaw dropping beautiful. If you've your heart set on a brera, I'd be going for the 2.4 jtd.

This one here looks very well too and I'd say you'd get a nice bit off the asking.
He was asking 4k for it last year. Even at the asking price, it's worth that much in parts.

Or you could buy a 350Z and not worry about it breaking down all the time.
Skyline 350GT if you need the extra seats.

    Beautiful car.... said the taxman.

Fair ****'s to you if you buy it though because it's rare enough to find a 'proper' car in this country. But I don't think I could hack the bills.... it's making my pucker sphincter from here.

Umm.... try an Rx-8 if the tax makes your eyes water. Just be careful about finding a good one.

Get out of here with your tax gubbins! :P

According to ned in autolusso it can take 4 hours to get the tracking set it up properly on it when the arms are polybushed......but most of that I guess would be adjusting the camber etc on the uppers.

Surely George knows of a reputable chap who knows what he's doing. I dread getting it done on the gtv when they'll have this to play with. :pac:

    That's a sweet set up!

Alfa GTs imo are the ugliest car they ever made (well maybe not quite but close!!)

Breras are lovely from the front and side but have the same problem as a scirocco at the back. Far too high and chunky looking.

    Also any V6 > any diesel :p

Is it worth going for a crap colour 2.3 S60 T5 if it's small money ?

    250bhp standard.

    I am tempt

    No.

I have one simple rule when buying: when you park the car and you don't look back in appreciation of it as you're walking away, then walk away.

No point in buying something you don't really like. ;)

    Ok folks, €15k to spend.

2012 Ford Mondeo Titaium X, 2010 3series Efficient Dynamics, 2012 Accord Exec, Seat Exeo Sport Tech, Octavia RS (all diesel)??

    Any suggestions?

    2005 M5 :D

Mondeo - bloody awful yokes, good for a taxi. No idea why anyone likes them.

2010 3 Series - EfficientDynamics really takes from the car.

    2012 Accord Exec - Nice

Exeo Sport Tech - Looks okay, but will be hard to resell

Octavia vRS - Nice too, but diesel wouldn't be my cup of tea.

What about a 2011 Volvo S60 D3. Have you considered that?

Considering stheno was asking about a brera 3.2 which has the higher rate of tax, I thought I'd suggest an alfa with a proper v6.

Any v6 beats a diesel, except when the v6 is a jts and the diesel is a 5 cylinder jtd.

I have a water pump to throw into my e46 this evening. Should be a bit of craic, I reckon it'll take all of 45 minutes to do. I really, really should get around to replacing the expansion tank, it's about the only thing left in the cooling system that I haven't replaced! I also have a brass bleed screw to replace the plastic ones which have cracked on me. Should be a nice evening!

    1. Accord
    2. Mondeo - great cruisers IMO
    3. Exeo - well proven car with more modern engines.
    4. VRS - although it's a class down on all the others - it's noisy and feels old fashioned.
    5. BMW - I wouldn't take the risk on one with the known timing chain issues.

Where are you getting a 2012 Accord or Mondeo for €15k?

I would change the tank and bleed screws first. Then the water pump and coolant. You wouldn't go filling a bucket with holes in it now :P. There's a treat of some light rain so make haste.

Bleed screw is on the top hose, so it can replaced whenever...when I get home pretty much!

As for the water pump, I'm not going to fully drain the coolant, just going to pop out the old pump and let whatever spills out happen. And then pop the new one in. No biggy. Ah, I'm not bothered replacing the expansion tank at the moment...maybe in a little while!

    Is it diesel

    What's the tax

What will it do to 20 euros of diesel

    How much are the tires

    What car is it again

    Etc etc etc....

Best of luck with the sale and I'm looking foreward to see what you'll have next!

I'll give you a game of limbo to see how low you'l go on the price :pac:

I'm actually shocked at the engine size, i thought it was similar to mine or even larger! Best of luck selling it though :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,295 ✭✭✭Supergurrier

When i put mine up had no calls or anything for 6 days.

Then two buyers at once last friday morning first to view bought 2 days after dropping deposit on the sunday.

    Which was nice.

Thoughts on this yoke as a throwaway/beater daily ???
