Tony Barrett had an interesting blog on the matter on the times website. No point in linking it as its behind the paywall now.

    ......

His recent anger with the English media relates to a headline in the Sun which referenced his biting incident.

That's the first time I've seen that said but in the lead up to the England Uruguay game I saw the Sun headline something along the lines of 'Look who's biting back' with a huge picture of Suarez with his mouth wide open. At the time I thought to myself that it was a bit low in the build up to the England Uruguay game but then given the history of Liverpool & LFC and the Sun I'd decided that nothing was too low for those scumbags. Just to add fuel to the fire the headline came against a backdrop of Merseyside Royal Mail workers winning a victory after refusing to handle free promotional copies of the Sun to households across Liverpool city.

During his post match interview after the England game Suarez broke down in tears and said "I am enjoying the moment because of all the criticism I received". Someone on the match thread speculated that it might have been aimed at the Uruguayan media, because of a hack there who said he should have played their first game against Costa Rica. But after I'd seen the Sun drag up the past with the biting references I had a feeling his comments were aimed at them.

Suarez has acknowledged that the biting incident wasn't his finest hour. He took his punishment and served his ban. He has come back stronger and won the Golden Boot yet all the Sun could think of was dragging up the past. Fair play to him for showing that actions speak louder than the Sun's vile words.

He confirmed on TV here that his words were aimed at the English media and the things they have said about him.

Swansea just signed Gomis. Bony anyone?

To be fair, the S*n thing was pretty tame...just a really shit joke. Not sure why he'd be so upset about it, given it's nowhere even remotely near what the press have said about him previously.

Maybe if we hadn't of signed Lambert. He would be a very good signing though if available.

25 goals last season for a struggling Swansea side. Thats a reasonable fee in my opinion. I think its a realistic option if Suarez does leave.

I missed that but either way it doesn't surprise me with the way they are treating him. He has put his head down and worked hard but they have shown him no respect for the change in his attitude and how much he has added to the Premier League this year. Instead of acknowledging Suarez as world class and being thankful a player of such calibre plays in the UK the British tabloid media would prefer to paint him as some sort of national figure of hate and do their best to hound him out of the UK.

If Suarez was an American sports star and he bit an opponent but then made a comeback to be the best player in the league the following season the media would be lauding him for coming back from the ashes. But in England the Sun and their ilk only deal in hate, and anything to do with Liverpool and LFC gets an extra large dollop of it.

there will be many scoffing at the idea of any big club signing the likes of Lallana and Shaw after today's game.

much the same as people think Gerrard is useless and should be put out to pasture now.

i would say, you'd have to be an eejit to take that seriously the performance of any player under Hodgson.

don't get me wrong, Shaw isn't worth half of £40m and Lallana is too expensive at £20m+. but they are excellent players who are merely the latest to look extremely ordinary under Hodgson.

Probably I was shouting for us to sign him on here before anyone else, eventually Swansea did, but for a 3rd striker spending 20M is something I rather was put entirely towards the starting XI.

Sturridge is having one of them games for England right now.

I think he would be an option if Suarez left. Not so sure he would be behind Sturridge in the pecking order. Pretty evenly balanced. Perhaps you could rely on Bony more.

i'd say Hodgson has coached his ability to shoot out of him.

Fair bit of xenophobia added in there too and cultural ignorance.

He made the comments on Argentine public tv (program called de Zurda), interviewed by Maradona by phone. El Diego was very flattering, bit of a love in.

You could rely on Sturridge more obviously, given that he has already scored goals for the team and knows how Rogers team plays (very differently from his previous Swansea team).

If el pistolero stays, we've no need for strikers. If he goes, we need a hell of a lot more than Bony can offer.

Suarez bite again? Might dampen transfer talk anyhow without any suspension for Liverpool. Win win in a weird scummy way?

    Mentalist.

At this stage it's clear, reward and praise have not worked.

We get him a muzzle or we remove those choppers.

    Headcase.

Seriously if he has bitten someone again I'd like to see people try to defend this one.

It's ridiculous. Surely a lengthy international ban if it is as it looked. He's not right in the head when he's on the pitch clearly.
