Yet I'm sure there will be Lefty enablers who will bleat on about the rest of us needing to show "understanding" and "compassion" for these "misunderstood", " maligned" and "betrayed" youth.

I assume that you have evidence for this general sweeping statement?

Yea, i was working up there for about six months and saw it first hand. Up there by the church. every three or four days there was a garda van rolling in.

Probably the harshest part of the city, but still a honeymoon compared to other areas in dublin.

Gosh! It's a wonder you made it out alive at all.....

While its horrible what happened the horse I dont understand why people seem to get so much more upset over cruelty towards animals than other people

This girl was just 18, she suffered an unimaginably horrible death much worse than that foal, she probably did as much to deserve to be murdered as the foal did too... and while Im happy people care about the injustice towards an innocent animal its just a little disturbing to see so few people caring about her death. Wheres her thread..

Yes it's shocking that there isn't a current thread about an incident from over two years back. Is there anything worse than self righteous posters who come into a thread to tell people that it's a disgrace they don't care and then link to a story from years back.

I knew people would say that. Two men were charged with her murder this week and thats why it was in the news again, its not a well known news story, the foal dying was biggers news. It is a disgrace .

Pretty sure they were both big stories and what's stopping you starting a thread about it. Obviously you don't really care, if you did you'd have a thread for it.

I care about the horse I didnt start the thread, all Im wondering is why theres more public outrage over the horse than a young woman

I never hear of either until they were mentioned here. So if you start a thread I'm sure we can all pop over and be outraged and then we can start posting irrelevant things that happened and complain nobody cares about them.

The public outrage over the woman would have been over two years back, you know when the actual incident took place. Not now years after the fact, if it's so dear to your heart then why can't you start a thread or you could search back through the various threads as I'm sure there was one made at the time about the horrible crime.

When you see a thread titled such as this one, and you want to see what peoples reactions are to a foal that was beaten to death....and people throw in their bit about veganism/vegetarianism, where the worst places in Galway are, and people being murdered two years ago. all worthy of having their own threads, buy why bring it here?

Well I heard about the horse many times on facebook and twitter. And its not irrelevant it was in the news this week, same time as the horse story...

There was no public outrage two years back, you know when the actual incident took place. If an irish girl was murdered two years ago and her murderers arrested just this week it would be big news. Bigger news than a foal dying.

It's not a question of which is more heinous as both crimes are. The difference is that someone will serve time for the murder of the woman, the point of this thread is to show that time and time again the crimes against defenceless animals go unpunished, which serves to promote these barbaric acts rather than prevent them

A quick search brings up a number of threads on boards about it, in which multiple people express outrage that such a despicable crime could be committed. Most users seemed outraged by the murder. There are also numerous newspaper articles about it, and as such I'm wondering what else exactly you want from people.

Well I found one, and it was about the lack of sympathy toward the case..and most posters seemed to be taking the piss. But okay fine you win...everyone cared so much..clearly...
But it was stupid of me to post about it in this thread, I know.
I just sometimes get annoyed about how outraged everyone seems to be when a horse or a dog get hurt when worse things happen to other people.

Ironically started by someone with the same view as you, that just because they don't have a thread in AH nobody cares about them.

I don't know about you but I'm capable of being outraged at two things at once.

Don't let the existence of a thread about it from 2 months before the one you mention get in the way of you and your self righteousness.

Only because you put more value on a human life than an animals.
With regard to this case, has there been any update?

Yeah because I was being so self righteous. Im not saying nobody should promote the welfare of animals, its very sad what happened the foal and it makes me happy people care about it, I'm just shocked the roma girl case wasnt a bigger story. Thats all Im saying

What exactly more do you want? People on boards expressed outrage, every national paper carried numerous stores on it and it was all over the news at the time.

What's the fcukin thrill of settin an animal alight?
Seriously I'd love t catch scum like that.
    ****in bell ends

You're going to need a bigger boat.

    Huh
Isolated? Go to majority of traveler camps to see how cruelty against horses isn't "isolated"...

EDIT: Not saying it's only traveler camps, or all but all the cases I've seen like this, these are the culprits. And I work with horses so I've seen a few...

I'm sick of these stories!! Fukn travellers again. They should be banned from having horses! Absolute scum a hateful community!

Go on go ahead ban me for speaking my mind and the truth!

    I see a pattern emerging.
    sup_dude wrote: »
Even then, they won't get involved. Huge must mean a threat to human life. Animals don't count here. Look at the case in Limerick where a vet was held off a dying horse by travelers for three hours and there wasn't a peep from the gardai

Those that did this should not be considered human and deserve nothing more than a bullet in the back of their heads.

That's very, um, human of you.
Sounds good but try getting Travellers to obey those rules.

Absolutely. And I say this as someone who has eaten horse. But you treat a section of society as "scum" - don't be surprised when said section behaves like "scum".

I didn't say it was in this case however, the post I quoted to write that had said this was an isolated case. However, if you walk down to a lot of traveler camps, you will find neglected and abused horses. There is no judgement in that. It is the simple truth. Like I said, I work with horses and probably see the extent of the damage more than people who don't work with horses.

The post you quoted me in there, it was travelers who held off a vet. I'm not on an anti-travelers rant. I am merely pointing out facts. EDIT: I should say, in that case where the vet was held off, I know those horses. They were in Castletroy in Limerick. I pass them every day and they are in desperate shape.

Come to think of it, my great great great grand father died in the famine. I want to start a thread to demand justice...:D

Fair enough. I'm not blind to the wrongs and wrongdoings that go on. I do, however, get a bit worried when people start to fantasize about brutal retribution (not you, I hasten to add)

Travellers bend the rules to suit themselves, they treat animals very badly.

I see where you are going with this, as usual you think we are all big bad racists.

And I see where this thread is going. As usual a section of society is being demonised. People are calling for brutal retribution and the very same weep crocodile tears over the horse.

Treating animals badly is of course, to be frowned on. But evidently, treating human beings like animals is to be applauded.

Well no need to include me in it, I didn't call for vigilante justice, but i do want the Gardai to investigate this and haul the scrotes before the courts.
