whats the best way of getting to the venue by car from Dublin/kildare on a day trip, is it better to park in the city somewhere where their running a shuttle bus (maybe train station) or just drive straight to venue and park in 1 of the car parks beside venue. just thinking of traffic & cost as thinking of heading down early Sunday and be on my own so i'm not great direction wise :)

Another one that would have drawn some crowds just withdrew - John Daly, think they were planning a whacky trousers day on either Thursday or Friday around him

John Daly just got a better offer it seems. He's teeing off at 13.20 local in the travellers tomorrow. I'm a bit disappointed to hear that tbh, I'd presumed he was injured or whatever.

Bit of a joke that as he was used in alot of adverts for the tournament.

Greg Allen saying that Rory shot a 63 today at the ProAm..... 7 birdies and a tap in eagle. That will worry a few of his competitors.

Was -6 through 12. Missed 2 simple putts at 13 and 14... They were gimmies, so I wonder if it counted could the score have been higher!

    You should be fine

I've never gone to a golf event before, tickets are down as being 35€ at the gate. Can someone who's been give a quick bit of advice as to the likely overall cost involved for two. Is there student tickets? Parking? tae and hang sandwiches allowed?

They don't do student tickets but they have discounts for under 21s and over 60s (under 16s are free).
There is parking, it was free at Carton House last year so should be the same this year.
Bring all the food/drink you want (apart from glass bottles I assume). You'll be ripped off if you buy food at the course.

Fabulous looking morning for golf. The place will be looking great and will be a good ad for Ireland. I'm in France on hols, but will be watching on TV - can't wait for it to start!

Only past the venue about 30min ago traffic is very light gardai are on the roundabouts but are not diverting traffic as far as could make out. I saw a few signs for park and rides in the area which is much better for you then travelling into the city.

Was supposed to go today but didnt make it in the end.

The 6th hole, psychologically, must be one of the hardest tees in the world.

Changes the hole completely. I managed a par from the "old" tee, not from the new tee.

Mcilroy redeemed himself with birdie on last but has a lot of work to do to stay around for the weekend. His body language all morning says he's struggling which was in complete contrast to yesterday.

Was down at the sixth tee as Larrazabal was waiting to tee off. Tide was out, there was a tyre sitting up in the mud about 120 out. Takes out a long iron and hits two balls out. Second one barely missed by a foot and continued on for another 100 yards bouncing on the mud.
Unreal talent on tap. My new favourite on ET, constantly smiling and joking. Even suggested bribing McGinley with a "present"to make it to Gleneagles on one teebox :-)

It was. Jacquelin was up next and you could see him eyeing the tyre only got distracted by someone before he got a chance.

Heading up to Fota now tomorrow, looking forward to it. Here's hoping for some Paddy magic and Rory to get himself back into contention. A special mention to a cult hero in Jeev Milkha Singh who after an impressive showing in Killarney in 2011 I see is T9th :D

Glad to see you've found a replacement cult hero ;)
Only Singh When You're Winning has to be your team name if you are doing the fantasy golf?

Enjoy tomorrow, take a few pics of Raphael Jacqueline for me.

I watched yesterday on a laptop in France. It looked fabulous - great ad for Ireland, and good golf. Delighted to see Harrington put in a good round. Nice stuff from GMac and let's hope Little Mac pulls himself up today. I always seem to be rooting for Peter Lawrie, so was delighted to see him score well yesterday. Plenty of Irish players well up the leaderboard, so the makings of great watching today.

Gmac on a great run now, tied for the lead.

Great golf by GMac, 3 birdies on the trot and a tie for the lead.

Even better was seeing him give Lowry a little nod and word of encouragement on their 12th hole just before Shane had a birdie putt. Great sportsmanship.

Shane has birdied 2/3 and back to level par now. Think he'll need to get to -1 the way the scoring is going.

Some of the camera work unfortunately is very amateurish. Course looks fantastic though.
