Server has large number of lag spikes at the moment. Anyone doing something with animals/mobs? Wasn't there earlier.

Server is definitely not happy. Took a long time to log in, and when I did, I found myself in the dark, sinking slowly downwards for about 15 seconds before I was kicked out. I think I had a dream like that when I was a kid ... :eek:

Server did indeed ruin itself. It's back up now. You may have lost a few minutes of work if you were on when it crashed. As I have said to others on the server, if there is severe lag again, send me a message on skype - jujumushu

Ok! So myself, Pomp, Renegaider were chatting about it tonight, and we're going to do a trial run of a hunger-games dealie on the survival server tomorrow evening! All welcome. All rules done by honour system, no prizes.

This is the general area I had in mind.

You'll enter the islands via a nether portal - you won't know where. There will be a clear safe-zone however, so there can be no spawn killing.

Everybody starts completely from scratch, you need to make all your own tools, armour and weapons while you're there.

If you want to sleep, you must negotiate it with whoever is online.

We can register kills in a thread here maybe?

You cannot log off with another player in sight/in chase. If you do so, expect to be suffocated or something.

Mining! Any suggestions for rules about mining?

I realize what could happen is everybody spends the whole evening underground looking for diamonds. Should we perhaps have like 30 minutes at the start for everyone to try get as much iron/diamonds as they can (no killing). You can then choose to use all of it in your first life, or keep some of it safely in a chest at the safe spawn house?

Why not limit it to Stone Tools/Swords? And perhaps a Y-Axis restriction on mining, Iron will spawn reasonable high up anyway. Looking at the picture of the island, you'd probably find iron on the stone surface.

This will pretty much make it even-ish. Iron armor pieces and stone weapons. Itll very much make it a surprise attack = kill, much like Hunger Games. Skill will dictate the fight and flight elements :] Thoughts?

Yeah, 55 sounds good. And perhaps a 20 minute prep stage. That should be enough time to kit up in some regard. Once 20mins are up, we come to the surface, and begin the round.

Depending on numbers, as a person dies, the remainder should move closer to the center of the island perhaps? Then when its 1v1, they're both close to one another. Alternatively, the center point has food chests, and we're not allowed to get food another way? Each person can be given say 6 steaks at the start of the prep stage. Should be plenty to see us through mining, but eventually need to go to the food crates.

Dont make it overly complicated. The mining rule sounds fair enough but i think we should have to find our own food.

Much do Melons regenerate? Half hunger or one? Perhaps carrots? 2 hunger each. And agreed, if there are four or less, this would be ideal. If more, we get our own foods.

Agreed, tools and bit of food would be ideal. With that number of people, a smaller island would be good too perhaps. Lot of roaming and getting lost at times (also someone birdnesting too!)

Overall fantastic! Thanks to deconduo for being present, and massive thanks for Dark setting up the spawn area!

Just a question, are we allowed to use mods on the server for Survival? Would like to get the timber mod where when you chop a tree, all blocks fall down instead of chopping every single timber block in the tree. Would that be allowed?

Any mods that make the game easier as such, aren't allowed. However maps are and that technically makes stuff easier...

Is the Survival server down? Keeps giving me Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.timeout.ReadTimeoutException

Yeah i just tried to connect and got the same thing. Did some googling and apparently the server needs to be restarted.
