Seriously though, the RTE panel is on it's last legs this year. They couldn't be bothered looking for any new blood. I see Joey Barton is doing a bit on Eurosport. I think they missed a trick with him. Love him or hate him, if you follow him outside football, he talks a lot of sense. And could bring a controversial factor too

    Tuning into BBC now

Enjoy, Rio, Shearer and Henry are very insightful controversial pundits.

    Come on Eng.....
Come on En.... No, I just can't do it!!!!

Best of luck Stevie and co!! Couldn't begrudge the skipper lifting the trophy I fairness.

BBC panel is so laughably vanilla. Cliches abound.

The mind boggles that some aren't fans of the rte panel.

I don't see the confusion lads.

I want England to lose all 3 games.

Get our players home early and get some rest in for the long season ahead. There is NOTHING to be gained by England progressing.

It would also be nice for the public to see just how poor a manager Hodgson is. Tactically stuck in the 80's and talks more nonsense than any park bench drunk when interviewed.

I'd love to see half the Liverpool team lifting the world cup (and yeah I know they won't). The buzz off that would cancel out any exhaustion.

Jaysus Johnson is beyond awful. At least he's consistent I suppose.

Delighted for Sturridge. Henderson showing Gerrard up in that half.

I'll tell you this, I'd be more worried about Madrid sniffing around Sterling than Suarez the way things are going today.

The future of our midfield, from next season...

Sterling, at the age he is, is easily going to be one of the best players in the EPL and probably by next season his status will be confirmed. If a team offered 30 million for him now I'd say **** off. I don't think we've had a player like him since McManaman.

I honestly think we could lose Suarez next season and still be in the top 4, even challenge for the title. But lose players like Sterling or Hendo and we are ****ed.

The great thing is, Sterling has had much better games than this one. I'd go so far as to say he's been a bit out of sorts over all.

AS much as I want to see the LFC lads do well. England and Uruguay going out early is good for us

The Problem with England, continues to Rear its Ugly Head. And that they don't have a Manager that has the Balls, to Drop the Big Names, when they are not playing well.

Gerrard and Rooney should have been the ones to be Subbed.

Pretty **** subs from Woy, always knew he'd be the stumbling block for a very good young England team.

I think I am going to watch the game tomorrow just to watch Pirlo. Masterclass again.

Fairly sure Lallana is not worth £25m.

    Maybe £15m at a push.

With a bit of luck this world cup effort will turn BR off wanting Lalllana at any cost.

Rodgers is allergic to subbing Stevie as well.

It's no trivial matter to sub off your captain. It should be, but that's just not the way the politics of it work.

Sorry but Rodgers actually gave Gerrard a new role that suits his age and capabilities better.
Hodgson is not doing that and even said tonight that Gerrard did everything he expected so nothing will change for the next game.

Also, think Sterling did great tonight. The world is going to take note of him now.

    Sturridge was whoscored.com MOTM.

Sterling was the BBC pundits MOTM.

Sterling reminded me of Duff in 2002 World Cup. It was just give him the ball to him and let him run.

That's a bit of an evasion - the lack of legs in midfield didn't magically stop being a problem half way through the season - our insane attacking ability just mitigated the problem.

It's not like England or Liverpool had incredible options on the bench to take over from Stevie - Lampard would give you the same problems, Wilshere is erratic and wild off the ball, Milner is allegedly a winger (although probably the best shout).

Rooney should ask Sturridge how it's done as far as bagging a World Cup goal goes.

Rodgers changed Gerrard's position and role during the season and I feel that Gerrard contributed greatly to our league challenge and I think Rodgers has prolonged his LFC career.

Hodgson though is not using him that way and asking him to do what he is not capable of anymore.

The fact this happens is not Gerrard's fault but the manager.
