I'd like to see England do well provided it's the Liverpool players driving that success

Not tonight though. I've backed Italy :pac:

There is one reason I would like to see England perform, Jordan Henderson.

I'd happily see England go all the way to the final and then lose.

But If they happen to win I'd very happy to know they did it with 6 maybe 7 Liverpool players playing a key role in that.

Just Imagine 6 or 7 World Cup winners starting for us next season.

    It will never happen thought!

We'd be the new West Ham!

mmm.... I can't help but not really wanting England to do that well.

Call me bitter old fashioned Irish if you want but I can't stand how English media hype them up and I just also don't want Hodgson to do well.

Also, if they go out early then Liverpool players can rest more in the summer.

The media havent hyped them up at all this year in fairness i would love to see our boys do well for england, losing finalists would be ideal

Hype? The media have been on their best behaviour (so far). Imagine the Irish and your plastic hammers! :p

They have been majorly hyped in the past and it will increase if they do well. Remember the English papers during Euro 96?

Also, never liked how they boo national anthems and have an attitude like supporters below from last world cup v Germany.

I know most won't agree with me but that's how I feel.

I will be roaring on the old enemy. Be gutted if Wellbeck gets a start ahead of Raheem though

Hope Costa Rica get absolutely thumped in order that Suarez simply isn't required.

Bryan Ruiz captain, there's an absolute battler who will never let his team down :pac:

Sterling starts apparently at the top of the midfield it looks like, him or Rooney anyway.

That tournament was held in England, so what would you expect?

For one of the first times, I actually really like the vast majority of their team - only chaps I don't particularly like are Wilshire and Rooney (edit - and joe Hart).

Most of their team though is filled with good, hardworking players, with plenty of skill - both young and old.

I don't think they can quite win it, but i'd love to see them go out there and impose themselves on games and do well.

Euro 96? 18 years ago and you still harbour a grudge? Spare me!

    Fcuk off Costa Rica.

    Fcuk off Costa Rica.

They deserve the goal. Suarez will be coming on in 15 minutes if Uruguay aren't ahead by then.

    Edit: Wow, 2-1 now.

Having liked Firmino yesterday the Metro have drawn Sanchez out of the hat today.

I'm not even going to bother linking it.

I fully endorse Uruguay going out in the group stages.

    Suarez needs the rest.

If he isn't on by now, he isn't fit to play, no matter what has been said.

Suarez's fitness must still be a worry. If they were sure he was ok he'd have been on 10 minutes ago.

Hopefully. Uruguay have been fcukin' pathetic anyway, not like they had a chance.

This World Cup might be the one for the Underdogs and the Dark Horses.

And they're not just Upsets, but Upsets with Eye-opening Scorelines.

I don't like seeing our Luis so sad.

I want them to get knocked out early so he'll get more rest. I want them to stay in so that his transfer speculation won't start for ages.

I think they have been quite poor since that copa win few years ago. Got too many notions about themselves

Eamon Dunphy on Jordan Henderson: "He's not a footballer Bill, he's a runner"!

Me on Dunphy, 'He's not a pundit Bill, he's a trolling drunk'

Seriously though, the RTE panel is on it's last legs this year. They couldn't be bothered looking for any new blood. I see Joey Barton is doing a bit on Eurosport. I think they missed a trick with him. Love him or hate him, if you follow him outside football, he talks a lot of sense. And could bring a controversial factor too

    Tuning into BBC now

Joey is very good and I hate saying that. His work on BT and BBC 5 is very good. He knows his stuff.

RTE still the best in the business imo. 24 years undefeated.
