Tickets arrived today, only ordered them on Sunday.

I would it would to some extent anyway. That and it is €30 instead of €35 if you pre-pay.

I won't be bringing my two year old, much and all as I'd love to. Having been to Carton House and Killarney, it's just too much of an ask imo.

Btw he's not being condescending, parlance likes to analyse everything golf :-)

I've taken the night to analyse this Slice and my conclusion is..... thanks.... I think :)

    Very constructive.

Tiger McIlroy, you are new to the forum so please take the time to read the forum charter and the general tone of the forum.

You have been given good, friendly advice, with no hint of condescension. In fact the only antagonistic posts in this thread have really come from yourself.

If you have an issue with a post then report it. Do not resort to replying in thread and further derailing the thread.

Lets start over, if i took the tone of parts of your post wrong then i hold my hands up. I get what your saying about the boredom factor for them and im obviously aware of the logistics of dragging a buggy around a wet golf course and i never intended doing this.

Basically we have the use of a house twenty to thirty minutes drive away and will be staying down for a few days regardless so its all dependant on the weather conditions etc..at this stage im leaning towards just giving them the credit card and catching up with them afterwards.

No worries, let's just call it a Tiger stropp or a McIlroy huff :) joke

It's a nice idea and personally I can't wait to bring the nippers to something like this but it'll be a good while down the line.
Load up the credit card is my advice ;)

For others bringing slightly older kids, spotted this which may come in handy and could be a blessing:

Supernova Family Kids Zone at The Irish Open

Supernova's magical state of the art facilities are the perfect place for children and now it can be enjoyed at The Irish Open. Every child that enters through our doors will feel the excitement, adventure and most importantly, the fun that Supernova has to offer. Join Mr McCool and his friends on their adventures, in which we have transported to the Irish Open. Let our generals and princesses take care of the kids in a professional and secure environment while the parents enjoy the golf and soak in the atmosphere that Fota Island resort has to offer. The fun doesn't stop there as we have an outside obstacle course that can be enjoyed by all ages. So no matter what the weather, Supernova is the ideal place for children to enjoy themselves at the Irish Open.

It's €10 an hour and for kids aged 4-13.

Jesus wept... poor aul Tiger McIlroy. In fairness Greebo, he is new here, but that's why he doesn't know Parlance and Foreright and their dulcet tones! Maybe give the lad a break on this one and welcome him to our world, after all it's friends we want and not enemies.

Ok Tiger, Parlance & Foreright are evil sadistic people who will run you down into the ground and trod all over you and even do a little jig (but only if you are a Liverpool fan) otherwise they are decent enough people. Though I do think Par was more than a little over the top this time.... maybe he was up all night changing ****ty nappies or something so find it in your heart to forgive him :) I wonder will he now have the same advice for me :D

Anyway as Parlance says, and if you want to meet a real boardsie who will be there on Friday in my wacky trousers, shoes, jacket and shirt.... and will have the missus and kids in tow, drop me a line.

I will be bringing my 4 month old, 3 year old, 5 year old and much much older wife with her folks and we will be there most days, but especially on Friday, where in fact they will all be taking part in my plan to win the wacky trouser experience with me!

Like yourself and will be in the area (Youghal) and wanted to go, but were only thinking that a practice day would work because of the kids. We asked someone on the tour, who has more experience of these situations than any of us here put together and he told us in no uncertain terms to bring them all every day.

Hope the lads haven't scared you off.....

Your kids will be fine Stevie, they'll be hiding up a tree as quiet as mice in the hope that they're not seen with their embarrassing auld fella :)

I can picture you now, wacky trousers and the old crown paint jersey.
Hope it doesn't rain, could get very slippery down there for your type ;)

Fair play..the lads havent scared me off at all its the internet and things get misconstrued etc so its all good.

Your a better man than me with that troop but good luck in the wacky trouser comp.

i've just been reading through this, we went to Killarney with our then 1 year old, (she was 23 months old) in her buggy and had no problems following golfers and getting around the course, she was always silent when they were taking the shots and loved the clapping after, (she thought it was the funniest game) her dad, grandparents and i had a great day and saw as much as we wanted to see (we both love golf), and the buggy was handy too for storing the food and essentials! :D

we are going again this year now she's one month off 5 years old as as it happens the girl loves golf, she loves watching it on tv, and borrowing her granda's clubs every time she is down in their house, we bought the toy golf set but it wasn't to her liking the ball and club didn't make the same sound, so we know she's going to love it. we again are bringing the stroller as we know it will be a long day for her to walk around, and it will be handy for keeping her dry if it does rain.

honestly if parents just use common sense and prepare properly for all eventualities it will be just fine to bring them along.

There another childrens play zone just 5 mins away in the Fota Business Park - called Go Safari I think, and across the car park from that is Ballyseedy, is tied-in with the Blarney Woolen mills so lots of shopping / coffee to be had if the other halves get sick of the golf. Just head towards Carrigtwohill & its all signposted

    Babies crying.
    Monkeys chattering

    Golf gang hollering.

Joking aside - sounds a great week. Have to work out If I can get down - good few friends in cork I could gatecrash.

if you went on the absolute lash with them, and played 3 or four holes as a warm up....... i think you could win the tournament after your last performance :)

This is my first irish open, heading down for saturday and sunday with tickets to both days and saying in Fota resort. Looking forward to it now, will be my first irish open and first time in Fota.

Just a quick question, as we are staying in the hotel, it would be nice if we were allowed to nip back to the room for change of clothes or a bit of food or whatever, does anyone know if you are allowed go in and out of the course or is it a case of once you've handed your tickets in you cant get back out. I know there are loads of facilities in there for food and drink and stuff , but im just thinking if it starts lashing rain, it would be nice to nip back to the hotel room for a change of clothes

Are the retail outlets at previous Irish Opens any good? Expensive?
Never been but hoping to get there Friday.

Would be great for the event to get some decent weather. Doesn't even have to be warm. The weather hasn't been too kind in some of the recent years.

Like a real saddo I'm going on my own. No one was interested in going to cork :-) but I bought the 4 day ticket there just now so if anyone else is as sad as me and wants to have a boardsie get together no worries.

Otherwise keep an eye out for the weirdo desperately trying to strike up chats with whoever is walking by. Including the competitors if I get lonely enough :-)

Absolutely the best way to do it!! Watch who you like for as long as you like and not have to worry about anyone else.

Oh and the best place to watch golf at an open... is the driving range. Nothing better than standing behind pros and seeing how they shape the ball and try out different shots.

Totally agree with this, i spent ages on the range last year in Carton. To see the way they can strike the ball is something else really
