I'm taking the MG out for its first test run tomorrow.

Recovery is on stand by (seriously). I'm not holding out hope really, up until now things have been going suspiciously smoothly.

Last week I bought a car, tonight i collected it, with the help of two fellow boardsies, and with many offers from various others, but I'd like to say thank you to sobanek and ybfocus, without them I wouldn't have even acquired the car in the first place, and to be honest it's people like them who go out of their way to help that makes this forum what it really is, people may bitch and troll, but there are genuine people on here and I cannot thank them enough, the two guys and everyone else who is genuine, so yeah pics will be in the picture thread in a minute :)

Yep! I don't really know a whole lot about it, but for a 23 year old car its as solid as a rock, bit of surface rust here and there but thats about it on first inspection

Ah yeah, it all seems to be surface rust, so off to halfords and getting rust proof coating and zinc primer tomorrow and a wire brush

You jammy git :P That drive is getting fierce tight now!! How many beans did you part with, or is that sacred? What was the idea behind getting it, to do up and sell on is it?

Yeah two cars that don't work :pac:

Parted with 270 for it :) well I didn't but I'll be paying it back

The plan is to have it ready for my 25th birthday, or near as possible, then i can get classic insurance on it :D I can't get a policy on it now as it's too old, and i cant get classic insurance as im too young, so I'm going to fix it up, and use it as a sort of show/weekend car, that could change between now and then but thats the idea

Best of luck getting it sorted out. Hope it doesn't throw too many problems up. Potential to be a gem so it does! :)

Yer man who sold it seems to be a bit of an enthusiast, had a 9-5, gm900 and a 900 aero, and he was only selling this one because it wasn't being driven and was taking up space, he seemed fairly genuine, to the point where he wants to be kept updated on the progress :pac: he said it's solid bar the rust and need for new tyres, nothing i shouldn't be able to deal with, and if I can't I'll send it off

    So according to wikipedia

    B202 16-valve low pressure turbo (LPT), 143 hp (107 kW; 145 PS) at 5600 rpm and 202 N·m (149 lb·ft)

    Saab 900 Turbo; 145 hp(DIN). Acceleration 0-100 km/h 9.5 sec. Top speed 202 km/h

Not bad for a 23 year old car!

I see a digital boost controller in your future sir pickles (of the shire)

Once everything checks out that is.

Ah yes but that was 23 years ago. Prob takes an hour to get to 100km now :pac: Ahh no, but in all seriousness, what's it like to drive? Did you drive it home or get it brought home for you?

Low pressure becomes high pressure young squires become knights and dreams become reality.

Also bits of engine become lodged in the sump :p

Trailered it home, took it for a quick drive up my road, it is as raw as it gets, you hear everything, you feel everything, it's a totally different world from the 9-5, it moves as quick as anything on the road today if not quicker, the noise is something else
