There is a few rumours flying around the usual circles but one I keep hearing is that van Gaal told the Glazers and Woodward that Carrick is going to have a massive role in Manchester United's midfield next season and the team was basically going to be build around Carrick. I also heard that a few journalists got a wrap around the knuckles over the Kroos rumours. One appears to definitely be in some trouble at the minute.

I'm sure the rumour is just a guess, but it wouldn't surprise me if Carrick became a starter for van Gaal.

LvG played van Bommel at Bayern for two seasons and he was all sorts of shíte. LvG bought Gustavo, who is a disciplined defensive midfielder, but extremely limited and overrated. And, from what we hear, LvG is mad about Strootman, who is very intelligent and disciplined and has some great attributes, but has a weak touch and close control for a CM.

So LvG really seems to have a habit of picking CMs who are good at other things even if they aren't so tidy with the ball in a tight spot. Carrick fits that mold perfectly and I honestly don't think he has regressed at all. He just had a poor season, like everybody else under Moyes.

If Woodward hasn't signed anyone from LvG's list by the end of the WC he might be in for the same treatment as LvG gives journalists.

I wonder if LvG has a clause allowing him to back out if we don't get the players?

    Guillem Balague @GuillemBalague
    1. He has not agreed anything with Chelsea. His agent did not meet Wenger lately (havent spoken for a month)
    2. Barcelona have told Cesc he has to find a team. They want the money to buy Koke. Cost: 35m euros
    3. Arsenal dont want Cesc back and he has been told that already by Arsenal
    4. He is being pushed out by Barcelona but will take his time to find the right club for him

    So.....he's signed for Arsenal then?

Shaw for 30 million all day, Moreno just isn't as good and is 3 years older

We better not miss out on him, hopefully it's confirmed before the England squad go away

Do they not come back before the World Cup?

Looks like they don't, so he probably won't sign for anyone until England get knocked out

He said twice as many minutes was a bit of an exaggeration. You've just proven that it was.

Well he's played twice as many as two on the list and very very nearly twice as many as two more. And over twice as many as another. Its hardly that much of an exaggeration. 1-2 hundred minutes in the grand scheme of 3k minutes isn't exactly an exaggeration.

No, it's a bit of an exaggeration, like Agueroo said.

Its just being pedantic. I'm going to follow all your posts around from here till the end of time and if you ever round up or round down in a post I'm gonna call you an exaggerator and bitch slap you. (Through the internet)

Titan disagreeing with Aguerooo for saying that it was a bit of an exaggeration was being pedantic.

Then you claiming Titan was verifying Agueroo was pedantic. Then I was pedantic for bringing it this far. But I'm hungover and this proves a welcome distraction from the degrading porn I've been watching thus far today.

Any news on the transfer front?

I think you'll find that degrading porn more fulfilling than the answer to that question unfortunately.

They don't really need him providing Yaya is staying. They are well stocked in midfield

    You reckon?

I reckon if Utd want him he's theirs.

Can't see Arsenal spending huge money on a midfielder for the 2nd year in a row especially as hes late 20s.They'll go big on a striker I'd say.

By the looks of things if city dont want fabregas and some people are saying that arsenal arent interested then theres really only one option if hes coming to england and thats us. Woodward better act quick and pull of a decent transfer deal

Chelsea would be the other option?

EDIT, Chelsea are actually bookies favourites to land him but as there's no exchange laying him I'd not take too much notice of that

If it's true that City and Arsenal don't want him, I can't see him going to Chelsea so that would leave United and Liverpool in the league and PSG abroad, but it's said he wants to be back in the PL

I don't think it's true that Arsenal don't want him but are they going to spend 30 million on a midfielder when they will have to spend similar or more than that on a striker? I suppose it's possible if they offload a few midfielders they have

Can't see him at Chelsea myself although Hunter is confirming the rumours that they are in negotiations with Barcelona.

Fabregas however has went on record as not being the biggest fan of Mourinho, plus Mourinho may prefer a more hard working player, especially defensively.

United have a good chance here and usually I hate the attitude of some fans that say "just throw money at it" as it's far more complicated than that, but this is one player who would be worth making a top earner within the club and the fact that Barcelona want rid of him means the actual transfer fee should be much easier to settle upon.

Thing we have to remember is that LVG may just not want him.

    Expecting a 40mill+2 bid for suarez i see:pac:

I think hes arsenals if they want him and after that it could go anyway

Dave has a lot of work to do

If the reported €35m is the fee for Fab, United should just offer it straight to Barca and begin contract negotiations from there..

Fabregas would be brilliant for United's midfield, couple him with a dynamic, defensive minded midfielder, it would be two excellent additions.

Shaw & Hummels(Or other top CB) and we're laughing, I reckon we'd be talking circa £100-115m for the lot then.

Cue LvG turning down Fabregas and signing Clasie..

He's available for £30m and "only" earns £100k a week apparently so this should be a deal that we can do.

He would be a superb signing.

Yeah, his club have publicly stated they want to sell and many of the other major clubs have already said they don't want him, this is a perfect scenario to pick up a good player for a very reasonable fee. Hopefully Woodward is able to get a good deal done.

Assuming our new manager wants him that is.

Van Gaal may just not want him, but I don't know how we could get away with signing just Strootman who may not even be back for the start of the season

It's like the Mata signing really, too good to turn down but he actually plays in the position we need to strengthen hugely
