Oh I don't have anything against gay people marrying. As I've said I hope you have nothing against me and my beloved ClipClop tying the knot. Turwig doesn't mind Paddy Ryan and his eldest daughter 18 year old Mary getting married, but seems to draw the line at adult humans. ClipClop is 10 , so why not?

He added caveats, which you might ask him about.

I can't see how an animal, who is incapable of giving consent, is comparable to an adult human being.

HAHAHAHA! I told warned you all that this was coming a couple of pages back.

Why don't you have a foal? You could find a mare to act as a surrogate for you. That way your child will resemble your partner.

Sorry but I'm taking offence at the suggestion that ClipClop and I couldn't offer a loving normal family home to a human child. Paddy and Mary next door (father and daughter, but also husband and wife, they are consenting and in love so its fine) have adopted a boy. Of course he doesn't know yet that his new mother is also his sister, but look, this is the brave new world and there's no evidence that incestuous parents are detrimental to a child's upbringing so , well, it should be perfect.
Oh, and there's no evidence that having a mother and a horse for parents would be damaging either. So you can take your old-fashioned Taliban attitudes and stick them where the sun don't shine.

    Isnt it sarcasm?

Mrs Byrne was being sarcastic about marrying her horse in an attempt to prove the inevitability of the slippery slope that will be caused by equal marriage (people will want to marry their horses, shoes, goldfish, crunchie bars etc and sure if we allow gay people to get married why should we stop there).

Although it is bordering on eugenics there are biological arguments against incestuous reproduction.
I commented on my problem with them here

As for horse human baby evidence. If you can prove the horse isn't being raped and if you can prove a horse human baby is biologically possible, then we can discuss the ethics of it. Right now, it's almost as productive as the zoology of unicorns. A fascinating field no doubt.

My mistake. Thought it was someone taking the piss out of the whole "sure if men marry other men why cant I marry something that cant consent" thing. Didnt think someone could be actually serious about that.

    Your horse can't give consent.

Maybe a dolphin though? Either way if we can't measure the autonomy then we can't allow it. Otherwise it's possible you're raping the dolphin. Or horse.

have no objections to incestuous relationships with no grooming/foul play involved. As long it's mutually consenting and there's no foul play involved, what business is it of anyone to state what adults can or cannot do?

I absolutely agree. My other neighbour Joe is married to a deaf mute Congolese dwarf who insists that he enjoys being walked along the Mainstreet on all fours wearing a nappy with Joe controlling the lead with an electric shock collar. Oh some narrow minded people have tried to interfere , spouting nonsense about finding the sight of them "obscene" (lol!). But both insist that they are in love, so BUT OUT! backward creationists your day is over!

The slippery slope argument is favoured in both the equal marriage and abortion debates. With gay marriage it will lead to people marrying their budgie/cow/lampshade, and with abortion the inevitable result is that 'post birth' abortions will have to be legalised, which will mean that you can abort your 10 year old.

With regard to the slippery slope. Why did we allow inter racial marriage and even straight marriage (the true proper one!). All of those could lead to horse goldfish human HGH births! I say we ban marriage altogether. Eliminating any potential threats!

The sincerity in your agreement is quite troubling. Human rights is a serious issue. It'd be nice if you seriously consider the ethical implications. Rather than such vacuous appeals to feelings of disgust.

See I'm going to leave this thread now. But not before I tell you that I'm sick of narrow minded people stuck in 1990s Ireland passing judgment on us and our neighbours here in LittleTipp. We are all consenting adults and its nobodies business what we do. Now we really do have to go cos there's a swingers night round at Mary and Paddys and it takes 20 minutes to get CilpClop in their front door. Enjoy the rest of the thread!

Moral values of Catholicism gave us the Magdalene Laundries. A high position of power for the RCC in our state of it,gave us cover ups of abuse and had people treated like second class citizens because of their sexuality, gender. The times when you couldn't even avail of bloody contraceptives. Did you miss out on Irish history?

If you rape some poor being then it's NOT nobody's business.

Child molesters try to claim the same things you have about clip clop. So, I take it then you approve of abusing kids? Because you do realise those are the arguments you are making?

Unbaptised children buried in unmarked mass graves. Magdalene laundries. Forced separation of unmarried mothers and their infants. Parishioners of little means embarrassed by having the amount of their Easter dues read out from the alter for all to hear. Children being sent off to seminaries because it'd be a great coup to have a priest in the family. Mothers in 'good catholic families' being turned into brood mares for the church and staying permanently pregnant till menopause. People being made feel 'guilt' over perfectly natural feelings over which they had no control.

That's all I can think of for the moment. In no particular order of disgusting. Which do you miss most?
Go read the Constituion. Roman Catholicism has a special place and its traditional heritage is to be respected.

Well of course it does. It was written by Devalera and a bishop.

You know the great thing about constitutions? They can be changed. Remember that territorial claim on Northern Ireland we used to have?
