Roman Catholics not entitled to hold the views they have in the Irish Republic now? The aggressive secularism which we see more often isn't good. I respect the traditional values they hold to.

There's no such thing as "aggressive secularism".

Roman Catholics can continue to hold the "traditional views" that you seem to respect. People that aren't Roman Catholics can hold the views they want. Everybody gets to live their lives as they please without something they don't believe in being forced upon them.

That's the beauty of a secular state.

See? I can do stupid comment better than you. Try harder.

That had me laughing so hard that tears came!

A real shame, hopefully they reclaim the state back.

There aren't enough of them, I'm afraid. :(
    Hard luck. The Enlightenment won.

Stupid?, if a couple are in a loving relationship what's the problem.

If you're not taking the piss, go away and take a long hard look at yourself. If you are taking the piss, just go away.

Whatever, you are as good as the politicians, you won't answer a direct question. Are you implying that these relationships do not exist.

Roman Catholics can hold whatever damn views they like and practice them to their hearts content. What they are not allowed to do anymore is insist that others also abide by the rules of Catholicism just because they do!

    Must be awful for them!
The state was much better when Roman Catholicism had a big say in the state and actually moral values actually mattered.

Was this before or after the laundries and molested children?

So Catholicism should be forced on non Catholics?

No just a relationship, which can be gay or straight. I just like to know people's thoughts on it.

No. I'm just not going to get into a debate over it.

Just to be clear though. I'm happy to get into a debate. Just not with you, after reading the post to which I responded. It was ridiculous.

Of course, I'm not saying in any way, shape or form that you yourself are, by extension, ridiculous. Not at all. Just to be clear. You're not ridiculous. Your post was though.

Any particular reason? And what relevance has it to this thread in particular?

Unbaptised children buried in unmarked mass graves. Magdalene laundries. Forced separation of unmarried mothers and their infants. Parishioners of little means embarrassed by having the amount of their Easter dues read out from the alter for all to hear. Children being sent off to seminaries because it'd be a great coup to have a priest in the family. Mothers in 'good catholic families' being turned into brood mares for the church and staying permanently pregnant till menopause. People being made feel 'guilt' over perfectly natural feelings over which they had no control.

That's all I can think of for the moment. In no particular order of disgusting. Which do you miss most?

Well adoption came up, and I asked the question. People felt I was taking the mickey, which I am not.

I may leave with you, as I'm not going to get an answer. These type of relationships must not exist.

Is it a general concern or a personal one? Are you considering adoption?

As you can see there are not many about at the moment who are willing to entertain your attempt to compare LGBT relationships with incest.

Would you have an issue with a couple in an incestuous relationship adopting a child

Nope. As long as there's no foul play involved and its a loving relationship between two mutually consenting adults.

Incest isn't the issue here though gay marriage is.

I think your being discriminatory here, sorry, confining relationships to being between adult humans.
I am in love with my horse and my horse is quite clearly in love with me.
We wish to get married and adopt a child. Just because our relationship doesn't fit in with your narrow view of what constitutes a "family" doesn't mean that we should have to suffer, feeling unequal to human/human couples and not being recognised as legitimate by society at large.
Our neighbours are a father and his biological daughter who live together as a couple and have adopted a child. This is now perfectly acceptable and quite a few men i know are now having regular sex with their sisters or Aunts that they are very fond of since childhood. All apparently are consenting adults. Sure its grand.

HAHAHAHA! I told warned you all that this was coming a couple of pages back.

Why don't you have a foal? You could find a mare to act as a surrogate for you. That way your child will resemble your partner.

That was your fault Turtwig! I knew that we'd be hurtling along down the 'slippery slope' the minute anyone paid any serious heed to that incest nonsense!

The ex-inmates of the Magdalene gulags would be inclined to disagree.

Oh I don't have anything against gay people marrying. As I've said I hope you have nothing against me and my beloved ClipClop tying the knot. Turwig doesn't mind Paddy Ryan and his eldest daughter 18 year old Mary getting married, but seems to draw the line at adult humans. ClipClop is 10 , so why not?

    Your horse can't give consent.

Maybe a dolphin though? Either way if we can't measure the autonomy then we can't allow it. Otherwise it's possible you're raping the dolphin. Or horse.

have no objections to incestuous relationships with no grooming/foul play involved. As long it's mutually consenting and there's no foul play involved, what business is it of anyone to state what adults can or cannot do?
