Have you a link for that by any chance? Wouldn't mind having a listen :)

I cant link it but if you play back Morning Ireland on the RTE radio player from about 1hr40 mins in, you will hear it. They interviewed a mother with young kids, a woman expecting a baby around the time of the GB concerts and others.

In fairness too, there was a woman living on Distillery Road who held a party and availed of the free music!

Or croke park could stick to the agreement that was made and not make people suffer yet another 5 nights of disruption.

You mean the agreement that they would get planning permission for any more than 3 concerts within the year?? The ones they are in the process of getting planning permission for??

    That agreement??

I'm just gonna take the days off when Garth Brooks is playing. There's no way I want to face going through Drumcondra after work on those days.

An Bord Pleanala Planning Permission Register Reference No. 0238/92 is the specific document outlining the 3 extra events per annum and the requirement for the organisers to seek a licence for any subsequent events.

    Referenced here: http://www.dublincity.ie/Planning/Documents/crokeparkOneDirection.pdf

    and here: http://www.dublincity.ie/YourCouncil/LocalAreaServices/CentralArea/Documents/Agenda%20April%2008.pdf (page 36)

    and here: http://votemcauliffe.com/concern-raised-as-planning-doubts-hang-over-garth-brooks-concert/

Hold on. So is the agreement that they can only hold 3 concerts or that they can hold 3 concerts but anymore and they need to get more licenses?

The planning permission states that there can be 3 events and any subsequent events must be presented before the Council for approval. What pissed people off at the start of this thread was the presumption that residents don't get a say in the matter. They did get the opportunity to voice their observations to the council and now the council are making their deliberations on the matter.

    Very clear. Thanks.

Prior to the elections what were the prospective councillors saying to the residents?

Where does it say that? It says they were walking towards Abbey street, you aware of how many streets they would have had to walk to get from Croke park to Abbey street?

it clearly says it in the first sentence "as they left croke park"

A young One Direction fan had a lucky escape when a stranger threw bleach at him from an overhead window as he left Croke Park.

Following the directions of a guard towards Abbey St.....It still doesn't say where it happened only that he left Croke Park and headed towards Abbey St.

So was it a street attached to Croke park? Was it 3 streets away? 6 streets away? 10 streets away?

so you are trying to read a newspaper article based on the missing text, rather than the actual text that's in it?
    weird.

Yeah but to be fair bussing people there would be a good idea to alleviate the cars issue even for the allowed 3 events plus big matches.

    https://maps.google.ie/maps?ie=UTF-8&q=Dublin+GAA+clubs&fb=1&gl=ie&hq=GAA+clubs&hnear=0x48670e80ea27ac2f:0xa00c7a9973171a0,Dublin&ei=D2aDU9OEOuXC7AaLoIGICw&ved=0CLcBELYD

A quick search for Dublin GAA clubs. I'm sure there are many, many more than are shown there. Pick 6 or so grounds and run shuttle busses from each as well as shuttle busses from Busaras and Heuston and include something like €5 for it in the ticket price. When buying the tickets select the parking/public transport pickup desired. If parking and a shuttle bus service is already included in the price of the ticket, the prospect of sitting in traffic for an age just to get within walking distance of it isn't so attractive. Park and ride much easier.

See this is what is confusing me. People keep saying they're only allowed 3 events but the link OldGoat posted said they're allowed 3 events and can apply to have more. So they're breaking no agreement other than the odd Irish thing of selling tickets to a concert before they get permission.

The agreement is three events and they may apply to have more than that. Residents are saying it's taking the absolute pee having 3 in a row and 6 weeks later having 5 in a row. And yeah, they're selling tickets to a concert that doesn't yet have permission to go ahead

Right so they aren't breaking any agreement and it's up to the Council to decide that.

Well that's an Irish thing. Not just about Croke Park.

    Correct, just taking the pee.

It's not so much of an issue in other places worldwide where they put in place proper transport to and from events and have actual traffic management plans and where people aren't such disgusting slobs as the people who pee through people's hall doors and ****e on their doorsteps.

But GAA like to pretend they aren't hugely disrupting the local area, don't make any real accommodations to deal with the issues around having such a huge number converging on a small residential area and generally give 2 fingers to the residents. That's why they're taking the pee.
